My involvement with Mallards Care Home goes back to five years. I have had the opportunity to meet the owners and staff. I have found the staff to be polite, caring, passionate and seem to enjoy their work. The lift breaks down occasionally which creates anxiety. The heating system needs to be investigated - Generally too hot in my brother's room.
I fill out this form with only positive feedback and high praise for the whole team at The Mallards, regarding my father's care. Starting with his pre-arrival and the communication and information gathering process in finding out who my Dad is and was. The effective use of this information when he arrived, to help him settle. This, in addition to treating him with respect, the utmost care and being gentle with him too. Talking to him throughout, explaining what is being done and why. Always going the extra mile by talking to Dad in foreign languages and having the male team matron talk to him too, as he is responsive to him. Treating him like a human being with compassion. There is so much to say - thank you so very, very much.
My father-in-law chose this care home, he is as happy as he can be (due to health issues) but most importantly he feels safe here and that is just so important to me. All of the staff here do their very best for the residents and they always seem to be getting on with everything in a very happy way. The visitor's rules set by the government are followed stringently and I am happy about that, I sleep well knowing that he is being well cared for there.
Lovely atmosphere, very welcoming and very caring staff. Couldn’t be happier with the mallards overall. Will highly recommend it to anyone. Keep up the great work. We also love the fact that we can visit in the garden.
My father went to the home in early 2021, after receiving his first Covid jab. As it was in lockdown, we could not inspect the room etc but my friend's mother had been a resident and her family had been very happy with the care provided and strongly recommended it. The staff are all so friendly and my father is very content. As his daughters, we have been made to feel very welcome and involved.
The food always looks nicely presented and varied.
I would not hesitate to recommend The Mallards.
The only negative comment is the fact it’s an old building and needs a bit of an update.
In my opinion, the CQC report does not reflect my experience with The Mallards.
The home was well cared for and there were no odours.
A lot of activities going on and my husband (her brother in law) was made very welcome.
My sister is a resident at The Mallards, Bedford. There she has been given exceptional care and although suffering Alzheimer's Dementia has shown improvement. Despite her condition, her strong personality is still very capable of registering disapproval. It is very clear from her affectionate attitude to staff that she is content, happy and comfortable in this first-class home. Thank you Mallards.
My Dad spent his last six years at The Mallards and my Mum is now in her third year there. I cannot fault the management and care given to both of my parents. The home was a little tired but has recently had a revamp, which has brightened the home no end. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to others.
There is a sense of calm and community.
We have been very satisfied with both our relative and also other residents here. Despite some dementia, everyone seemed to receive a hug from the staff. In return, the smiles received by staff was a delight to see. My cousin has been here for over 3 years. Some falls have occurred when a back was turned but I do not consider it was a lack of safety issues. A lucky find that she was here. For someone in their 90's who deserved this dignity.
A caring and sensitive care home, that has tried to maintain mum's dignity at all times over the last 2 years. Further more the manager's proactive and hardworking attitude to making the facility a home for the residents is to be applauded. This summer there has been a garden party, fete and beach party. Mum has also taken part in arts and crafts, bingo and other activities to. I would certainly recommend the mallards
The home is well maintained and very clean and welcoming.
My father enjoys the variety of meals offered and the staff ensure that he has some of the traditional food/treats I bring him from time to time.
The Mallards runs numerous activities which my father enjoys participating in and the last Christmas party was excellent, entertaining and enjoyable for the whole family.
I am very happy with my father's care and would highly recommend the Mallards to others without hesitation.
My mother has been a resident for over two years and during this time she has been very well looked after and cared for with great dignity. The staff are all exceptional in their care, interest and unfailing enthusiasm in looking after the residents. Visitors are welcomed and always looked after well with a welcoming cup of tea, often on a tray with biscuits to share with the resident. My mother is happy there too and enjoys all the carte and attention she gets. Finally, the food is very good and exactly what the older residents like and are familiar with.
As my mother and mother-in-law were both previously in care homes what a delight that my cousin was admitted to The Mallards almost two years ago. Now well in her 90's and now suffering some dementia it is so lovely to find her always being spoken to by nearly every member of staff. The visiting nurses also seem to feel this friendship, with humanity with staff and residents, such a pleasant experience and no anxiety for her wellbeing. A visit (often) is always a pleasure.
I have been visiting my friend since she has been in The Mallards. I have always been very impressed by how she is being looked after. All the staff are so caring and sensitive to all the residents. A good description is that it is like a family. My friend is aware of all of this and engages with them in the same way. The Mallards is always warm and very clean and she enjoys the food and as she was a great cook herself, this is a big compliment. I go to may care homes and I have to say that The Mallards is the very best.
My mother had to move to a care home following a serious fall at home in July. We chose The Mallards as it was recommended by a variety of health professionals. Everyone had mentioned how caring and friendly all the staff were. We are very satisfied with our choice. Mum is self-funding so it was important to have value for money as well. She has settled in well and looks forward to the daily activities the home organises. Well done to the manager and her staff!
