Langton's Park is just over the road so it's not any trouble to push her round there for an hour either.
Mum even celebrated her 90th birthday at Ashgrove where staff supplied food, drink and a cake and her friends attended and played music and danced.
Being around others all day has improved Mum's mood immensely. She has gone from loneliness and day dreaming (and endless repeat phone calls) to being contented and feeling part of the crowd...to anyone who thinks a care home is a negative step, it hasn't proved that way for my Mum.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. We're delighted to hear how happy you and your Mum have been at Ashgrove, and it's wonderful to know that she has become part of the community and is feeling more content and connected.

It sounds like her 90th birthday was a very special celebration, and we were so pleased to be able to help make the occasion memorable for her, her family and friends.
Thank you also for highlighting our caring staff, freshly prepared food, garden and communication. Your kind words mean a great deal to the whole team. Most importantly, we're so pleased that Mum is thriving and enjoying life at Ashgrove.
My mum first went into Ashgrove on a respite period but sadly whilst she was there my father died suddenly and she became a permanent resident. We had a few issues with transferring funding and size of room given, but this was agreed with the manager and she was able to stay as it would have been...
It took mum a little time to settle as it wasn't what she was expecting, 18 months on mum is part of the community and is happy. The staff that look after mum are kind and patient. Since she has been in Ashgrove she has gained some much needed weight and I feel she is comfortable with in her environment. I live abroad so I don't get in weekly but I do speak to her and I can always instant message the manager with any questions or concerns, I have kept upto date with any issues and ongoing treatments. Ashgrove whilst not posh is a comfortable, clean care home with lovely staff.
We are pleased that, despite the difficult circumstances surrounding your mum's transition to permanent residency , we were able to work together to ensure she could remain in familiar surroundings.

My lovely father developed Dementia and moved in to Ashgrove Residential Care home nearly a year ago. We chose Ashgrove after seeing a number of other homes. What struck us was the passion and love that we felt the team had for their residents and I'm delighted to say that we were right. Despite...
It's a small, quiet home with a lovely garden. There's always a friendly welcome when I visit and it is always clean and tidy. Admin is efficient and timely. Communication with the family is excellent - a must when one lives so far away. Despite the pressure on care homes these days they have kept very high standards and recruited some brilliant new team members.
I happily recommend them to you wholeheartedly.

The residents' needs are a priority and they ensure any medical issues are dealt with as quickly as possible. The carer team are helpful and responsive at all times. I can't fault the level of care given. The lounge and dining area are pleasant and the food options are suitable for the elderly residents. The bedrooms could do with modernisation but don't let this deter you from choosing this home for your loved one.

The staff were consistently friendly and approachable, always greeting us with a smile and a genuine willingness to help in any way they could. Communication was excellent at all times, which gave us peace of mind knowing we were kept informed and involved in my mother's care.
The care home itself is in excellent condition-clean, tidy, and well-maintained, which made it a comfortable and reassuring environment for both residents and visitors. The staff were always accommodating, going the extra mile with thoughtful gestures such as making us tea during visits, and ensuring that every aspect of our experience was as supportive as possible.

For the last 6 and a half years, thanks to everyone at Ashgrove, she has effectively been living life as if she'd won the lottery, wanting for nothing.
Their affection, dedication and generosity were perfectly demonstrated when Mum turned 100. They insisted on throwing a party, including food, drink, giant balloons and a personalised birthday cake. It was brilliant. Many of the off-duty staff also came along. The whole team deserve enormous credit for a day we'll never forget.

Mum entered into the care of Ashgrove Care Home in July 2022 after a fall and being in hospital. The staff from the beginning have treated her and us with utmost...
Her dementia deteriorated gradually but she still had a sense of humour at times and was loved and she loved the staff. Sadly on the 13th of October 2023 she passed away, the care, attention and dedication by all staff was second to none and we thank everyone at Ashgrove for looking after “Our Mum.”
Thank you for crafting such a heartfelt review. Your mum certainly kept us on our toes, and her absence is deeply felt by both the staff and residents.
