On my visit on 19/7/25 had a lovely visit, as I saw the staff working so hard, my auntie was so nicely dressed and well presented, looking so nice, the manager and the team worked so hard during my visit and gave me a cup of tea for my journey back to Bristol. The staff at Marula Lodge are outstanding. They are extremly good at their jobs providing: care, patience, respect and kindness to all residence. My father has recieved the best care possible and I would have no hesitation in recommending Marula Lodge as an excellent care home.

Cant think of a better place for my brother to be looked after not one thing we would change. Staff are excellent so we always feel happy when we leave him there.

Since my husband has been here I cannot praise them enough. The staff are excellent. I feel when I am not there he is well looked after and so I have no worries when I leave him.

So happy to see my brother back in his chair- last visit 3 weeks ago when he was confined to his bed he now seems to be much happier with some smiles and almost able to converse. All in all we are thankful to Marula team for their care and attention given to my brother.

The care provided to residents is good and I feel assured that my Dad is in a safe environment.


Staff are always friendly and welcoming. The turnover of staff seems to be low, which means residents can familiarise themselves with the carers and staff.


Rooms are a reasonable size and are generally

kept clean and tidy.

Overall I am very happy with Marula Lodge. My husband is very well cared for and is always clean and well dressed. The staff are very professional while being friendly and respectful to residents and visitors alike. My husband seems happy to be at Marula Lodge. The home has a welcoming and happy atmosphere.
The new management has had a positive influence on the residents, staff and visitors.

I was really worried about my mum going into a nursing home after having such fantastic care in the hospital.
We needn't have worried as all the staff have made us all so welcome from the start and Mum settled very quickly.
We are so grateful that a place at Marula was available.

The team at Marula lodge are excellent and very patient with my father.
Especially when he broke his hip.
I highly recommend Marula Lodge as a carehome, dad is well looked after myself and the rest of my family are kept well informed of any changes

My Wife is being cared for by the exceptional wonderful staff at Marula Lodge due to her Alzheimer's diagnosis in January, as her care needs are complex. Every member of the Team are incredible, caring and above all friendly, it brings me peace of mind that she is happy and in a safe environment and
her care needs are being fully met.
The Team lead by the Manager are first class and I cannot thank them enough for everything they do for my wonderful wife. Keep up the exceptional and excellent work that you do.

My father is being cared for by the wonderful staff at Marula Lodge due to his dementia diagnosis and that his care needs are complex.
Every member of the team is incredible- caring, friendly, it brings us peace of mind as a family that he is happy & has his care needs met.
The team lead by the manager
are first class & we can't thank them enough for everything they do for my wonderful Dad.

Very disappointed, only one star re below. The home failed to mark Easter, the most important time in the Christian calendar. I have emailed the home directly and awaited comments. Nothing else to add but review had to be 200 characters long.

I visted my close friend at Marula Lodge on October 29th 2024. Sadly my friend has Parkinson's complicated by progressive dementia, nevertheless, despite remaining dumb throughout my visit, he remains very well cared for by a delightful group of staff members many of whom are Nepalese. My friend and
I met originally in Nepal in 1985 so the relationship between my friend, the staff and myself was extremely cordial. My friend is being very well cared for despite his very poor prognosis.

I have just spent a couple of hours visiting my mother at Marula Lodge on her birthday. It's not the cake supplied by the chef (thank you) or the lovely fuss to make my mum feel special, but the reason I am reviewing is to recognise the kindness and warmth of the staff towards the residents and their
families. There are some truly kind and wonderful people caring for our mum and we thank you and really appreciate you.

My Dad has been at Marula Lodge for over a year now and has moved to Pirbright unit. My mum and the whole family feel the staff look after Dad very well. They are attentive and nothing is too much trouble to ease his pain or make him smile.
Today the staff moved Dad into an armchair very gently even
though they had to use a machine. That is no mean feat as I know he finds it painful. The staff member was wonderful when I asked for a few food items and the whole family had tea to join Dad for lunch. The carer then returned to show us how Dad could now use a pedometer. It was wonderful to see, as Dad’s movement has decreased and this will help to keep his joints moving and muscles working. Well done to the manager for training some fabulous staff to care for our precious Dad.

My dad recently turned 80 and Murula Lodge really went out of their way to make the day so wonderful. When we arrived staff had set up the lounge with cards, balloons and party food. We are very happy with the care our dad receives. Thank you to all the staff at the home.
