Overall Experience

My dad arrived at Spring Grove in August 2022 for respite care following a spell in the hospital. He was warmly welcomed and immediately made to feel very comfortable and at home, and as a result, he settled in very quickly. His initial 3-week stay was soon extended to 11 weeks! We have nothing but 5-star praise for all the team at Spring Grove - the kindness and constant excellent care my dad received from everyone on a daily basis is a testament to your wonderful carers and all the staff who work so hard and are continually extremely helpful and kind, thus ensuring that my dad's stay at Spring Grove was an enjoyable experience for both of us and we are very grateful to everyone. Thank you so much.

I am extremely satisfied with the care my father is receiving at Spring Grove care home. Since he arrived nearly four and a half years ago, he is treated with great kindness and dignity. The care team cannot do enough for him. Their care is both professional and warm. The entertainment facilities are excellent, and my father feels safe and nurtured. His room overlooks a beautifully maintained garden, and the home is kept very clean. There is a great variety of foods available, which are always fresh and tasty.

She is very comfortable here. You looked after her well when she had a water infection in the autumn. She really enjoys the musical activities and is very happy. Staff are great with her and communicate well with the family.

Overall Experience
Dad joined the Spring Grove family with a degree of Alzheimer’s that deteriorated over the time he was there, but the staff at Spring Grove catered for his evolving needs with great care and attention.
Coronavirus hit when Dad had been at Spring Grove for only 6-months, but we were confident in the team’s ability to keep Dad safe and entertained at such a difficult time. They did what they could with Skype calls and window visits until we were able to visit again.
The team at Spring Grove were always very kind and caring; Dad came to view a number of the team as friends as did we.

As a family, we are very grateful for all that the care team and everyone at Spring Grove did for Dad.

I convalesced at Spring Grove for 14-days, after a hip replacement operation, leaving on 24th December. I had my own comfortable ensuite room with a TV. I had to self-isolate for the first 10-days as I had arrived from a hospital, so could not receive visitors, but was not bored as I had a daily newspaper as well as the TV. The staff were friendly and efficient as they provided my daily personal care and gave me my medication; I am 77-years of age. I was able to choose my meals (three a day) from a wide menu, and they were served in my room. The food was very tasty. My laundry was done every day, so I need not have brought so many clothes with me. The room was always warm and cleaned regularly. The outstanding feature was the staff; on-call and never more than a couple of minutes away. Basically, I was waited on hand and foot for a fortnight, the closest I will ever get to having servants.

Overall Experience

Spring Grove provides excellent care with a friendly and homely environment. Some of the care team have been there for a long time and have gotten to know the residents well. They provide lots of activities that keep the residents stimulated - something so necessary as visiting has been restricted and visits away curtailed with Covid. I am very happy with the care my sister receives.

My father was at Spring Grove for some months of rehabilitation, and I was very happy with the care he received. The staff are so friendly and caring. They ensured he was comfortable, and it was so nice to see him laughing and joking with the carers whenever I came to visit him. They knew members of the family by name and always had time for a chat. It was such a pleasant atmosphere, and I could see that my father was well taken care of. The receptionist was amazing and would always do his best to ensure that he could work out a convenient visiting time slot, taking into account the Government Covid visiting guidelines. The activity timetable had a variety of things to suit a wide range of hobbies and interests. I was happy that the staff encouraged my father to join in, and he loved going for activities. Having the activity schedule sent to relatives was helpful, as I could let the staff know the sort of things my father would like. A brilliant home away from home care home!

The staff at Spring Grove are what really makes the home; they are warm, patient and kind. My mum lights up when one of the staff come in to offer her something, which is very telling of the quality of service provided. The receptionists are a delight, so helpful and accommodating to the relatives as well as the residents. There is a really varied and fun programme of activities available to the residents each week.

Review from J B (Son of Resident) published on 19 July 2021 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

We had looked at quite a few care homes for our then 96-year-old mother. She was increasingly struggling with living at home and we were very pleased to have found Spring Grove, recommended by a friend. The warm atmosphere was immediately apparent, with cheerful, friendly carers and staff. The smiles and laughter from the residents being entertained in the main lounge added to that feel and we were most impressed with the thought and care taken to provide a daily schedule of activities and entertainment. A copy of the schedule is also emailed each week to relatives, together with a really good, creative and amusing newsletter highlighting the past week’s events. The happy environment has been there each of our many visits since our mother moved to Spring Grove. In those 2-years, she has repeatedly told the family how content she is there, and she is always full of praise for the lovely staff. It is so nice to so often see her and the carers pulling each other’s legs and enjoying a laugh and joke together!

"Before moving to the UK, I was a Registered Nurse (RN) working as a staff nurse for three years in an Emergency Care Unit, in New Delhi, India.

I came to the UK in 2007, initially to study for an NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care, as part of understanding both the social and medical care provided in the UK.

Whilst a student I initially worked as a Nursing Assistant on a medical ward in an NHS hospital to provide me with the practical experience needed to complete my coursework.

I was fortunate to be able to work for Springdene Nursing and Care Homes, initially as a Senior Care Assistant at Springview, their care home in Enfield.

As I developed my skills, knowledge and exposure to the care home environment, I was promoted to Team Leader, then an opportunity became available to become an Assistant Manager at Spring Grove, Hampstead and then in 2018 became Home Manager.

Although I did not register as a nurse in the UK, the professionalism and clinical knowledge that I was exposed to as a nurse have helped me to be where I am today. By completing my Diploma in Leadership and Management and working my way up to Home Manager, I feel that I have the necessary skills to lead the team and provide high-quality person-centred care to residents."

“I was late joining the nursing profession and after a career in chemical manufacturing/processing, I decided to retrain as a registered nurse.

During my nurse training, I worked regular shifts as a care assistant in various care homes to both enhance my skills and support my family.

In 2008, I finally qualified as a registered nurse and worked on an acute medical ward, completed my preceptorship and built on my nursing skills and knowledge.

Although I enjoyed my time in a hospital ward, I missed the ‘community’ within a care home and decided to devote my career to supporting people who live in care homes, joining Springdene Group in 2014.

I am proud to work for Springdene Nursing and Care Homes, especially as staff, are committed to bringing joy and enrichment to residents' lives, and how each home has a unique identity and resident community.”
