Bernash is absolutely amazing! We viewed many care homes for my aunt and just didn't get the right feeling. The moment we stepped into Burnash we were greeted by the manager Shelley, we knew then that this was the place.
The staff are fantastic, caring, professional, hard working and each comes with
a great sense of humor and knowledge of all the residents inside out.
They all work so hard to make sure all residents are happy and have activities each day to do.
They all love the music, dancing and the managers little dog Nova!!
Shelley goes above and beyond and has helped me and my sister so much with out aunt.
Our aunt is now happy and safe living at Burnash and we have had a huge weight lifted off our shoulders knowing she is receiving the best care possible!
Thank you everyone at Burnash!

Mum went into Bernash the end of 2025. Mum was no longer safe at home, it wasn't easy for myself and my sisters to make the decision for Mum to go into a care home, but needed!! We have found Bernash to be friendly, all staff are professional, always a smile on their faces. The care the give the residents
is individual care which is whats needed, they really get to know the residents. It's very much home from home. I can't think of where better for Mum. As a family we are very happy with Bernash.
Reply from Shelley Turnbull, Manager at Bernash Care HomeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We understand how difficult the decision can be to move a loved one into a care home, and we're so pleased to hear that you and your family feel reassured and happy with Mum's care at Bernash. It means a great deal to us that you've found our team to be friendly and professional, and that the personalised care we provide has made a positive difference. Creating a warm, "home from home" environment is something we strive for every day, and it's wonderful to know that this has come across in your experience. Your kind words will be shared with the team, who will be very encouraged by your feedback. Thank you again for your trust and support-it really does mean a lot to us all.

The care here is second to none. Fabulous staff who really care about the residents and treat them with utmost respect and kindness.
The manager is present and engages with residents and relatives with openness and transparency
There are many activities for able residents to participate in and the
atmosphere is happy and filled with fun and laughter.
The room is small and basic but that doesn't matter as it's the care that counts here.
Highly recommend the team and we can't thank them enough for all that they do.

My mum moved into Bernash at the end of 2025. It was an upsetting decision and time for our family. However, any doubts or concerns I had were quickly gone. The staff are all kind, caring and considerate to both the residents and visitors. My mum has 24 hour care and the company of staff, other residents
and the many visitors that visit Bernash daily. The staff have taken the time to get to know my mum, her likes and dislikes.
The home itself is warm and clean. Any questions you have are answered and everyone is happy to help. Activities are run for the residents to help keep them motivated and alert and visitors are invited to join in. Special occasions such as birthdays etc are celebrated and each resident gets their special day. A nurse goes to the home weekly to check on the residents and will help with any health queries i might have about my mum. They also have a hairdresser who visits the home and for a reasonable fee they will wash, cut and blow dry the residents.

We moved our mum into Bernash in January this year. We were so upset at having to make the decision but the staff have been wonderful. The care is amazing, the staff are so lovely and the place feels homely. My mum is happy, well cared for and eating so much better than when she was at home. The
residents have plenty to do and there are always lots of activities planned. Residents families are made to feel welcome to visit at any time.

We were worried about putting mum into care but the staff at Bernash have been absolutely fantastic. Lots of activities and staff go above and beyond. Home always clean and tidy and the care for residents is fantastic. I can now spend quality time with mum. The staff quickly get to know each resident
and encourage them to join in with everyone. They also celebrate days such as valentines and make each resident feel special and welcome.

We have moved my mum in Jan 2025 to the home. We have been very impressed with the care she has received. There are plenty of activities for her to join in with. They decorate the home depending on whats being celebrated ie - valentines, Easter, mothers day. It makes it looking very cheerful. If anything
has happened to mum they will ring and inform me of whats happened. Very happy that mum has moved here.

My mother-in-law moved to this home in Jan 2025. We have been very impressed with the level of care she has received. Nothing is too much trouble and she is well looked after. It can be very stressful moving loved ones into a home but the staff have helped us all the way. There are lots of activities
for her to join in with and there is always something going on. They decorate the home when celebrating different holidays which make it.

My mum has dementia and went in for a little respite and 6months later still at Bernash. The manager and the team are amazing and made the whole transition as smoothly as possible. The place is clean and tidy . Home cooked food and activities always going on .
If it wasn't for Bernash I'm not sure
what situation my mum would have been in now . I can now enjoy quality time with mum rather than being her carer , she is safe and I sleep much better at night knowing she has the support and care 24/7 which I'm unable to provide .

My Dad did not want to go into a care home, he had been independent since my Mum died and was adamant that he could look after himself, but after a stay in hospital it was clear that he could not go back home.
He did not make life easy for the staff at Bernash but they were unfailing patient in caring
for him and eventually they won him over.
As a family we were very happy with the care he received at Bernash. The staff are great and there always appeared to be a happy and settled team on who they understood the needs of the residents.

I found that the care and treatment I received whilst spending a month in respite care whilst my wife was in hospital was absolutely first class. All the members of staff were kind, caring and compassionate.
They dealt with all my requests with cheerfulness and efficiency.

I visited recently and was not looking forward to it as my grandmother had been moved into Bernash Care Home.
I should have had no worries at all as the service was amazing and the care shown to my family member was of the best quality.
The staff really care - especially the manager who has the patience
of a saint.
My grandmother has settled well and I now know that she is in the best place and in the safest pair of hands.

My mother has been living in Bernash Care Home for about six months. The prospect of transferring her from her own home into care was distressing, but as soon as the manager and her team were involved they did everything they could to carry the burden of the process, taking exceptional care of my mother
and us as a family, making the move as easy as possible for all concerned. Staff's expertise is reassuring. This really is a ‘care’ home. Every member of staff, whether the manager, the care team/leaders, or those responsible for finance, catering, maintenance or cleaning, are friendly and seem to really know and care for my mother, understanding her unique needs, behaviours and interests and giving her time and attention. Bernash is welcoming to family and friends, and open and thorough in its communication. I have visited quite a few specialist care facilities, but none have compared with Bernash in terms of the sense of family and genuine feeing of ‘home’ that it provides.

My sister and I have nothing but praise for the way our mum was looked after. Mum went into Bernash Care Home in 2021 and passed away in February 2023 and during that time the care she received was exceptional. We visited regularly and we were always welcomed warmly by the staff. We witnessed residents
treated with dignity and respect. Every concern we had was dealt with immediately and with professionalism. Mum's final few weeks were difficult because she was in pain but the staff went above and beyond to make her comfortable. We have huge respect for the job the manager and her team do and are incredibly thankful Mum was able to spend her last years at Bernash.

The staff at Bernash cared for my uncle for just over 2 years until his death in February 2023. This is the first care home I have been in that doesn't have unpleasant smells, I never heard a raised voice all I heard was laughter, kindness and compassion for residents and their families. We were always
made welcome, my uncle said the food was like being in a 5-star hotel. He had lots of fun and laughter with the staff and they with him. The care home communal areas were always clean as was my uncle's bedroom and bathroom kept spotlessly clean. His personal care by the staff was also done on a daily basis and clean clothes everyday put on him. He could be difficult because of his dementia but the staff was patient and kind. I cannot recommend this care home and its staff highly enough. The care and compassion they show are exemplary. Thank you all at Bernash you are amazing we are forever grateful.

After many years of despair, my 91-year-old sister refused to leave her home, angry with us for even suggesting she did. Her husband having died, at every visit, she spoke of loneliness. I am the nearest relative, but 20 miles away; she has no family of her own. No one living nearby. She is a very sociable
being, and intruded on neighbours, whether they wanted her or not! Out wandering at night, 2 am, moving neighbours recycling bins to look for the cat! Brought home in a police car, having been found wandering in a large store a fair distance away. One next-door neighbour very kindly said he would look out for her, which ended up with him going over to her house - often, doors left open, seeing no lights on, although dark, and she was asleep in bed! Then she started to fall, day and at night but couldn't get up -horrendous! Then subsidence struck. Work couldn't be done with her in the home.
That she let us move her is an absolute miracle! She's no longer lonely and feels happy and secure!
