Can't fault the medical care and all areas are very clean apart from bathroom. But can fault many other things -
Inadequate heating in bedroom, mother providing own heater - Lack of supervision at weekends, carers on mobile phones not engaging with residents - 09/10/25 fire exit blocked all day with
lifting equipment - Poor food stock management frequently running out of basics eg brown bread, horlicks - Strip washes only, mother not offered bath or shower in over a year - Bath near dining room taps not working and room dirty - Newly built conservatory poorly designed with no access to garden for wheelchair users or residents with limited mobility - Dining room not used as dining room - meals eaten in same arm chair resident has been sitting in all day - Daily menu states Starter/Main/Dessert - mother not been offered starter in over a year, frequently run out of pudding given ice cream as alternative. Could list more but reaching word limit.
Reply from Carmelia Pimentel, Home Manager at Florence House Care HomeThank you for sharing your concerns. Heating at Florence House is regularly checked by qualified engineers, with mobile heaters used when needed. Care staff use the Nourish electronic documentation system on handheld devices strictly for care tasks. The Jacuzzi bath is on the first floor of Nightingale, and upgrade works on the unused ground floor have begun. The ground-floor bathroom was used by staff only during Covid for infection control. The kitchen maintains a monitored food inventory to ensure supplies are replenished. Your mum has capacity to make her own decisions, and your sister visits three times a week to support her. The conservatory provides full garden access with sliding doors and ramps for safe, comfortable mobility. I would like to invite you to a meeting so we can discuss this further and ensure all your concerns are fully addressed.

My Mother has been a resident for this Nursing Home since 2022 and I can only praise the staff for caring for my Mother for their loving and caring manner. The staff ranging from the carers, nurses and senior staff all do their best to help and care not only for the residents but their families.

I

fully recommend Florence House to anyone who will need to move there.

Although mum had been well since moving to Florence house, I do despair sometimes on the lack of communication between staff and family members. I would like to know when she has had a fall or suffered an injury which results in first aid, I'd like to be reassured she's having regular personal care,
her teeth brushed, her hair washed weekly as that doesn't seem to happen. Even a weekly email with an update on what she's done would be gladly received. I have no idea what she's done from one week to the other. Staff seem to be on their mobile phones watching screens rather than interacting with residents.
Reply from Carmelia Pimentel, Home Manager at Florence House Care HomeThank you for sharing your feedback. We're glad to hear your mum has been well since moving to Florence House. To clarify, staff do not use personal mobile phones during shifts; the devices you see are care management devices used to log care records in real time, ensuring care is accurately documented and monitored. Please rest assured that personal care, including oral hygiene and hair washing, is part of our routine plan. Nurses in charge are always available to provide updates, and families are encouraged to approach them or management for any clarification or information needed. It is our protocol to inform families of any changes in health, injuries, incidents, GP visits, or updates from other professionals. We will ensure you receive a weekly update about your mother via email and encourage you to speak directly with nurses during your visits. We appreciate your comments and will take them into account as we continue improving the experience for residents and families.

Would have been all 5 stars but sometimes residents wait far too long for bathroom assistance. Rooms are always lovely and clean as are entrance. No bad smells. Staff are always so kind and helpful. Need more exercise stimulation.
Reply from Carmelia Pimentel, Home Manager at Florence House Care HomeThank you for your kind words about our clean rooms and caring staff. We're sorry if bathroom assistance has sometimes taken longer; our team is always available, though delays can occur during busy periods when several residents need help at once.
There are activities available throughout the day, supported by our activity coordinators. In addition, Florence House has an in-house physio who conducts exercise sessions with residents, ensuring that daily physical activity is included as part of their routine. We appreciate your feedback and remain committed to continue to improve residents' experience.

Overall Mum looked after well she's never had a bed sore and she's been in bed for two years. She's kept clean and tidy. The staff are llovely with her. I think it's a lot of money that I'm paying and she just lies in bed and has nothing to do with anybody and I'm not sure that the meals are the best.
I'm sure that they could have better meals. and afternoon cake his always the same dry and tasteless
Reply from Carmelia Pimentel, Home Manger at Florence House Care HomeThank you for your feedback. We're glad to hear your mum is being well cared for. There are activities available throughout the day, supported by our activity coordinators, and Florence House also has an in-house physiotherapist to encourage daily exercise. Meals are varied with daily choices, and our chef normally prepares low-sugar cakes. Care fees are standard and based on individual care needs and support. If you would like further clarification, we encourage you to approach the management team directly. We appreciate your comments and will take them into account as we continue to improve the experience for residents and families.

Everyone at Florence House is very friendly and the staff work hard to provide a homely atmosphere. The house is full of character with good facilities providing a comfortable, safe environment for its residents. The food is tasty and varied with residents being able make daily choices about what they
would like to eat. My husband is able to have physiotherapy sessions to help him become more mobile and he enjoys the regular musical entertainment organised for the residents . His carers do a great job. Thank you everyone.

My experience when visiting has always been a pleasant one. Your staff are welcoming, friendly and polite.
I always find my husband in clean bedding and his room is always clean. He's always clean and tidy, due to the care he receives from your staff. We had a lovely time at your summer barbecue.
You managed to bring my husband down into the garden to join us. friend and myself also enjoyed our time at the barbecue; it was such a fun event. Thank you from me. Your staff often tell me if my husband has had a good day, which is lovely to hear.
You arrange things like cutting of toe nails, hair cuts which is always good to hear. I do look forward to coming in to visit my husband and I do believe that's partly down to the friendly warm welcome I get from your brilliant staff.
I have been visiting for just over 4 years and never have I had any doubts about my husband's care.
I'm very grateful to Florence House and all the lovely staff.

My father was transferred from a care home to Florence House. He was a little confused initially, but soon settled in. All the staff, carers, nurses, activities, administration and managerial are all very professional, kind, caring and respectful. My father loves it there and I know that he is very well
looked after and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for that. I'm looking forward to celebrating my father's 98th birthday in July with him and the staff as they really push the boat out with cards, gifts, balloons and of course cake. Thank you all so very much for what you do for my father and the residents of this lovely home.

My mother has been in care now since coming out from 2 2-month stay in hospital. For 6 weeks now and another 2 weeks in that time, I have found the staff/nurses very friendly helpful well organised and caring for my mother in a respectable professional way. She has already put on weight 3 kilos, still
underweight, and bed-bound, but she is in late Alzheimer's, Dementia at age 82. She is very clean and they always ask if you want food and drinks. In my opinion excellent first time in a care home.

I went to Florence House yesterday to visit my father who is in a bad way, but the nursing staff and the manager were amazing and doing such a good job with my father. As for his birthday, they even put balloons and banners up for him on his door and his window and they made us so welcome. How he did
improve there since he came out of hospital and he even put on some weight, but I want to thank all of the staff for what they have done for him. The room was so much better than I thought and there was enough room in there too, so I was so surprised to see all of the cards he had received on the mantelpiece where he could see them. You have all helped him so much and I thank you from the bottom of my heart and he has done well. Even though he is a fighter, he is struggling now as he isn’t so strong, but he still keeps on going and such an amazing man is my father. So many thanks to all of you and to the manager who spent some time with me.

My sister moved into the Orangery Care Home in May 2023, ten months ago. With the beginnings of Dementia, she found it difficult to adapt to her 'new home', but is relatively settled now as could be in the circumstances. I am so glad my sister is in the care of the Orangery! The Management team are
efficient, wise and always ready to listen and act accordingly. This is most assuring to us her family. I can go to bed at night knowing I need not worry about my sister! The Caring and Nursing staff are brilliant. They have adapted to the needs of my sister as her mental and mobility capacity has deteriorated. I have absolute confidence in this lovely home for these vulnerable dear older ones in our families and would be more than happy if my children decided to choose this place for me! I am happy and more than willing to highly recommend this Care and Nursing Home. Thank you - to all of the staff!
Reply from Dafinka Aleksandrova, Manager at Orangery Care HomeThank you for appreciating the hard work and praising the staff. We will continue to support your sister and the family, and the rest of the vulnerable residents through the difficult journey of Dementia.
Thank you for your understanding, and for your regular visits and support.
With regards on behalf of the team.

Mum, aged 89, was transferred to Florence House for palliative care following an operation for a fractured hip and a fractured wrist. She survived for only 10 days and during that short time the effect on her well-being and appearance was very significant. The staff were invariably sympathetic, kind
and attentive, resulting in an overwhelming improvement to her appearance and comfort. During this short, but important final phase of her life, the family were invariably impressed with the staff and thankful for the improvement to her final days. It was for both our family and the staff of Florence House, a job well done.

My mother has been in care at Manor House for the last three years with dementia and has received the finest of care and understanding due to her condition, she has had two falls one of which resulted in a fracture to her hip this was taken care of with the utmost speed and I'm glad to say she is walking
around again. I cannot praise the staff highly enough they do a difficult job with a smile on their faces a job which I know I could not do. They organize the client's Christmas events and extra items which is not in their job description and all with a smile.
Well done Manor House staff you make my mother's life that bit happier.
Happy New Year to you all.
