Manor Lodge is a home from home style care home for the elderly specialising in dementia care. Situated in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of London.

The vision is to provide the best quality care and deliver an activity programme created to benefit physical, mental and social well-being, with a dedicated team of care staff who are trained in all aspects of care and are all experienced in supporting residents living with dementia.

The home provides 16 furnished rooms, half of which benefit from having en-suite facilities. Traditional meals provide a balanced diet and ensure healthy eating for all residents.

The garden is the perfect space for leisurely walks, entertaining and bird watching. The Activity Programme focuses on mind, body and soul through a range of activities such as fitness classes, musical entertainment, arts and crafts, baking, flower arranging and reminiscence games. By getting involved with the activity programme, residents see improvements in their physical health and their emotional well-being.

Providing residential, respite, dementia and palliative care packages tailored to the needs of each individual within a homely setting.

My mother has been a resident at Manor Lodge for some years now and I can honestly say that I have not any doubt that it can be recommended for any person looking for a homely, loving and caring residential home for themselves or a loved one. The staff are all carefully chosen and offer comfort and
safety with a cheerful attitude. All the residents are kept clean and fresh and all food freshly prepared.

As the Activity Coordinator at her care home, Manor Lodge, Ana-Maria brings nearly a decade of experience and a deeply personal journey to her role, one that began with a mop and grew into a mission.


From Cleaner to Coordinator: A Journey of Purpose
Ana-Maria first stepped through the doors of the care home in October 2016, hired as a cleaner. But within just a month, she felt a calling to do more. She transitioned into a carer role, and by 2018, she was serving as a Night Senior Carer, a position she held with pride until April 2024. Today, she leads the home's activity program, crafting daily experiences that bring joy and meaning to residents’ lives.


A Day in the Life: Creating Joy, One Activity at a Time
Ana-Maria’s days are filled with creativity and care. Whether she’s organising games, leading gentle walks, reading aloud, or planning group celebrations, her goal is simple: to make each resident feel seen, engaged, and uplifted.
She finds the greatest reward in the small moment, “Watching residents light up when they’re engaged in something meaningful. Those smiles remind me why I love this work.”


Lessons in the Quiet Hours
One of Ana-Maria’s most cherished memories comes from her early days as a night carer. Two residents, Peter Jefrinson and Rachel Ravell, often struggled with sleep and would call on her for company. Though Ana-Maria was still learning English, Peter and Rachel patiently taught her during those quiet hours. “It was a true exchange,” she recalls. “They shaped both my work and my life.”


Building Trust, One Conversation at a Time
Ana-Maria’s approach to care is deeply personal. She believes in being present, listening intently, and encouraging residents to participate in activities that reflect their interests. “It’s in the small, everyday conversations that trust grows,” she says.
Her colleagues describe her as dedicated, patient, and full of energy, someone who brings warmth into every room she enters. Outside of work, she recharges by reading and taking long walks, a quiet reflection of the calm she brings to her role.
