Overall my mother seems happy with the home and the staff. She says days are long but I'm not sure if she joins in with the activities provided.

The manager shows great commitment to the residents and Saturdays new menu food tastings was a great success with my mother.

My Father-in-law was made very welcome and has a lovely, well decorated and clean ensuite room.
The staff are always friendly and attentive and give good personal care.
There are plenty of activities should the residents wish to be involved.

My Father-in-law always appears well cared for.

Our brother has been in the care home for a few weeks - the care and attention he has received while being there has been excellent. Every need appears to be catered for; hairdressing, podiatry and eye examinations are all offered. The food is of excellent quality and we are always offered a meal to eat with him. They have a daily activity schedule, which they can attend if they wish to. The staff are plentiful and all very caring people. My family feels confident that he is in a safe environment and is well cared for, which for us is our main priority.

When Mum's care home closed down, we were lucky to find The Summers. Although Mum was only a resident for 4 months, she was welcomed and treated with respect at all times.

At the end of her life the care she received was second to none, even though she was not aware of anything going on around her. Thank you to the manager and her staff for their kindness and support.

My Aunt, who recently celebrated her 100th Birthday, has been a resident of The Summers for 2 1/2 years. The staff have always been friendly, professional and caring, treating my aunt with respect and dignity. The activities, outings and theatre trips are to be admired. My previous review indicated concern regarding a security issue, this has been addressed and the glass sliding doors are now closely monitored.

I would have no hesitation recommending The Summers to anyone looking for an excellent residential home environment for their loved ones.

We cannot express enough how wonderful the care has been for our mother in the past 18 months through to when she just recently passed away. We would not hesitate to recommend The Summers to anyone needing care. The staff were professional and every member of staff gave our mum so much personal care and genuinely thought the world of our mum and all of our family, making sure they got to know each of us as well. We could not have chosen a better place for our mothers care and we are so grateful to all the staff.

My sister and her husband are residents at The Summers. We aim to visit them on a fortnightly - once monthly basis.
They are always happy and well cared for. The staff appear to be knowledgeable about their needs and safety issues.
The Summers has a nice friendly, homely and caring atmosphere.

The manager and deputy manager and staff including a housekeeper who we met on our last visit in December are totally patient-centred.

My uncle moved to The Summers after his home became too difficult to live in. He was welcomed immediately and the staff ensured he settled in quickly. He has never been happier. The staff are attentive, respectful and caring. The facilities are clean and plenty of activities and day trips on offer. His bedroom (en suite) is spacious allowing him to have all his family photography on display and his pictures on the walls. The home most importantly knows his personality and need for routine. They often adapt their usual procedures to fit with his personal needs. Thank you.

Overall Experience
My father lived at The Summers from January 2017 till his final illness in June 2017.
Whilst not as fancy as some homes we saw beforehand, the care, attention and friendship he received there was exemplary.
Visiting was unrestricted and his family and friends were always made very welcome. It was the atmosphere and attitude of the staff here which gave me the courage to try to move my father from his own home, despite the promises I had made, with him and to myself.
I feel The Summers was able to provide my father with a far better quality of life than I was able to at home - even with professional help - for the last few months of his life, in fact, gave my father his life back.

I felt there was a genuine concern for the well-being of the residents, rather than the tick-box culture I had seen elsewhere.
