My sister has been a resident in Caroline House for over 6 months now, food is good & if my sister didn't like something they would go above & beyond to cater for her.
I have no concerns over her care the staff are always on hand to chat with you at any time.
Staff are very caring & attentive at all
times.
When I visit I am made to feel part of a family.
Claire Manager of the home is always available & often chatting with the residents.
Shelley the senior care assistance has really built up a bond with my sister & with her complex needs is able to calm her when she gets very agitated.
I couldn't ask for a better care home for my sister.

Mum has struggled with the seating provided; she's tiny framed and can't reach the floor, slips down and slides to one side as the chairs were too wide and tall for her.
The new manager made a special quest to source a chair which fits her small frame such that she sits more upright which means mum
does not have her chin on her chest, which was making eating difficult, nor does she slip to the left hand side and end up crooked and uncomfortable.
The new manager made an extreme effort to find her this chair, and we are very grateful to her and all the staff for the extra efforts they make to ensure all residents have the opportunity of a comfortable stay at Filsham.
Thank you x
Reply from Simi Santhosh, Manager at Filsham LodgeThank you Sarah for taking the time to leave us a review. I am very pleased to hear that you are happy with the new chair and with the care provided to your mum at Filsham Lodge. It really means a lot for us and I will pass your message to all the staff.

My Sister and myself would like to express our gratitude for the care that our Mum has received over the almost 3 and a half years of being at Ampersand, when Mum first came to Ampersand, she settled down very well, and adapted to her new environment quickly. The care that our Mum receives is exemplary,
each time we go to visit with Mum, she always looks clean, rested and as always her lovely cheerful self!! .. all the staff genuinely care for the residents, and are happy that Mum is being cared for in such a warm, caring, and cheerful environment, the staff always phones us if they need anything etc.., her room is always kept clean, well ventilated as well as her clothes are well laundered. Mum has continued to thrive at Ampersand. Sarah (the Manager) manages the Care Centre well, and has a fantastic team of Carers, Nurses, Pharmacists etc.., if anyone is considering Ampersand House, for their loved one, go along and pay them a visit.

Some staff very helpful and friendly. Rarely see management. Menus displayed seem very good. Room of our friend and neighbour very basic, needs updating, windows need updating. Our friend seems settled and content, although his dementia is deteriorating and he is aware. As a point of interest is there
a nominated GP who visits the residents on a regular basis.
Reply from Claire Wright, Manager at Caroline HouseThank you for your post. Please be aware the management team are available Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, and outside of these hours when necessary. There is an ongoing maintenance and redecoration programme in place, window replacement is included as part of this. All feedback is very much appreciated.

The home is well run. The buildings are well maintained and the facilities are adequate for the comfort and convenience of the residents. The rooms are pleasant and kept clean and tidy and patient safety is assured with pressure pads, alarms and call buttons. My friend who lives there is well-looked
after and very happy in his environment. Thank you for your care.

Mum has been a resident at Caroline House since October 2025 and has settled in well. Mum is very well cared for by all members of staff, of whom are all friendly and caring. Being the first care home for mum, I was, as mum was apprehensive, but so happy to choose Caroline House.
I visit mum regular
and she is always praising the staff and is happy with the meals provided and care given.

I can never thank the staff at this care home enough for the love, care, and kindness they showed my dad over more than six years. They truly became his family and friends, and that meant the world to him - and to me.
During the incredibly difficult lockdown period, when I could only see him through
a window, they kept him safe, well cared for, and never alone. Knowing he was in such good hands gave me so much comfort.
My dad embraced life there, even with his mischievous streak! He took part in so many activities, was always up dancing whenever the singers came in, and absolutely loved helping out in the gardens and feeding the birds. He was very happy and engaged felt like he was given a second chance at life.
The care, compassion, and dedication shown by every single member of staff over those six years was truly amazing. The people who work here are some of the most wonderful individuals. I honestly can't thank them enough for everything they did for my dad.

I cannot praise Filsham Lodge enough. As a friend and next of kin of a resident, every visit reassures me that we made the best possible choice.
Every time I visit, my husband is always doing something - he is never bored! There are so many activities throughout the day, and he is always kept busy,
engaged, and smiling. From group activities to one-to-one time, there is always something going on, and it truly makes such a difference.
There are also so many entertainers and singers coming in regularly, which brings so much joy and excitement. The atmosphere is always lively and positive.
The staff are absolutely amazing. The second I arrive, I'm welcomed with a smile, a cup of tea, and snacks, which makes me feel so comfortable and valued. The carers are incredibly kind, patient, and caring - truly some of the best carers out there. You can see how much they genuinely care about the residents.
I would recommend Filsham Lodge without hesitation -an outstanding home with outstanding staff

My friend moved into Caroline House in May 2024. She was in two hospitals and two care homes over fifteen months, after needing to leave her home, and was very confused.
She was given a cheerful en-suite room at Caroline House looking into the garden. Shelves were put up especially for her to put the
many things that she had brought with her so she could see them.
My friend did not want to go downstairs to meet with others living in the home. The staff tried to persuade her, but did not force it, and helped her to believe that this was her home from now on. Over the months, staff asked her if she would like to go downstairs, but respected her wish to stay in her room. The person running activities found how she loved colouring and gave her pictures to colour, which she enjoyed.
My friend went down to join a 100th birthday celebration, and enjoyed it. Gradually she went downstairs occasionally, and has now started asking to go down regularly.
Staff have been so patient with her, shown her respect, and gradually gained her trust. I am very impressed with them as a staff team.

I'm so pleased with Caroline House, my husband came here for a few nights Respite Care after a week in hospital. The manager and her deputy couldn't have been more helpful. The layout of my husband's room was changed to make everything work for him. He has mild dementia but severe mobility problems.
All the staff were helpful, fast in responding to the 'Call' button. It's a Victorian house - the rooms I saw were all spacious and my husband's room was light, bright and roomy. No ensuite toilet but a commode provided. His health was carefully assessed by nursing staff and his medication given as I'd asked (swallowing difficulties) Visitors welcome all through the day. Whatever time of day I visited, I was content that he was being looked after well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this care home and my husband has said he'd be happy to return if respite care is needed again

Unfortunately my husband has now had to go on puréed foods, which I was dreading. What a surprise when the food arrived all decorative shapes and well presented. Congratulations to the company for making puréed food a "work of art" on a plate! Thank you.
Reply from Michelle Love-Patel, Manager at Filsham LodgeThank you for taking the time to leave a review. We have put alot of work into how food is presented for those on specialised diets and we are happy this has been noticed and you are pleased with our efforts. Take care!

Although my dad has only been here a while, I have found the premises to be clean, staff friendly and welcoming. I'm updated on his situation at all times, quickly and informed of everything. The food has looked good and smells divine, and appears to be plenty of it on offer; he appears to enjoy it.
I can't say anything about activities as I have not been there when any are in progress. So far, he appears to have settled here fairly quickly and is as happy as he can be

Our mum is very happy here at Ampersand House. She is showered regularly and kept nice and clean. The food seems nice too - the residents are well looked after and are given lots of snacks/drinks throughout day. Mum is looked after and has regular haircuts and pedicures. Sometimes they have a fish and
chip night, which mum loves. She loves it when the singer comes too. Mum has made friends here too!

I have nothing but praise for the care my mum.has been receiving at Ampersands. It was a very hard decision for mum to go into a care home but we could not give her the care she needed and deserved at home. She is always treated with dignity and respect. The staff are so caring not only with mum but
with our family too. Icant thank you enough
Reply from Sarah Day, Registered Manager at Ampersand HouseThank you for your kind review, I will be sure to let the staff know . we are very glad that mum has settled well and now has her days filled with visits from family and joins in with the activities, she enjoys going round to the cafe .
