I visited Five Oaks myself and can honestly say that it has a really comfortable homely feel, is very well decorated and very much like a family home, which in my opinion is very important to the mental well-being of the residents. The staff are trained to help with medication and I have peace of mind that my uncle is being well looked after. I would recommend Five Oaks.
In the pre-Covid era, Five Oaks had an entertainment manager who arranged a wide and varied range of daily activities. There were usually 2 activities a day, including pantomimes, mini-stage shows, singers, musicians, physical activities, etc.
Five Oaks looks more like a hotel than a care home, which we took into consideration when we originally reviewed the local care homes. This is why my mother-in-law felt at home almost immediately. Our family continue to be extremely happy with the level of care and attention that Five Oaks provide.
I have found the staff are well motivated and doing a very good job under what can be difficult circumstances as some residents can be very demanding.
Staff appear well informed generally and at no time
House keeping is excellent and the restaurant provides a good variety of appetising food.
the local doctor visits every Thursday as does a district nurse and other personal care arrangements are podiatry.
I know that other activities are arranged eg bingo, chair exercises and the like
My father has told me that he feels safe, enjoys the food very much and that he is treated well by all the staff.
it has taken a big weight off my mind.
