My Mum really enjoyed the lovely outing to Saughton Rose Garden last week and the wonderful staff made it a lot of fun.
The activities and exercise classes that Lorimer House provide are very important to her and she particularly likes the Art Club.
She is very well cared for.

As a family, we are very happy with the care and attention that our father receives at Thorburn Manor. The surroundings are very well kept, clean and tidy and staff are very friendly and welcoming. Dad has now been a resident for almost 2 years and is very settled and content and his room overlooks
part of the garden which is very important to him as he spent a lot of his spare time outside. Wonderful care home and a pleasure to visit!

My wife went into Thorburn Manor Care Home due to dementia and mobility problems six months ago. The care home has an excellent ambience and she was made feel comfortable from the start with an efficient, stable and very friendly workforce. I have been kept informed of how she is doing by the staff
who have tolerated with good humour my frequent visits. She has a good room and there is excellent equipment to deal with her mobility problems. The home has made a difficult decision for my wife and myself to be apart after 60 years of marriage more tolerable to us both.

I find Thorburn Manor an excellent Care Home it has to be rated very highly in every aspect
It is a beautifully kept Home and the gardens exceptional.I like the fact that it is small and feels like a family. It has a calm peaceful atmosphere whenever you enter. The staff are excellent from administration
to nurses, carers.oddjob men gardeners kitchen staff and cleaners all willing to speak with you and keep you informed. They keep the staff no big change over which means a lot. There are plenty of activities and outings for those able and are very well coordinated. There are also many entertainments throughout the year.
I would thoroughly recommend Thorburn Manor to anyone looking for an excellent Care Home.

I can't thank the staff enough for all they do for mum. She has been in the home for close to 3 years now and at the age of 98 is limited somewhat but sees the home as her safe and happy place. Plenty activities to keep her stimulated, excellent one on one care and the home itself is a lovely building
and place to be with plenty of outdoor space to enjoy in the summer. The staff are great and keep mum stimulated as much as they can.

First impressions of Thorburn Manor continue throughout the Home from a beautifully maintained garden for the residents to enjoy with its pond and recently added waterfall and also the nine hole putting area.
Inside the lounge and dining areas on both floors are tastefully decorated allowing residents
ample choices to enjoy the ambience.
The individual resident rooms are of a very high standard and a maintained on a daily basis ensuring maximum comfort and cleanliness.
Breakfasts Lunches, and Evening meals are served in the two restaurants daily and the staff are there to ensure all are catered for
The Staff from the administration to the carers and the behind the scenes personnel are exemplary with an amazing dedication throughout.

Morningside Manor has been so wonderful for our mum who needed a caring, respectful and supportive team to help her live well with advancing dementia. She settled so quickly with their staff kindness and attention to detail and is better than she's been in months despite her health challenges. Thank
you to Ewa, Michael and the whole team for making such a hard decision an easy transition for mum and our family. On 7th April, shortly after moving in, she celebrated her birthday with us all and the staff arranged a beautiful afternoon tea in a private dining room space. It was a special and memorable time for everyone there. We know mum is in safe hands and that any concerns will be communicated quickly and a collaborative plan put in place to maximise her wellbeing. It is so reassuring to know she is receiving proper care now after several years of real concern for everyone. We hope she'll enjoy many more birthdays ahead while with them in addition to being happy in her new forever home

Mum has been a resident in Lorimer House for more than 4 years, and the standard of care has always been excellent.
More recently, however, her health has deteriorated, and the quality of care has gotten even better.
The staff are caring, compassionate, well trained and hardworking; while the frequency
and quality of communication between the family and the management team, has been exceptional.
The home is always clean, bright and welcoming, and Zenab and Ryan are an exceptional managemnt team.
I could not recommend Lorimer House enough, and our family is grateful for the suberb work all the staff do, every day. Thank you

We visited a number of homes in Edinburgh when Mum decided that she couldn't live independently any more after a terminal diagnosis for cancer. We chose Morningside Manor after a visit and Mum moved in. Sadly Mum's health deteriorated (as the doctors had previously predicted) and she passed away after
approx 5 months. Morningside Manor exceeded all of our expectations. The care was outstanding and the staff were fantastic. It allowed Mum to live with dignity surrounded by very caring staff. It allowed the family to focus on Mum without worrying about whether she was being looked after. The family visited every day at random times for the last month or so & we were never disappointed - Mum was always looked after. The home's end-of-life care was tremendous - very careful and thought out; we were kept fully informed and advised on all fronts and above all, the staff were caring, supportive and flexible. I have no hesitation in recommending this home.

Mum moved into Morningside Manor last July, due to her age and dementia. On visiting Morningside Manor and speaking to the friendly team I knew immediately Mum would be happy there. It was welcoming, calm with lovely ensuite rooms and spacious bright lounges.

Everyone made Mum feel very comfortable,

and members of the team would spend time with her helping mum do puzzles and word searches as she always enjoyed these. They also encouraged her to join in group activities and although reluctant to begin with, the photographs show her having a great time.

In December Mum was hospitalised for a couple of weeks but on returning she beamed a smile when she saw the familiar friendly faces of the team she had come to know so well. Sadly, Mum passed peacefully a few weeks later.

The home is excellently managed as one team providing the highest standard of care. They were also a tremendous support to me through difficult times. I can't thank them enough for the care and respect shown to Mum.

I cannot conceive of a Carehome that could give better care to a loved one than that offered by Morningside Manor. They looked after my sister, Fadwa, in the last three months of her life with the greatest of expertise, empathy and dignity. When the time came, they facilitated a calm and painfree passing
with the greatest of care. Even in challenging circumstances, the professionalism and care they showed was above and beyond what we could have ever hoped. The staff are all experts in their field, always happy and smiling and really inspired confidence. Furthermore, they also take care of the needs of the family, leave a lasting impression in our hearts and a desire to maintain a connection. The home itself is beautifully appointed, bright and tastefully decorated with spacious en-suite rooms. It is spotlessly clean and secure. The gardens are beautiful and expertly cared for. I highly recommend Morningside Manor as the ideal place for your loved ones to see out their final days

Went for the wonderful Festive Tea with mum on Wednesday 10th. As always we've been blown away by the thought and effort that the staff put into the day. The room is very festive and attention to detail is superb. The food was delicious and we all had a fantastic time with mum. Thanks again to the amazing

My dear sister died peacefully at the end of November 2025 in Morningside Manor with her family around her.

From the moment we experienced this care home, it was clear that the staff genuinely care about the residents as individuals. They show remarkable patience, kindness, and humanity, particularly

when supporting challenging behaviour. The team will do everything possible for the residents, including advocating strongly to ensure that the best medical care is provided. The home is excellently managed, and families can have complete confidence that their loved ones are in safe, compassionate hands. I cannot recommend this home more highly. Spotlessly clean too.

Enjoyed a great afternoon tea with Helen a friend and work colleague . We have known each other for over 50 years and her daughter Carol is my Goddaughter. Carol was my flower girl in 1971. The chef prepared Lovely food which was a beautiful presentation and
staff, as always, very welcoming.

I

always enjoy my visits and often there is great entertainment in the lounge.

Dad is very well looked after by Thorburn Manor. He has a lovely room with a large window which suits dad as he spends most of his time in there. There is a large range of activities and entertainment for the residents and a beautiful festive tea in December. The staff treat dad with kindness and respect,
ensuring he is comfortable, well fed and hydrated. The home is always clean and very well maintained, beautifully decorated at certain times of year, to suit the occasion. They even organised a spectacular Diamond Anniversary party for mum and dad last year. Thank you, Thorburn Manor, dad and his family appreciate all you do.
