The Review Score of 8.974 for Barchester Badgeworth Court Care Centre is based on 14 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.543 for Barchester Badgeworth Court Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (96 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (14 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 151 Ratings = 4.543

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.431 for Barchester Badgeworth Court Care Centre is calculated as follows:

      1. 14 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 14 Positive Reviews = 1.400 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (14 Positive Reviews ÷ 65 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.431

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). This is an excellent care home and we feel very lucky to have found it. It is well managed and has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The staff are extremely kind and caring, and nothing is too much trouble for them. The nurses and the care staff work well together as a team, and never seem rushed, although they work extremely hard. There are always plenty of staff on duty and the call bells are answered promptly. The home is kept clean and hygienic, and the laundry staff make sure clothing is returned spotlessly clean and ironed. The food is very good, with a varied and imaginative menu. When my father was ill, the excellent care he received meant that he recovered quickly.

All the carers, Nurses, administration staff and managers were friendly, courteous, acted with professionalism and respect to my mother in the 4 years that she was a resident in the home. They were like friends to us each time we visited and extremely kind to Mum and us in the last few days of her life, nothing was too much trouble and we will visit the home when they have any events on as we miss our little chats with the carers. The food was always of the top quality and we have eaten with them on special occasions throughout those years.

As a very frequent visitor i.e. 6 times a week, I have the opportunity to see most of the staff in their carer roll, not just with my wife but also with some of the other residents of the unit and the level of respect to everyone, whatever their personal issues is first class. Their respect and caring is also shown to me and I have never felt as though I was not welcomed. Any lifestyle or health issue that my wife has I am kept fully up to date in line with the principles agreed with the Nursing Staff, in addition the care principles are reviewed following any highlighted health issue.

Due to my sister's health problems, she is unable to discuss anything in conversation, and my true knowledge of her personal feelings cannot be conveyed to me or members of her family. So has to be witnessed by us when visiting.

The deterioration of my sister's condition ie wheelchair and bed-bound has resulted in her inability to take part in the normal activities offered, so that aspect has not been rated.
In general, the staff are very compassionate and caring, leaving us with the impression that my sister is in good hands.

My father has been a resident for the past 10 years, suffering from a slowly progressive form of dementia. The overall accommodation, furnishing, facilities and food reflect the high standards my father enjoyed before entering Badgeworth Court. The care received across the period has been consistently impressive, delivered by well trained and dedicated staff.
The whole establishment exhibits an air of friendly yet efficient management, and this includes the sympathetic and prompt communications the family receive when required.
