When we needed to find a care home for my father at short notice last year, a friend recommended Spring Grove, based on her positive experience. Ever since, we have been impressed by and grateful for the professional, responsive and caring team, as well as the home's warm and active atmosphere and the attention to residents' well-being in all aspects of day-to-day life. My father says the staff are consistently kind and patient, which we have also observed, and they know him as an individual, respecting and responding to his preferences. In our experience, all residents are treated with dignity, respect and warmth. The day-to-day care is excellent, including management of health issues, meals and nutrition, and attention to the environment. The activities offered are varied, thoughtfully delivered, and tailored to residents' interests. Communication with us is very good, with telephone updates whenever anything changes, and I feel I can raise any concerns or questions at any time.

My mum, who has dementia, has been a resident at Spring Grove since March 2023. The staff have been so lovely and patient looking after her. And I'm so delighted that many of the staff members have been at the care home since March, giving Mum the chance to form relationships.
I think you all do an amazing job! There is always a smiling face when I come to visit.
Spring Grove always keeps us informed about how Mum is, and they have an excellent GP who visits once a week. They work hard to try to get Mum to join in with the activities.

Thank you for all your excellent care.

Our mother has been so well-cared for at Spring Grove. She moved into Spring Grove in the autumn of 2021. Since then her dementia symptoms have increased, meaning it is often more difficult to get her to do regular tasks such as taking medications, healthy eating and drinking enough fluids during the day. The staff know her preferences well and are always so patient with her and try different ways to persuade her to do things. The environment at Spring Grove is gentle and soothing but with a range of activities that all residents can join in with. Recent renovation works earlier this spring (2023) have meant the addition of a lovely terrace overlooked by trees and plants where residents can relax outside, with friends or family. Staff have been particularly helpful in facilitating phone calls when our mother wants to speak to us (including of course during 'lockdown' measures in Covid when we were unable to visit), and keeping us well-informed about any health updates or concerns.

I would like to thank all at Spring Grove, particularly the carers who attended to my mother, from day to day, for all their patient care over the last two years. It was sad indeed to witness her decline, but the family always felt that the home was doing its very best to look after her well in those particularly difficult Covid-affected years, not least while maintaining a cheerful manner, which cannot always be easy. It meant that we did not have to worry.

The reception staff were unfailingly helpful and positive too.

I have visited my brother on three separate occasions, and each time, I have been impressed by the level of care in Spring Grove. The staff are friendly, respectful to their residents and welcoming to their guests and families. My brother seems happy and relaxed, and the staff who attend to him are always attentive to his needs, which he can no longer express verbally. Thank you for all you do to make him comfortable.

I have been visiting a friend on a weekly basis who has been a resident for almost two years, and in that time, I have found Spring Grove to be a very welcoming and friendly place with very helpful staff who have a positive, caring attitude.
The premises are always clean and tidy.

Residents seem happy they are treated with kindness and dignity.

The staff at Spring Grove have provided friendly, kind, capable, patient and unstinting care for my mother in the last years of her life. Their excellent care means that my mother has been comfortable and at peace in her last months. I have always felt confident that she was in good hands, and it has been a big relief to know she was being so well looked after.
Sadly, my mother couldn't participate in the range of activities provided for residents, but I observed some of these, and the programme of events looked stimulating.
The staff have been always friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated as I had to travel some distance to visit my mother. They are sensitive and understanding.

Spring Grove is well-run and spotlessly clean. It has a friendly, welcoming, family-like atmosphere. I would wholeheartedly recommend Spring Grove to anyone looking for a care home.

The staff at Spring Grive are uniformly kind, caring and highly skilled. My mother has received first-class care, which has been a great relief to us as she became progressively non-verbal. Every interaction I have seen (and there have been many) between staff and my mother has been a joy to see. They have established a real relationship with her, and her pleasure and their presence are great reassurance. We are relieved that she is in such good hands.

In early 2021, my siblings and I were nervous about placing my then 94-year-old mother in a care home. Spring Grove had been recommended. She has been fortunate to receive two years of the highest level of care and attention. The staff are outstanding - they are interested, thoughtful and extremely competent. Their dedication and commitment are extremely impressive. If my mother had arrived earlier and been able to engage in the many lively and varied activities that are offered, I know she would have enjoyed them - especially the classical music and film screenings in the comfortable communal lounges.
The well-kept gardens are lovely, and the home is in a good state.
There are many personal touches, from birthday cards and cakes to holding laptops for 'Zoom' calls to local schools visiting and creating special cards.

We are very glad that we chose Spring Grove for our mother's last home. I can only say 'thank you'.

Review from Nerys T (Cousin of Resident) published on 20 January 2023 Submitted via Website

My cousin has been a resident for many years and has had excellent care and thoughtful attention during her stay at Spring Grove Care Home. Whenever I have visited, I have seen the genuine warmth and dedication of the staff, which is so important. I have a particularly close relationship with one member of staff, who goes out of his way to liaise with me over gifts I send - even wrapping and including a card when I sent an online Birthday gift. She has a warm and light bedroom on the upper floor near a lift and enjoys sitting by the window watching the world outside when she is not downstairs with other residents or outside in the terrace garden in warm weather. She has physical and medical disabilities, which are closely monitored. With fun activities and entertainment, the atmosphere is upbeat and positive, which has been so reassuring over these years of the pandemic. I am so grateful our nephew who found this special and caring care home for my dear cousin.

Our aunt needed full-time care after suffering a breakdown and no longer being able to look after herself. She was initially at a care home for several months, which really didn't work for her. Our search for the right home landed in Spring Grove. Right from the off, we felt the combination of care and activities would be good for her. When she first arrived, she was severely underweight, refusing to walk or even communicate with friends and family. We have been delighted with the improvement we have seen in her to date, physically and in her general mood.

The staff all show a great level of care and kindness both to the residents and to their visiting family and friends.

My review of Spring Grove is entirely positive.
My sister became a resident about 15 months ago, and we regularly visit her.
She is very happy, and because of her dementia, and now regards it as her permanent home with which she is extremely content. She feels safe and well looked after by the staff who I can only praise for their caring and gentle approach. There is a varied list of activities for the residents to take part in, although my sister chooses not to. The staff keep inviting her and are beginning to have some success.
We are always made to feel welcome, and all our queries are dealt with quickly and efficiently.

I cannot think of any criticism to add to balance this review, as I have none. We feel very lucky to have found this home, and long may it continue.

I simply cannot speak highly enough of Spring Grove. It was recommended by my GP when it became necessary to move my mother, who has dementia, into a care home in late October. I had always been reluctant to do this, but a visit to Spring Grove changed my mind. I was immediately impressed by the warm atmosphere, the openness and kindness of the staff, and the evidently excellent collegial relations among the team, which gave me confidence that my mother would be happy, safe and very occupied. She has settled well; the staff are extremely kind and resourceful in caring for her and keeping her engaged and amused, as well as coordinating her medical care; she is benefiting from the company and activities and enjoying the freshly cooked and nicely varied food. The staff make me and other guests truly welcome: it is really like being part of a large extended family. The home aspires to provide professional care in a family setting - no mean feat: but it really succeeds.

My mother settled well at Spring Grove very quickly. Staff are very caring, and there is always a variety of activities for residents. The art offered is especially good. I've been visiting a friend and former colleague of mine at Spring Grove Care Home for two years now and do so on a roughly fortnightly basis. I've always found the staff - whether administrative or care staff - caring, professional and - not least - engaging and fun. The standard of care seems excellent and much effort is put into activities for residents. If I had any criticism at all it would be that the decor is looking a little tired in places but I note that the main lounge is just now being refurbished. It's also worth saying that the admin staff were excellent during the Covid pandemic and were always at pains to make sure that visits were possible.

Wonderful staff at Spring Grove, from reception and management to care staff and cleaning staff; they are all so kind and friendly. They went out of their way to make our father comfortable and to try and include him in activities, even when he was reluctant, thinking up clever tasks he would be interested in to keep him busy. They genuinely care deeply for the residents and their families, and we can't thank them enough for the last five years.

My mother was a resident at Spring Grove from September 2018 until, sadly, she passed away in October 2022.
She settled in quickly and participated in life there until the last few months of her life.
I believe, like most other residents, Mum was not delighted to be in a home, but at the same time, recognised that if she needed to be in a home, as she did, then Spring Grove was an excellent choice.
Throughout her stay, Mum came into contact with many care staff and administrative staff.
Our family came into contact with them during our frequent visits.
I can say that without exception, each member of staff was kind, helpful, considerate and warm towards Mum and made her stay the best it could be.

For that, we are truly grateful and cannot thank everyone enough.

"Before moving to the UK, I was a Registered Nurse (RN) working as a staff nurse for three years in an Emergency Care Unit, in New Delhi, India.

I came to the UK in 2007, initially to study for an NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care, as part of understanding both the social and medical care provided in the UK.

Whilst a student I initially worked as a Nursing Assistant on a medical ward in an NHS hospital to provide me with the practical experience needed to complete my coursework.

I was fortunate to be able to work for Springdene Nursing and Care Homes, initially as a Senior Care Assistant at Springview, their care home in Enfield.

As I developed my skills, knowledge and exposure to the care home environment, I was promoted to Team Leader, then an opportunity became available to become an Assistant Manager at Spring Grove, Hampstead and then in 2018 became Home Manager.

Although I did not register as a nurse in the UK, the professionalism and clinical knowledge that I was exposed to as a nurse have helped me to be where I am today. By completing my Diploma in Leadership and Management and working my way up to Home Manager, I feel that I have the necessary skills to lead the team and provide high-quality person-centred care to residents."

“I was late joining the nursing profession and after a career in chemical manufacturing/processing, I decided to retrain as a registered nurse.

During my nurse training, I worked regular shifts as a care assistant in various care homes to both enhance my skills and support my family.

In 2008, I finally qualified as a registered nurse and worked on an acute medical ward, completed my preceptorship and built on my nursing skills and knowledge.

Although I enjoyed my time in a hospital ward, I missed the ‘community’ within a care home and decided to devote my career to supporting people who live in care homes, joining Springdene Group in 2014.

I am proud to work for Springdene Nursing and Care Homes, especially as staff, are committed to bringing joy and enrichment to residents' lives, and how each home has a unique identity and resident community.”
