their very best to make her comfortable and care for all her needs. All the staff ( management and care staff) were very friendly and approachable and they always made me very welcome when I visited Mum. I always left Astral Lodge knowing that Mum was in very safe hands.

Staff did everything possible to keep her clean, fed & comfortable during that time.
Our whole family were extremely grateful to them all.
They showed care & compassion throughout & Mums dignity was respected at all times.

the staff, the care they have, and most recently (July 2025) our uncle had to have a major operation, but just 4 weeks later he is eating well, more repsonsive, and looks content. This is certainly down to the care he and our auntie both receive at Aarandale Lodge

We will be forever grateful for everyone's care and patience with him at the home. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who has a loved one with dementia needing great care.

for me and my family a lot easier to bear. All the staff at Astral Lodge were professional and incredibly patient with dad right up to his passing in May and the end-of-life care he was given will never be forgotten by us. Thank you all.

in the home (really?) was out of action all over Christmas. Mum and Dad’s first Christmas apart for 64 years - unacceptable. And not even an apology.
Very generic responses to enquires about his well-being - “he’s eating and sleeping well”. No personal details.
The deterioration in Dad was shocking. In the short time he’d been at Aarandale before we moved him, he’d become incoherent, basically immobile, filthy dirty, unshaven and wearing other residents ill-fitting clothes. He’d also developed a nasty, untreated, fungal infection due to poor hygiene, and his catheter bag was dragging on the floor.
Care? I don’t think so. Degradation and lack of respect - very much so.

lady in charge goes out of her way to make sure residents are happy and comfortable and that her staff are doing their job well. The staff look after my mother well and tell me if they have any concerns. They also organise little things for the residents to participate in every so often. Obviously, this year has been difficult with the pandemic.
If my mother is unwell they contact a doctor or nurse to see her and let me know also. She is always warm and well-fed.
I am very happy for my mother to stay in Astral Lodge because of the excellent care she has received over the time she has been there.
