Hi, my mother has been at Marling Court since December 2020. All the staff are very caring and supportive of my Mother. My Mum has had a lot of falls and I feel Mum is in excellent hands at Marling Court. Staff Support mum in her day to day needs and encourage her to join in the activities. Nothing
is too much trouble and the staff are always happy and have a smile.

I am very satisfied with the care given to my husband. The carers are very kind and hard working. All of the staff are experienced, and I have always found them helpful in all situations. Visiting is well organised, and it is particularly lovely that we are now able to hold the hands of our loved ones.
During the pandemic, things have been so difficult for the staff as well as the residents, not to mention their relatives, but great care has been given to keep them safe at all times, and the testing is great. Good that they have received both vaccinations.

My mom being in Marling Court from last year and she has improved a lot during this time.
I like the transparency of the home and how they kept us informed about what is happening in the home.
Home manager personally called me to reassure about this Covid situation, my mom’s condition and encourage
me to use the video calls to keep contact with my mom which really makes mom happy.
I look forward to seeing her from next week and I have given all the information about what should I follow during the visit.
Thank you all for your hard work and you all are heroes.

My Aunt is at Marling Court and I only can praise the manager and team for what they do.
Very nice homely place and not like a hospital or hotel.
My aunt is happy there.
Highly recommend Marling Court.

I visited my grandmother regularly. Staff were always welcoming and friendly, no matter what time you visited. Nan was always treated with respect, even when she was difficult.
I have nothing but praise for the care Nan received. When Nan passed away, staff helped us to come to terms with our loss.
They were more like family than staff.

Marling Court is over 30 years old and has become very 'tired' in both, it's appearance, actual building and staff. In September a new manager was appointed who, in my opinion, is trying very hard to bring new life to the home. As has always been the case, she is struggling to recruit staff which seems
to be ongoing. After meeting with the manager, deputy and admin manager, my faith has been restored that the home will, given time and effort, be a pleasant and enjoyable place to live for our aged (awkward) loved ones.

The care home is very relaxed and comfortable, in fact homely. My wife has settled down very well in the 4 weeks she has been there and is well looked after.
The staff are very attentive to my wife's needs.
The location of the home is very good and gives easy (escorted) wheelchairs access to local
parkland, shops and cafes.
The internal garden spaces are attractive and well maintained. My family and I are very pleased and happy with the care and attention my wife has been receiving.

Marling Court is a friendly, welcoming and homely place, where my mum is well looked after. All carers know all the residents and their needs. The new activity coordinators are keen to involve residents and are putting on events for them, families and friends. Mum's room is always clean and tidy.

My mother has been a resident in the dementia wing for nearly 8 months. Whilst she has declined markedly in this time, (in no way due to the care she is receiving), I have nothing but praise for the way she is being managed. She has seen the doctor more times in the last 8 months that she ever did
before and her worsening condition has been referred (by the staff at Marling Court) to the Mental Health authorities. The atmosphere is always calm and friendly on the wing and the staff are always very attentive.
I have no hesitation in recommending Marling Court as a care home for elderly people suffering from dementia.

Overall standards are excellent.

I know it is not always possible but my mother likes to have a consistent set of carers.

Activities are simple but suit my mother perfectly.

Above all, mother feels secure at Marling Court in the knowledge that there is always someone there to reassure her

and to help her know what to do.

Huge thanks are owed to all the staff.

Marling Court feels homely - in the furnishing and decor of rooms, including the communal hall. It is always clean and the bedrooms spacious compared to some care homes.
Staff are very welcoming and friendly and all seem to enjoy their work which means they have good relationships with residents (one
or two don't have quite the skills on that score).
Good food, the manager is great, as is the activity coordinator. The handyman is always busy with maintenance jobs - so everything works.
Two nice gardens, position is great, community feel with a family centre next door, a supermarket and a pub and chemist all on the square.

My mother has significant problems with dementia and hearing. The nine-person wings at Marling Court and the individual care she receives during the day, suit her needs perfectly. We like the continuity (for the most part) of staff and the willingness of kitchen staff to meet residents' tastes. All
the staff should be thanked profusely for their patience and care.

The understanding of the carers for each of their subjects and their unending patience is remarkable. They understand the foibles tricks and responses of their charges. All of the staff know what is going on which is nice if you happen to ring. The food is good and they treat their patients to little
treats rather on the same principle as children without the patient realising. With the number of staff it is a little difficult to keep all occupied or go on outings. In normal life, this would not always be possible either. The patients in their little groups seem to be fairly happy with their lot.

My mum has been a resident for 18 months now. At home, she was a little old lady lonely, confused and in need of constant care. We wanted a home that was like a home, nothing to clinical or hotel like. At Marling Court we found just that. Mum has not looked happier or healthier in a very long time.
Well fed and entertained/occupied. There is always someone around so she is never lonely and all her records are available for us to look at.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.386)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.386) out of 10 for Marling Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.486 for Marling Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 111 Ratings = 4.486
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Marling Court Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
