My mother lived in the same village and she was admitted very quickly when mum became ill.
The manager is always available and very experienced and the staff at all levels well trained.
I have found everyone approachable, responsive and respectful of mums personal care.
The doctor visits when
needed and the medical staff are excellent.

Since My step mum was taken to this home ,what can i say but, she is a different person, When she arrived she was in a total state of confusion after having a bad fall at home.
The staff were just amazing with her, they listened to her and helped her from day one, now 6 weeks on she is like a totally
different person , she laughs jokes , walks un aided and seems to be back to her normal self (still forgetting a few things,But thats her age ) Over the years i have visited this type of home and i just have to say THANK you for being so patient, they never over do things and they keep her wanting to get on , unlike some that leave their clients to sit and dream. Her room is without doubt a room with a view and she loves it.
I would recommend them fully to anyone who is looking for a HOME that CARES.

My father was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2019. He lived alone in Essex, and I bought him over to Abbots Leigh Care Home in July 2022 after several falls and a cataract op. I had looked at several other homes and knew they would not be suitable. Abbots Leigh came highly recommended by a close friend.
It took Dad some months to settle, but the care and kindness of staff; the relief from chronic loneliness; long talks to Carers in the early hours of the morning; the resident cat, beautiful gardens, 2 ponies to visit and home cooked food slowly helped him relax. Dad was never going to be one for 'activities' but he loved the concerts and visits by children. He was encouraged to find his own way to feel at home and found a spot where he could sit and chat all day to staff and passers by. As he relaxed he would laugh and joke and tell long (often fanciful) stories. Yes, of course there were bad days, but I never regretted the move from Essex and the fact that Abbots Leigh made Dad's last years as good as they could be.

Mum and Dad both in their 90's moved to Abbots Leigh Manor in July 2024. Mum with Cognitive impairment and Dad with heart problems. Unfortunately Dad passed in September 2024. During his short stay he was looked after by various members of staff who were all caring and compassionate. The home manager
was always available to us during this difficult time. Mum has stayed in the home and all the staff helped her settle in after the passing of her husband of 70 years. Abbots is in a great location with both the home and extensive gardens are well maintained. The activities staff work hard to engage with the residents to make daily life in an old peoples home as varied as it can be. Any issues with mum are recorded and promptly communicated to me. My wife's employment required her to visit most of the homes in the Bristol area and cannot she cannot think of a better place for my mother to be. I would not hesitate to recommend Abbots leigh Manor.

I cannot fault the care provided at Abbotts Leigh. Each and every member of staff seems to take ride in their work and show nothing but kindness to residents.
My sister has now lived there for nearly 8 months and is settled and content. Her room is beautiful and always clean and fresh. She eats well
and has even gained a little weight. As a family we could not ask for more. I visit 3 or 4 times a week and am always greeted with warmth.

Lovely Victorian property with nice gardens. My dad has been a resident for 1 1/2 years. He seems settled. The staff and carers are friendly and welcoming. Me and my sister had New Years Day Lunch at the home with dad and the other residents which was very nice.

Lampton House is a small, caring Home with a very pretty garden and various planned activities. Mum was resident at Lampton House for 6 years, until her needs became too complex and she transferred to a Nursing Home. Whilst Mum had minimal physical care needs she had other complex needs. The Manager
and staff dealt with these with care and compassion. I cannot thank them enough for the patience and understanding they consistently demonstrated, not just to Mum, but to me and my sister as well. Whilst the Manager, my sister and I thought Mum would spend the remainder of her life at Lampton House, sadly Mum's need's became far too complex. The Manager was key in ensuring that the right Nursing Home was found for Mum for which my sister and I are very grateful. We wholly recommend Lampton House.

Mum has been at Abbots Leigh for around 18 months following a severe stroke. She has significant care needs and the staff at the home helped her settle in quickly and are always friendly and caring. when mum has experienced periods of discomfort they have identified the problem and taken appropriate
action promptly. When we visit we are always made to feel welcome and the atmosphere feels like one big family. There are always different activities happening and the activities team are always open to suggestions for more options. The manager is always happy to discuss any aspect of mums care and any concerns we might have. We are very happy with the care mum has received at Abbots Leigh and would recommend it to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one (or Themselves).

Abbots Leigh Nursing home has been wonderful for my Mum for the last 10 months. She settled in very quickly at the beginning of her time there because she had been a few times for respite care in 2024 so it was very familiar to her.
The staff and Management have made her feel welcome and safe. They
are very kind, caring, attentive and considerate. My Mum particularly loves the activities as there is always something on that she finds entertaining. We really appreciate the home cooked food and thought that goes into freshly prepared meals. I always talk about Abbots Leigh very highly to others, and so does my Mum.

My mother has lived at Abbots Leigh Manor for over a year and is very well settled there , thanks to the support of Kathy and her excellent team. Everyone - nursing staff, carers, wellbeing team, reception, gardener - do their bit to make this a comfortable, welcoming and inviting place to live. My
mother particularly loves the view from her room, the garden, which is beautiful by any standards, the programme of creative and cultural activities and trips out, especially if they involve an art gallery and a stop for cake somewhere.
The team have supported her health and wellbeing on every level - with problems identified quickly and appointments or interventions managed efficiently. It is such a relief not to have to worry if she is OK or whether an issue needs medical attention.
The village has a lovely cafe in the pub (fire in winter, garden in summer) and we have become regulars. The garden centre down the road has a nice tea shop too. I could not recommend AL more highly.

My father had vascular dementia and was resident at Stainsbridge House from June 2023 to January 2025, when he died peacefully. The staff were fantastic with him and understood his needs. The manager Mandy was understanding of my families needs too. There is a male only floor, which in the latter stages
of my father's illness made me feel that he was safe. Staff kept me updated with any falls or issues he had had. The staff, all involved with my dad, kept me informed when the end was near. They all said goodbye to him on his last night, holding his hand and showing him so much respective. They are amazing people.

My mother in law has been a resident at Stainsbridge House for almost 7 years. The care she has received during this time has been exceptional. She has been treated with compassion and empathy throughout the decline in her health (due to Dementia). All staff and volunteers have always acted in a caring
and professional way. They have routinely gone above and beyond in all aspects of the support given - both physically and emotionally.
When my mother in law passed away, in her room at The Stainsbridge, the staff kept us up to date and informed of any changes. They were extra kind and thoughtful during the last few days. When the end came, all the staff on duty paid their respects - they took turns to hold her hand and say goodbye. We will always remember this and be very grateful for everything, everyone at The Stainsbridge did for both my mother in law and ourselves.

My Aunt was well cared for with dignity and patience. The staff were always trying to meet her needs and were so supportive of us as a family.
My sister's and I visited most days and were always made to feel very welcome and part of the Stainsbridge family. There was always a calm atmosphere in the
home. The manageress was always happy to discuss and resolve any needs that arose. Nothing was too much trouble.
The food was good and varied to meet my Aunts likes and dislikes and she was encouragaged to eat well.
After 2 years at Stainsbridge Auntie passed peacefully away. During her final few days we as a family were shown compassion and support.
I would be happy to recommend Stainsbridge House.

I have been a resident at Abbots Leigh nursing home on three separate occasions for periods of six months or more receiving respite care.
Prior to Abbots Leigh, I spent time in two other care homes nearby and neither were able to offer the quality of care and attention that I now receive.
The food
is fresh and plentiful with choices at every meal. I enjoy a full English breakfast, cooked lunch and homemade soups in the evening.
I feel very fortunate to have found this nursing home and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

This review is well overdue so thought it was time to put pen to paper so to speak.
My Dear Mother spent over 18 months at Abbots Leigh Manor until her passing last September, she had been very happy during her stay and had a wonderful room overlooking the garden and green fields beyond (always trying
to spot the occasional deer in the long grasses). She thoroughly enjoyed the food especially the roast lunches on a Wednesday and Sunday, she was regularly asked if she had any particular favourites not listed on the everyday extensive menu and if she had the chef would kindly oblige. She loved the beautiful well stocked gardens and loved to take part in the Wednesday garden club which is extremely popular with the residents.
During the end of Mum's life, the dignity, respect and care shown by the staff was exceptional and a great comfort to me during that very difficult time.

Glad Mum is cared for here. The room is homely and cosy. She's not demanding but feels a little more attention would do no harm considering she pays the same amount as residents who are completely dependable on carers. She's left to her own devices a lot of the time and moans to her offspring which
we can't do anything about. We do our best to make her feel happy but the food is the main issue. It's bland and simple so she looks forward to us taking her home-cooked meals. We aren't a family to judge but for the money to stay here things could be improved.
Reply from D Gillespie, Nominated Individual at Abbots Leigh Manor Nursing HomeThank you for leaving a review. We are pleased to hear that you are glad your mother is cared for at Abbots Leigh Manor but we are disappointed to hear that she 'moans' to you because she tells us that she's happy to be with us. Your mother joins in with our activities most days but if she decides to stay in her room we must respect her wish to do so but we encourage her to attend activities whenever she's in the mood. Our cook has regular conversations with your mother about her food likes and dislikes and your mother tells us that she's happy with the meals she receives but we will continue to engage with her about her food choices. We give your mother small portions because that's what she requests.

My sister was a resident of Stainsbridge House for eighteen months and I was constantly impressed by the level of care, compassion and good humour displayed by the staff. I was kept informed of any relevant matters relating to the care programme and activities for the residents were well organised and
imaginative.
