My mother has been at Ryelands for two years now and is well cared for. I have nothing but praise for the dedication of the care staff and management who do an excellent job and treat my mother with dignity and respect. The staff are always friendly and make myself welcome and my two sons. They really do an excellent job and we are immensely grateful as a family. Christmas was lovely and all the events put on. Thank you.

Mum arrived in the middle of Covid which was a difficult time for everyone. After 3 years she is well looked after and content. The care offered is very good and all staff are kind. Her dementia has progressed but staff are able to manage her when she is anxious and when she is agitated and the physical care they offer is excellent. Activities are much improved after Covid and the music therapy sessions are enjoyable for all.

I felt welcome being shown around the home. I was impressed with what I saw. Ryelands is near to where I live, so it was nice that I could visit regularly. It is nice to see the staff are very caring to all.

My sister was well taken of all the time she resided in Ryelands. I visited her often and was always welcomed. She loved being in the garden in the summer especially when animals were brought in before Covid! She always had cats of her own. Thank you for caring for her.

Overall, pleased with the service and setup at Ryelands. My mother has been a resident for a year now and is happy with her room, the staff and the care and respect she is shown. Her needs are well cared for and the staff listen to her requests and act on them. All staff are friendly and accommodating and we were particularly grateful for the assistance given by the entertainment team in helping provide space for and help set up a room for Mum's 90th birthday.
Her room is clean and bright and the bathroom area is well-sized and laid out. Call buttons are available and are responded to promptly when activated.
The menu options seem varied and the catering staff listen to and acts on feedback given by the residents.

The entertainment team work hard to keep the residents occupied and involved, but I would like to see better use made of the minibus so that the more able residents could go on organised trips occasionally, if only to escape the confines of the home.

My mother has been a resident at Ryelands Care Home since January 2016. Seven years on, I am still very happy with the level of care she receives and she continues to be happy, healthy and well cared for. Over the years, I have built a good relationship with the staff at Ryelands, all of whom are friendly, hard working and committed to making sure that the residents needs are met. The management team is efficient and approachable and communicates regularly with the family of residents in their care. They make an effort to ensure that we are made aware of any changes within the home and that we are made to feel part of the wider Ryelands community.

Ryelands has been a really good home for my mother and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone considering residential care for their own elderly relative.

My mother was cared for by the team in Ryelands for eight years. She lived in Brooklands, the unit especially for residents with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Throughout this time the care from all the staff at Ryelands and Brooklands has been exceptional. All the staff, and by that I mean, the care staff, the Chaplain, Activities Co-ordinators, the Maintenance team, cleaners, laundry staff, kitchen staff and the management have all gone above and beyond. Everyone who works here makes a real effort to make the place feel like a loving family home and the staff really care about each of the residents and their families.

We would like to thank all the staff for their compassion and kindness towards our dear mum. The tenderness and sensitivity you all showed Mum during her time at Ryelands is something we will never forget. Watching Mum change as she worked through the stages of her illness was really difficult and the staff's knowledge, care and comfort helped us all navigate it.

The staff/carers at Brooklands (wing of Ryelands) have been completely dedicated to the care of my parents during this most difficult time of COVID-19. I can not thank them enough for the diligence and love they show my parents. Communication with the home has been good throughout and they, along with MHA headquarters have ensured they managed their PPE resources well with a commitment to the highest level of care they could give. I have felt reassured that my parents are safe and that staff are invested in their emotional wellbeing, maintaining activities and enrichment throughout. Thank you to the staff and carers.

This is a professionally run care home. My mother settled in well and has been well looked after. Before the Coronavirus pandemic, visiting was flexible and I was made to feel welcome. Visits are now possible again by appointment, but it is hoped that restrictions could be lifted soon. I am very grateful that my mother was in such a secure environment during the pandemic.

My mother has been resident since 2014, initially in the main Home before transferring to the dementia wing (Brooklands) in 2017. She has been very happy and settled, particularly in Brooklands, and we have always been very impressed and content with the level of care and support she has received. All staff are good and some are exceptional. The Home is always extremely clean, although some areas could now do with a lick of paint. We have always been very well informed about my mother’s progress through excellent day to day dialogue with the care staff and relatives have formed an ad hoc committee to provide feedback to management, which has also been constructive. We have been kept up to date with developments throughout the coronavirus pandemic and residents have been able to make good use of the garden facilities as they have emerged from lockdown. Fees have gone up quite a bit in recent years, but remain very competitive relative to other local high-quality homes.

Reply from Solomon-Paul Ekuase, Home Manager at Ryelands

Many thanks for your review and we would continue to try and improve communication with relatives with a view to partnership working. I will take on board the need for paint uplift as suggested.

The care that is provided to my mother is very well delivered. The staff are extremely considerate of the residents and look to ensure they are all comfortable. At present, with the Covid-19 restrictions, the activities are very limited but these will hopefully pick up shortly. One must also remember that the average age of the residents is the high 80s, with my mother in her mid-90s and therefore activities need to be suitable and engaging. The interior of the home is rather basic in some places and the chairs in the lounge area could do with a refresh. The garden area, while not extensive, is very pleasant and again large enough for the number and mobility of the residents. The personal room occupied by my mother is well appointed and certainly large enough, with a nice view over the gardens.

Reply from Solomon-Paul Ekuase, Home Manager at Ryelands

Many thanks for your review. I identify with the fact that social stimulation is restricted to our staff and activities co-ordinators, and we intend to have a complete refurbishment of Ryelands in the next two years and all the interior will be replaced, but in the interim, we will look at the interior and see what improvements we can make.

We visited many homes when we were looking for the right place for my aunt in a location she was familiar with. Ryelands stood out for the welcome, the quality of the room and value for money. It felt like an enormous responsibility for choosing this next step for our aunt when she could no longer live alone but two years on we definitely feel that we made the right choice in choosing the Ryelands. Any concerns have been quickly addressed but there have not been many, and from the initial welcome from the office staff to the care given by other staff, we have felt relaxed and assured that our aunt is receiving professional and loving care.

Covid has obviously been a concern however we feel that the situation has been managed as well as could be expected and difficult decisions have been taken when necessary.

My friend has been at Ryelands for five years and as her condition worsened she has now moved next door to another care home.
The care she has received is exceptional. The staff keep me informed all the time if she needs anything or anything has happened.
We have regular meetings with staff and other family and friend members.
There is an activities coordinator who works out an interesting and stimulating array of events residents can take part in if they want.
The rooms are well decorated. There is a varied menu with several choices. Her clothes are well looked after.
The security is well managed. There is always a cheerful friendly welcome whenever I visit. I have never come across any treatment, language or experience that has caused me any concern about Ryelands, the management or staff in general.
With the Christian ethos, I am so glad I chose Ryelands for the lady I have Power of Attorney for.

It's a lovely care home.

Everything I had heard about Ryelands was positive. When the time arose, I came to visit for my mother she had been living with us for 18 months, I was looking for something as much as home from home as possible.

As soon as I visited Ryelands, I liked it. The open plan design of the lounge/dining room and the conservatory is very attractive, as is the garden. Now a resident, my mother has a marvellous bedroom with a sink unit, worktop and room for a fridge so she can make tea and snacks, as well as being ensuite. There is also a cosy library area with comfy sofas that mum enjoys as she is a great reader and it's quiet and away from the TV. All staff are always very polite and cheerful. I am very happy to recommend Ryelands and actually have already done so. Thank you.

The cleanliness of the home struck me immediately. Many of the staff are kind and caring, but not all, there doesn't always appear to be sufficient staff to manage all the needs of the residents.

The food is reasonably good and is improving. Advertised activities do not always happen which can be disappointing for residents who look forward to them.

Thank you for your review. I am delighted that you have found our home very clean and staff kind and caring. Staffing is based on the needs of the residents.
