Situated by the River Thames and Hampton Court Palace, The Summers is a privately owned care home that provides care for up to 35 older people - some of whom may have dementia.

Located in a quiet, residential cul-de-sac in West Moseley, The Summers is owned and managed by CHD Living Ltd.

The Summers was originally purpose-built for the YMCA, but was refurbished and modernised by CHD Living in 2014. It offers high-quality service in a friendly environment, so that all residents can live their lives, their way. Care is delivered to suit the needs of the individual always with respect, dignity and kindness.

Primary focus is on residential and dementia care, with a secondary focus on respite. The Summers is designed, too, with leading dementia design theory in mind, following the "household" model of care.

The Summers provides specialist care for people with dementia, Alzheimer’s and related illnesses. The home is a state-of-the-art facility made up of four individual wings, each catering for six to ten residents. Each has its own lounge and activities room, too, as well as a dining area with kitchenette. All large, comfortable bedrooms feature full en-suite wet rooms.

Shared facilities include a bistro for residents and their families to use, a hairdressing room, a themed dining room, a choice of three additional lounges, a nail bar and internet corner where residents can use Skype.

The dedicated, skilled team at The Summers always strive to deliver high-quality, person-centred care in a friendly environment.

When Mum's care home closed down, we were lucky to find The Summers. Although Mum was only a resident for 4 months, she was welcomed and treated with respect at all times.


At the end of her life the care she received was second to none, even though she was not aware of anything going on around her.

Thank you to the manager and her staff for their kindness and support.

My Aunt, who recently celebrated her 100th Birthday, has been a resident of The Summers for 2 1/2 years. The staff have always been friendly, professional and caring, treating my aunt with respect and dignity. The activities, outings and theatre trips are to be admired. My previous review indicated
concern regarding a security issue, this has been addressed and the glass sliding doors are now closely monitored.
I would have no hesitation recommending The Summers to anyone looking for an excellent residential home environment for their loved ones.

We cannot express enough how wonderful the care has been for our mother in the past 18 months through to when she just recently passed away. We would not hesitate to recommend The Summers to anyone needing care. The staff were professional and every member of staff gave our mum so much personal care
and genuinely thought the world of our mum and all of our family, making sure they got to know each of us as well. We could not have chosen a better place for our mothers care and we are so grateful to all the staff.

My sister and her husband are residents at The Summers. We aim to visit them on a fortnightly - once monthly basis.
They are always happy and well cared for. The staff appear to be knowledgeable about their needs and safety issues.
The Summers has a nice friendly, homely and caring atmosphere.
The
manager and deputy manager and staff including a housekeeper who we met on our last visit in December are totally patient-centred.

My uncle moved to The Summers after his home became too difficult to live in. He was welcomed immediately and the staff ensured he settled in quickly. He has never been happier. The staff are attentive, respectful and caring. The facilities are clean and plenty of activities and day trips on offer.
His bedroom (en suite) is spacious allowing him to have all his family photography on display and his pictures on the walls. The home most importantly knows his personality and need for routine. They often adapt their usual procedures to fit with his personal needs. Thank you.

My father lived at The Summers from January 2017 till his final illness in June 2017.
Whilst not as fancy as some homes we saw beforehand, the care, attention and friendship he received there was exemplary.
Visiting was unrestricted and his family and friends were always made very welcome. It was
the atmosphere and attitude of the staff here which gave me the courage to try to move my father from his own home, despite the promises I had made, with him and to myself.
I feel The Summers was able to provide my father with a far better quality of life than I was able to at home - even with professional help - for the last few months of his life, in fact, gave my father his life back.
I felt there was a genuine concern for the well-being of the residents, rather than the tick-box culture I had seen elsewhere.

My elderly Aunt is a resident at The Summers. Since the day she arrived almost 2 years ago I have been very impressed with the level of care and kindness they give my Aunt. ALL the staff are very professional polite and friendly.

The relative died on 7th April 2016 after 4 - 5 years at the home. I have just written a letter of appreciation to them stating we are going to let you know of our complete satisfaction with every aspect of our relatives long stay with you.
