This review is to express my extreme gratitude for all the care and dignity shown toward my dad - from the start until the very end. I was moved by the level of compassion, which really came sharply into focus during the last couple of weeks, which make an immense difference. I've not been so touched.
My
father was able to express himself, and the care staff really knew him. I am so pleased he was given that opportunity, even though he was way past top from by the time he arrived here. It's not often that a business has a slogan up the front (along the lines of 'they don't live in your place of work, you work in their home') and actually lives up to it!
I would recommend this care home to everyone.

Magdalen House is a truly exceptional care home; the staff are some of the kindest and most dedicated people you could ever hope to meet. They cared for my friend with compassion and dignity throughout his stay. Nothing ever seemed too much trouble, the food was well balanced and of excellent quality,
and a full activities schedule to keep everyone entertained. When you walk into Magdalen, it's like a hotel; it is always spotlessly clean, and a relaxed family feel to it. I was very lucky to have found this home and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who was considering moving into full time residential care.

My mum started to go to the centre after a stroke which left her with aphasia and short term memory loss, which has now developed into vascular dementia. The care that the staff provide is in my opinion is excellent. They are patient, friendly and so understanding. The admin team are so accommodating
and understanding. There is a hairdressers and visiting entertainment regularly and day trips throughout the year. My mum thoroughly enjoys going and looks forward to seeing the staff.
I would highly recommend this service.

My mother was in Guild House for roughly 2 1/2 years towards the end, she passed away 1st Feb 2026 she was reliant on help for all tasks. Staff very attentive and coped with mums little foibles with patience and kindness. Although not mobile she was encouraged to attend the many events which she enjoyed
taking part in. Encouraged through conversation to keep her mind active re: memories and family. She was always saying how happy she was there + being well looked after!! Thanks Guild House for your care.

The care my mother received was second to none and I cannot thank the manager and staff enough. Best of all were the daily activities that kept the residents occupied. No one is left vegetating in their rooms or dumped in a chair in a communal lounge unless that is their personal choice. Never in a
million years did I expect to see my mother doing Tai Chi at the age of 90. Guild House be proud you are amazing!

My brother was so well looked after at Guild House. We had had a really bad experience at another home during his respite care and Guild house was like a haven. We really can't fault it. The staff were so caring and did everything, under very difficult circumstances, to make my brother's last few
months as comfortable as possible.
Reply from Emma Gardner, Registered Manager at Guild House Residential HomeThank you so much for sharing these kind words. All of us at Guild House are truly grateful that you entrusted us with your brothers care. We are deeply sorry for the difficult experience you had elsewhere, but we are glad to know that our team was able to provide comfort, dignity, and support during such an important time.
Your feedback means a great deal to our staff, who work hard to ensure every resident feels safe, respected, and well cared for. We will make sure your comments are shared with the whole team.
Please dont hesitate to reach out if there is ever anything more, we can do for you or your family.
Warmest regards,
Guild House Team

I am very happy with the care that my Dad receives at Magdalen House. The staff are supportive, kind and caring. From day one, they have treated him with respect and made him feel welcome. They encourage him to participate in the organised activities, and capture his involvement by taking photographs.
I am so pleased that he is able to enjoy himself at the care home. I visit regularly, so I see first hand how the staff interact with him and the other residents. They are friendly, patient and thoughtful. Magdalen House is very modern and feels like you are in a hotel! The communal areas as well as the bedrooms, are beautifully decorated and kept clean and tidy. Many family members have visited Dad in the care home, and they always comment on how lovely the decor is. I feel very fortunate to have found this wonderful care home for him, where he is safe and receiving great care.
Reply from Emma Wichard, Head of Operations at Magdalen House Residential HomeThank you very much for your positive feedback. We will ensure the team is aware of your kind words. It is a pleasure being entrusted to care for Dad.

Mum had been a resident at Guild House since 2018. She was extremely happy there and couldn't have been better cared for even if she was the Queen. As her dementia deteriorated every care was taken to cater for all of her needs and when she passed the staff also cared for us. An amazing group of people
for which we will be forever grateful. Bless every one of them.

I have found the Kimbrose Club to be a wonderful facility for my husband. The staff are cheerful, friendly, very caring and nothing is too much trouble. He attends at least two days per week and is kept fully occupied with suitable games, puzzles, art work and conversation. A freshly cooked two course
lunch is provided together with frequent drinks and snacks. I am happy to leave my husband in such good hands knowing that he will be well cared for.

My parents first came to Guild House Residential Home for respite, following hospital stays. That had been having home care visits, but we're falling and not managing. The staff at the home made them feel safe and secure. They decided to stay. They particularly enjoy all the activities and outside entertainers
that come in. My dad loves the home made food. All the staff treat my parents with dignity and respect. It is a great weight off my mind knowing that they are so well looked after. Thank you.

Magdalen House Residential Home is a lovely residential home with very caring staff. My parents had a double room and were very well cared for. Sadly Magdalen House decided to de-register as a nursing home and my parents had to leave. However we will always be grateful for the eight weeks or so, that
my parents were able to enjoy going out on trips and being well cared for. The nurse that cared for my father was second to none and brought him back to health long enough to settle my mother into her new nursing home (St Faiths) which is exceptional.

My mum has been attending Kimbrose for years since she had been diagnosed with dementia. The staff are simply brilliant. So happy, supportive, caring and friendly. Kimbrose provide dementia-friendly activities that really benefit their users. I could not think of a better daycare centre for her to attend.
Thank you all.

I could not be happier with the care and attention my beloved wife, who has advanced dementia, receives as a resident at Guild House in Gloucester.
All the staff, from the senior management team down to those charged with the most basic tasks, are superbly trained in dealing with those in their care
and they do so with dignity and good humour.
On my daily visits, I have been most impressed over the past months that the staff always refer to the residents personally by their first names and are prepared to take time to, listen to, respond to and make eye contact with those in their care.
My wife seems at home at Guild House now, which is a comfort to me beyond measure. She is being looked after there far better than I could possibly hope to do so by myself at home, and I thoroughly recommend this care home to you.

We have been using the Kimbrose Club for a couple of years, during which time my wife's needs have become more complex as her mental and physical state has declined. The Kimbrose Club has taken this in its stride. I can't recommend the Club too highly. Its staff are excellent and very friendly and they
clearly have good relationships with their clients. As a full-time carer, the Kimbrose Club has been a lifesaver. I am pleased to be able to write them a review.

My Mum moved into Magdalen House in January this year. She has received the most excellent care. The staff are kind, patient and very respectful. There is an activity every day if the residents wish to join in. My mum is treated like a person in her own right, and not just a resident. I was so worried
about my Mum going into a care home but she is so happy there and myself and my family are so happy we found an amazing home for my 96-year-old Mum, to live the rest of her life, with so much happiness and treated with dignity.
