Parkview care home, located in the busy shopping area of Bexleyheath in the London area, provides a wealth of support services for people living with dementia, with the aim of not just providing care and comfort, but also a new, positive and more engaging stage in their lives. The team of qualified and attentive staff provide 24-hour specialist person-centred dementia care.

Additional to the home is a 20 place day centre where social activities and community contact are of paramount importance.

At the heart of Parkview is its Philosophy of Care, The Eden alternative, where social interaction and engagement are encouraged and boredom is eradicated by addressing the three plagues of loneliness, helplessness and boredom within the home.

My dad has been at Parkview since 2020 the care is really good always informs me if there is anything wrong with Dad.
The staff always have time to talk to me and above all they look after Dad really well he needs are always taken care of.

Mother was admitted to Bexleyheath Care Home in 2018. Mum had her own room which was pleasant. As a suggestion, a separate to room to the TV room to keep the enjoyment of the room segregated for those residents to enjoy.

Mum arrived at Parkview in December 2016, for a long weekend respite. She felt comfortable from the moment she arrived, and decided to stay. Mum loves the company and activities and organised entertainment, if she wants a quiet moment she can spend time in her very comfortable room with all her own
things around her.
The staff are very caring, attentive and very professional. Mum loves the good quality food which is freshly prepared and suits her tastes. She enjoys having her hair done at the hairdresser, and her daily exercise of walking the corridors, then taking a rest in the lounge finding someone to talk to. The home is very clean and bright and provides a lovely safe place for Mum.
It is wonderful having peace of mind, knowing that she is so well looked after and happy.

Parkview is now Dad's home. He is very comfortable, has been welcomed with open, caring arms, and we, as his family, know that all his needs are being attended to. My husband moved here in 2019 after trying out several other care homes for respite over the two previous years. We chose Parkview mainly because it has a secure courtyard garden and two main exit doors operated by a key code or by reception for security. At the beginning, my husband was very active
and needed to be constantly moving around. Over the 3 years, he enjoyed the daily activities, especially the music entertainment. There will always be criticism of anywhere but in the main, the care was great, the staff lovely. My husband died at Parkview in October and again, the love and respect I received was appreciated. Thank you Parkview. I will miss you!

My sister has recently moved into Parkview home after leaving her previous residential home, where she had lived for more than 25 years. All the staff have been very helpful, kind and accommodating towards her. She has also made a nice friend. As a family, we couldn't be more happier for her that she

Sad to put Mum into care but her condition made is a necessity. The home has been very accommodating meeting all her needs. Her room is nice, clean and of a good size. she has been kept clean. Her physical being has been improved no end and she seems well. Have no complaints and am grateful that people
are prepared to care for their elderly in their later years with compassion.

I am not satisfied with the standard of the cooking or the quality of the food my mum is given. The other day she had what I think was macaroni cheese that was so watery and sloppy it was virtually inedible. She had a load of coleslaw on her plate that I could smell before I actually saw it - vile.
She hates salad, coleslaw, and sandwiches yet that is what she is given to eat. I have made her preferences clear yet this information has been ignored. I now cook food and buy food she likes and take it in to her so that she has decent food. They are incapable of washing her clothes properly. I try to avoid buying anything white or cream because it always comes out of the wash looking utterly filthy. I've found faecal stains on her underwear and nightdresses. I've been told they wash clothes of all colours together. Why? There are over 60 residents so why not wash whites separately? My mum was always meticulous about her appearance - clean, well-laundered clothes were important to her.

The care home is clean and well kept. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Management always has time to talk about Mum. Drinks always offered. Meals are OK but very bland and boring. Residents do spend a lot of time doing "nothing", so get very bored if they have the ability to realise
this. Garden is lovely and well kept. Pets add some fun.

On the whole Parkview staff are good, some of them could do with a bit more training with Dementia residents. The entertainment staff are good at interacting with residents but I feel the care staff could interact better. I know they are busy but suggest the management ask for volunteers to spend an
hour or so speaking to the residents on a one to one basis so they can talk to someone about the old times they remember as my father often says he is bored or lonely and think by talking to someone else will occupy him. I am quite satisfied my father is being cared for and find the staff and management approachable if there is a problem.

The overall atmosphere of the home is pleasant and the staff are welcoming. You can visit anytime although meals times are best avoided. Tea is served at various times and guests are offered a cup (and even a biscuit!). The home is always very warm and is well maintained and clean. The rooms are of
a reasonable size and the residents can add their own touches by adding their own furniture, TV, pictures etc. They keep the residents amused by playing games, sing songs and visits from the church, if they want to join in, and are encouraged to do so. Doctors, optician and hairdresser (additional charge) also call in. On a few occasions there are visits out (afternoon tea/plays etc.).
In general, there is little to complain about apart from maybe the cost, but it's in line with similar establishments.

Dad has been used this care home for just under a year becoming a permanent resident after Christmas. We have been delighted with the standard of care he has received. He is happy and so we are happy.

My mother attended the day centre for a number of years. All the staff gave my mother the support she needed to line with her dementia. She enjoyed the freedom of getting out of her home to be with friends in a safe and secure environment. The staff also went above and beyond to check on my father to
make sure that he was coping.

For the second time in 5 weeks, I have had to fly over from Gibraltar for my mother in law's pre-assessment to have her cataracts removed. Thanks to the staff, I know now that there was no need for the hospital to ask for my consent under the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Unfortunately, I had already booked
my flights and came over last week purely because I wanted to see her. She was also hospitalised a few weeks ago due to a leg injury and staff kept me up to date and helped find out things as I was unable to go over at the time. One member of staff has updated me on absolutely everything to do with my mother in law albeit the need for clothes which she has shopped for and keeping me updated on her medical issues. Some may say this is part of her job but for me it's much more being so far away. She is dedicated and I can see from the rapport she has with the staff that everyone loves her. This member of staff has now become a family member of whom we are pleased to embrace.

Parkview is very clean my mother-in-law is well cared for by very helpful and friendly staff of all levels. Her room is always tidy and clean and my mother-in-law always looks well presented and clean. She enjoys her little trips out with care staff who always have her best interests at heart. I could
