Bernash Care Home is a luxurious care home set in the heart of Bristol and offers dementia care, residential care, respite and day care.

Leaving home can be a challenging time, so to ensure the smoothest transition, Bernash Care Home boasts an authentic ‘home from home’ experience to help new residents settle.

Established since 1982, this traditional detached residential property, feels less like a hospital ward and more like a home. With only a maximum of 23 residents, this select group can comfortably interact and form new bonds.

The bedroom suites are designed to give residents luxury, privacy and independence. All rooms are equipped with TV and telephone points and a lift provides easy access to all first-floor suites. The majority of the bedrooms have an en-suite and the rooms are both spacious and comfortable.

All the bedrooms and en-suites have a nurse call point which offers residents rapid access to a carer 24 hours a day.

There are two separate lounges in which to socialise and enjoy the company of fellow residents. One of which is a quiet lounge, so there is plenty of opportunity for private moments by yourself or with your loved ones too.

Staff also recognise the importance of activities and invest a lot of time making sure residents enjoy every day. With dedicated activities co-ordinators, there is a full programme of events on a daily basis, many of which actively encourage participation from family, friends and the local community.

In beautiful surroundings, with a team of people who are passionate about what they do each day and by aiming for excellence in every area, the care home makes the experience of living in a care home a fantastic life experience, as well as the best place to receive exceptional care.

My Sister needed a care home for her Dementia illness, my two nieces and I looked at several care homes then we came across Bernash who is now caring for my sister.
We were greeted by Shelley the manager prior to my sisters admission who was absolutely wonderful in showing us around and her professional
approach was exemplary and her knowledge and advice was brilliant. The whole team at Bernash are caring helpful staff who go that extra mile to give the best to the residents, there is lots of fun and activities and the meal options are wonderful with lots of tea breaks and cakes etc.We are so happy that my sister is here at Bernash as she has been more relaxed and we no she feels safe and cared for, we couldn't ask for anything better as this is the best.. a big thank you to Shelley and her team.

Bernash is absolutely amazing! We viewed many care homes for my aunt and just didn't get the right feeling. The moment we stepped into Burnash we were greeted by the manager Shelley, we knew then that this was the place.
The staff are fantastic, caring, professional, hard working and each comes with
a great sense of humor and knowledge of all the residents inside out.
They all work so hard to make sure all residents are happy and have activities each day to do.
They all love the music, dancing and the managers little dog Nova!!
Shelley goes above and beyond and has helped me and my sister so much with out aunt.
Our aunt is now happy and safe living at Burnash and we have had a huge weight lifted off our shoulders knowing she is receiving the best care possible!
Thank you everyone at Burnash!

Mum went into Bernash the end of 2025. Mum was no longer safe at home, it wasn't easy for myself and my sisters to make the decision for Mum to go into a care home, but needed!! We have found Bernash to be friendly, all staff are professional, always a smile on their faces. The care the give the residents
is individual care which is whats needed, they really get to know the residents. It's very much home from home. I can't think of where better for Mum. As a family we are very happy with Bernash.
Reply from Shelley Turnbull, Manager at Bernash Care HomeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

The care here is second to none. Fabulous staff who really care about the residents and treat them with utmost respect and kindness.
The manager is present and engages with residents and relatives with openness and transparency
There are many activities for able residents to participate in and the
atmosphere is happy and filled with fun and laughter.
The room is small and basic but that doesn't matter as it's the care that counts here.
Highly recommend the team and we can't thank them enough for all that they do.

My mum moved into Bernash at the end of 2025. It was an upsetting decision and time for our family. However, any doubts or concerns I had were quickly gone. The staff are all kind, caring and considerate to both the residents and visitors. My mum has 24 hour care and the company of staff, other residents
and the many visitors that visit Bernash daily. The staff have taken the time to get to know my mum, her likes and dislikes.

The home itself is warm and clean. Any questions you have are answered and everyone is happy to help. Activities are run for the residents to help keep them motivated and alert and visitors are invited to join in. Special occasions such as birthdays etc are celebrated and each resident gets their special day. A nurse goes to the home weekly to check on the residents and will help with any health queries i might have about my mum. They also have a hairdresser who visits the home and for a reasonable fee they will wash, cut and blow dry the residents.

We moved our mum into Bernash in January this year. We were so upset at having to make the decision but the staff have been wonderful. The care is amazing, the staff are so lovely and the place feels homely. My mum is happy, well cared for and eating so much better than when she was at home. The
residents have plenty to do and there are always lots of activities planned. Residents families are made to feel welcome to visit at any time.

We have moved my mum in Jan 2025 to the home. We have been very impressed with the care she has received. There are plenty of activities for her to join in with. They decorate the home depending on whats being celebrated ie - valentines, Easter, mothers day. It makes it looking very cheerful. If anything

My mum has dementia and went in for a little respite and 6months later still at Bernash. The manager and the team are amazing and made the whole transition as smoothly as possible. The place is clean and tidy . Home cooked food and activities always going on .
If it wasn't for Bernash I'm not sure
what situation my mum would have been in now . I can now enjoy quality time with mum rather than being her carer , she is safe and I sleep much better at night knowing she has the support and care 24/7 which I'm unable to provide .

My Dad did not want to go into a care home, he had been independent since my Mum died and was adamant that he could look after himself, but after a stay in hospital it was clear that he could not go back home.
He did not make life easy for the staff at Bernash but they were unfailing patient in caring
for him and eventually they won him over.
As a family we were very happy with the care he received at Bernash. The staff are great and there always appeared to be a happy and settled team on who they understood the needs of the residents.

I visited recently and was not looking forward to it as my grandmother had been moved into Bernash Care Home.
I should have had no worries at all as the service was amazing and the care shown to my family member was of the best quality.

My mother has been living in Bernash Care Home for about six months. The prospect of transferring her from her own home into care was distressing, but as soon as the manager and her team were involved they did everything they could to carry the burden of the process, taking exceptional care of my mother
and us as a family, making the move as easy as possible for all concerned. Staff's expertise is reassuring. This really is a ‘care’ home. Every member of staff, whether the manager, the care team/leaders, or those responsible for finance, catering, maintenance or cleaning, are friendly and seem to really know and care for my mother, understanding her unique needs, behaviours and interests and giving her time and attention. Bernash is welcoming to family and friends, and open and thorough in its communication. I have visited quite a few specialist care facilities, but none have compared with Bernash in terms of the sense of family and genuine feeing of ‘home’ that it provides.

My sister and I have nothing but praise for the way our mum was looked after. Mum went into Bernash Care Home in 2021 and passed away in February 2023 and during that time the care she received was exceptional. We visited regularly and we were always welcomed warmly by the staff. We witnessed residents
treated with dignity and respect. Every concern we had was dealt with immediately and with professionalism. Mum's final few weeks were difficult because she was in pain but the staff went above and beyond to make her comfortable. We have huge respect for the job the manager and her team do and are incredibly thankful Mum was able to spend her last years at Bernash.

(1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
