What can I say, from the moment I arrive I’m greeted by all the staff and welcomed into their care home. My visit is expected by them and my name is remembered which makes such a difference to know you and your time is valued by them. The home is always clean tidy and organised all residents are up-dressed and happy.
The manager is always available to greet me and answer any questions and is extremely helpful if I need anything in her usual friendly manner.

The deputy manager is also available and ready to help in any way. The interaction between staff residents and visitors is excellent. I would be pleased for Ashgrove to care for one of my loved ones if needed.

I am very happy with the care, the staff are very easy to talk to and I very much enjoy their company. The food is good, and I get very varied options as I am very fussy with my food at times. My bedroom is one of the best in the home, a real luxury to have lovely patio doors which lead out to the garden which I enjoy in the summer months. The location of the home is really good, as I have the library, shops and a lovely park only across the street, it is also good as the care home is halfway between my sons, so get to see them a lot. The home is very clean and tidy. The manager is lovely and is always smiling and happy to talk. The management is great at ensuring I have everything I need, I don’t want for anything!

I came to Ashgrove Care Home for care as I was no longer able to look after myself. The team, from the moment I arrived have been amazing. The staff are always around to help. The food is great, there is so much choice. My room is cleaned each day and kept so fresh. The Manager of the care home is brilliant, she is always free to talk and really helpful with advice and has a caring nature and very knowledgeable. The deputy manager also is always on hand to encourage me, which is what I need!

My mum was at Ashgrove from March to May 2023. Mum has limited mobility and on top of that, she broke her collarbone joint. The staff at Ashgrove were very friendly and welcoming and attended to all of Mum’s needs. Her treatment was exceptionally caring and respectful and the staff monitored her on a regular basis.
My dealings with management were very good and all my queries were dealt with efficiently and promptly.

In conclusion, my mum was very happy during her stay at Ashgrove. A big well done to all the staff. Thank you.

My mum has been a resident for only a short time at Ashgrove, however, I can honestly say the staff are always friendly and welcoming. They understand that this is new to all of us and are very understanding of the many questions we have thrown at them over the last few weeks. The home itself always looks clean and tidy, there are always multiple staff on hand at any time, and the residents appear happy and well cared for. They have been extremely helpful in pointing us to the right place when we have queries. They have a hairdresser, a Chiropodist and a nail technician who visit regularly and these make the residents feel pampered. My mum seems to have made some friends, and each time we visit she is always sitting with one of them. They are happy for the family to visit at any time that suits us. Thank you to all the staff that care for the residents.

Although relatively new to this home I have found the staff to be caring and will give you the ability to have some privacy in the lounge area during our visit so that I, and my father, can be with Mum. They have also been happy to loan the use of a wheelchair so that I can take Mum to either a nearby manor house and gardens, or the green space by the theatre where we can enjoy the recent good weather and have an ice cream from the supermarket. The home appears clean and Mum's anxiety, where she scratches her arms, has not flared up. This helps me believe that she is settling in and gives me hope that she will be OK here. Management have taken the time to confirm my request and update me on when an optician will visit Mum so she can have a new pair of glasses too which is nice.

Had a struggle with the council to get Mum back into Ashgrove, which is where she had respite. The previous home she was in was doing her no good amongst other problems we had there. Since Mum's been in Ashgrove we’ve noticed a significant change for the good. She’s definitely happier there and being well cared for. It’s the little things that are noticed like her nails being painted. I’d just like to thank all the staff for caring even though Mum can be hard work. Thanks.

My mother, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease was in the home from August 2020 until her death on 6 June 2022. My father joined her in March 2021 and continues to live there. My father is 91 and has many medical conditions but is of sound mind. This gave staff the difficult task of balancing both their needs and allowing them to spend time together without Dad suffering from the stress caused by Mum's condition. It was never going to be perfect but they have both been treated with care and respect. In the period leading up to Mum's death, the staff at Ashgrove Care Home have been fantastic, giving my Dad so much support. OK, it may not be the slickest or glitziest care home in the area, and there have been problems caused by the pandemic and the sector-wide staffing issues but there is a feeling that the staff genuinely care for the residents on a personal level, which is much more important.

I visited Dad and was able to take him out in a wheelchair loaned to me by the care home. He was happy and is obviously being well looked after. When we returned, Dad was greeted in a friendly and welcoming manner and the staff chatted to him about where we had been. He seems to have settled in well and on the occasions that I have visited him, he is always happy and seems to have everything he needs. All the staff I have come into contact with at the home have been very helpful.

The staff are kind, fun-loving, patient, encouraging, and supportive which is paramount when the ones you love are in their care. Grandad has lived in Ashgrove for 7 years. The staff care for, talk to, and treat him as though he was a member of their own family. The trust he has in them is clear to see. Sadly, his deteriorating health has meant that additional adult social and medical care services are needed. Although appointment delays are outside of Ashgrove's control, the persistency is there to ensure the care is chased up and obtained. One particular staff member is my rock! Things do (rarely) go wrong however within Ashgrove. How the situations are handled, through to resolution is of the same level of importance to families as the care. For this reason, I've given an overall score of "good". The managerial aspect of the care home has deteriorated in my opinion, often with a lack of common sense and accountability at the forefront of the individual issues I've personally faced.

My mum was in Ashgrove Care Home for about 5-months. I only gave four stars for the following reason, my family and I found the Covid-19 situation very difficult because we were not able to communicate with our mum very well due to PPE and my mum's hearing. Ashgrove Care Home were very helpful with every request to visit her. The caring staff were very nice to our mum. The administration were very thorough and one member of staff, in particular, was very helpful when needing extra one-to-one care for my mum. The meals were of a good standard. I cannot comment on her room as we were not allowed in it. The home was kept clean.

I can’t give a detailed review as my dad was only there for just over a week before he had to go to hospital.
The manager was really nice, helpful with compassion and professionalism. Giving us a lot of advice and reassurance of my dad's condition, also what to expect.
We had daily updates, sometimes twice as things changed for him. I truthfully feel that this home has great things going for it under this new management.

My dad has to now move on to a nursing home, have still had text messages asking how he is. This is caring.

We’re only 3 weeks into my mother in laws stay, but in that short time, we’ve noticed a tremendous difference in her. She’s happy and contented and even appears to have put on weight. She’s very complimentary about the staff and all they are doing for her. It’s a great relief to us to see this improvement in her. She’s enjoying her surroundings for the first time in a long while. In our dealings with the staff, we have found everyone so helpful and friendly. We haven’t been able to fully see her mixing with other residents due to COVID restrictions, but she seems to be making friends already. Thank you to all the staff, they are doing a fantastic job.

The management and staff are always welcoming and friendly to visitors. They treat the residents with care and respect and ensure their safety by continual monitoring. When my mother was very ill, they were excellent in looking after her and helping her to recover. They make sure the residents are given any help they need with feeding and visits to the toilet. The rooms are clean and tidy. I am very happy my mother is there.

My father has been in Ashgrove for just over one year. We visit at different times and every time he has been clean and presentable. The staff and management have always been courteous and caring.
