Cleeve Lodge is an extended Victorian house, offering two floors of accommodation for elderly residents in need of 24-hour care.

The home is situated in the picturesque and tranquil village of Goring on Thames, complete with stunning views of the Streatley Hills.

There is easy access to and from the M4 and good transport and rail links to surrounding towns. Local amenities are a short walk from the home and include shops, cafes, pubs, a library and doctor’s surgery.

The aim is to care for residents in a safe, happy, relaxed and homely environment. Cleeve Lodge provides holistic and individualised care for 22 residents over the age of 65. The home also accepts people for respite care when beds become available.

Cleeve Lodge is a close-knit team focused on providing individual care for residents. Moreover, staff treat residents with dignity, respect and recognise both individual needs and a right to privacy, choice and fulfilment. Staff aim to give relatives and friends peace of mind knowing that loved ones are safe and cared for.

The home's own cook prepares home-cooked and tasty meals on a daily basis. There is a varied menu on offer with recipes designed to meet all dietary requirements. The home takes pride in sourcing fresh produce from local suppliers.

Cleeve Lodge encourages social interaction and tries to provide residents with a varied entertainment programme. A typical week of activities includes music, exercise, crosswords, group discussions, reminiscence and a visiting poet. Elsewhere two popular entertainers regularly frequent the home, providing welcomed familiarity. The home also has a monthly visit from therapy dogs.

We moved Mum into Cleeve Lodge in April of this year - a few days before her arrival she abruptly lost any mobility. The team have been able to accommodate this as well as the evolving care needs that she now has.
Her room is lovely, bright and sunny - and this is matched by the amazing carers - they're
all bright and sunny too!
The place has a wonderful atmosphere and we feel so assured that she is being well cared for. Nothing is ever too much trouble and we are always made to feel so welcome at any time of the day that we visit. We love the open-door policy.
Mum recently had visitors from overseas and the team made such an effort - a little tea party in the conservatory.
We were all very anxious about this move for Mum and we needn't have worried, it's home from home.

From the moment we first went into Cleeve Lodge we knew that it was the right care home for Mum.
Mum absolutely loved it there, great food and facilities.
All the staff are amazing, caring, and just so lovely.
Mum passed away last week but we have lovely memories of her time at Cleeve Lodge.

couldn't have asked for more.

The facilities, staff and care that Cleeve Lodge offer is fantastic. The management and staff are incredibly warm and knowledgeable, they work tirelessly to ensure the standard of care and happy residents.
Having looked at some other places for my father this place really stood out. I’d have no hesitation
in recommending Cleeve Lodge and their fabulous team.

My mum moved into Cleeve Lodge in January of this year as she was falling at home and unsafe to live on her own anymore. Initially, it was for "respite care" but we came to quickly realize she would need to stay there indefinitely. It has been a hard few months and hard decisions to be made but the
staff at Cleeve Lodge have made it so much easier for me (as an only child with two small children and one more imminent!). Mum is well looked after, the staff are caring, fun, and compassionate including management, domestic staff, and the chef. I feel Mum is safe and I can relax more knowing she's being well looked after. Mum seems settled and is eating so well! (The food is lovely). I feel so lucky that Cleeve Lodge had a room available whilst Mum was in hospital as couldn't imagine her anywhere else now. Thank you for looking after her and my children and I!

My mother entered Cleeve Lodge in January after a spell in hospital, when it became obvious that she could not remain at home. She was well cared for and had a pleasant room with a lovely view. Although Mum was deteriorating during her stay, she was kept involved with the general goings-on, and visitors,
including the dogs, were warmly welcomed.
Mum died at the home last Saturday, and the staff could not have been more caring to both her, and me. When my father died ten years ago I was full of regrets at how things were handled by the two hospitals concerned, and that I could do nothing to comfort him in his last hours. With mum, I was there to the end, and all was peaceful and quiet. No regrets this time.

My mother is very well cared for by caring professionals who always do their best despite the pressures.
The management is clearly excellent. The rooms are pleasant and the atmosphere is homely and warm.
There are arranged events frequently and they are very good. Cleeve Lodge deserves its reputation

My mother went into Cleeve Lodge from the hospital where she had deteriorated mentally to an appalling state. I was amazed that within a few days, the staff had worked a miracle and returned her to the happy, mobile, and healthy person she had been.
The “can do” caring attitude of the staff and their
avowed goal of providing a fulfilling life for their residents stood out when we were selecting a care home and this had been proven immediately.
Mum and our family then had a very pleasant almost two years with her as a resident at Cleeve Lodge and we felt like we were all friends. Obviously, Covid gave problems with visiting and activities but we felt the management had exactly the right approach, safe and yet recognising the resident's and families' needs. We had complete confidence in the management and loved the “team” spirit – even the owner could be found cleaning when needed!
Mum passed away in Jan 2023 at 91 It makes us rest easy to know that she died being loved and cared for here.

My mother was in another care home, she fell and broke her hip and they wouldn't have her back because she was less mobile. I wish I had discovered Cleeve Lodge Care Home first! It is a very friendly home with lovely residents and first-class staff. The staff are very friendly, kind, caring and attentive.
You can see that there is a fondness and bond between them and their residents. The food is excellent and comparable with a good-class restaurant! If I needed it I would book myself in tomorrow. 10 out of 10!

Of the many care homes we visited when researching Cleeve Lodge stood out, the relaxed, friendly, caring ambience was apparent from our first visit. Our friend was a resident for almost six years and his wife for four years. They were both extremely well looked after and were very happy there.
We
have always been impressed with the kindness, empathy, patience and understanding displayed in looking after them. We were particularly impressed with how whenever we visited (often unannounced) the residents were occupied in one form or another. Considerable efforts were made to involve the residents in everything from games, singing, visits by animals, external outings, etc.
We also noticed the quality and variety of the food, and the efforts made to cater for different tastes.
The effort made to respect and treat residents as individuals were apparent more than in any other similar establishment.
We have visited many care homes over the years and Cleeve Lodge is the best.

My Dad moved into Cleeve Lodge in 2018 and was joined by my Mum in 2021.
Sadly, they both passed away in 2022 but I take great comfort that they received the very best care from the best care home in the county.
Cleeve Lodge cares not only for its residents but also the family unit as a whole and
you can't help but become part of the "Cleeve Lodge Family".
I can't thank them enough for the high level of care they provided for Mum and Dad as well as countless refreshments to give me the strength to get me through the hardest of times.
I have made many friends for life and it will be a place I will be glad to return to even just to help out with a tricky jigsaw puzzle!

This is the care home I would like to be living in if I was unable to look after myself. The staff go above and beyond expectations, offering support of the highest standards to residents and their families. Nothing is too much trouble and they communicate with the residents' families as needed and
on a regular basis. The home itself is in an excellent location with wonderful views of a well-kept garden and the surrounding countryside. The food is also second to none.

From my initial phone call to the day my mother went into Cleeve Lodge Care Home, I have been so impressed with the level of care, patience and empathy.

My mother came to live at Cleeve Lodge Ltd Care Home in April 2021 after her husband died. I could not fault the care received from this care home. The owner is very hands-on in this small, personal home and all the staff have been friendly and caring. No corporate show or advertising, just good care
for the residents in a very difficult period of Covid.

We are so lucky that our mum lives in Cleeve Lodge. The staff are amazing and always ready to go the extra mile. The atmosphere is always a happy one and there are lots of activities to stimulate and interest the residents. Food is home made and not repetitive. Facilities are excellent with a well kept
garden, enough external seating for all and a separate hair and nail salon. During the Covid crisis the staff have been amazing and a secure Covid visiting suite was put in place. As relatives, we are always consulted and informed of any changes/developments. We couldn't have found a better place for our mum.

I moved my husband from another home and the difference is remarkable. Great care is taken to meet his physical and emotional needs. Carers talk to him as an individual and have time for him. They are kind and considerate. The food is first class and the cook even came and talked to him to find out
his likes and dislikes. He is able to sit in the garden weather permitting, which is life-enhancing for him. Excellent physiotherapy is offered weekly. Communication with me via email update and personally is helpful and reassuring.

Every effort possible was made to make my mother feel welcome. Extra staff were made available to spend time with her on arrival to help her settle in. The staff were all respectful and caring. It was not possible to assess the usual activities as restrictions were in place due to the pandemic.

Emma O’Connor is the Registered Manager at Cleeve Lodge and leads the home with warmth, professionalism, and a strong commitment to excellence in care.


With extensive experience in residential and dementia care, Emma is passionate about ensuring every resident receives care that is person-centred, respectful, and responsive to their changing needs. She places great importance on building trusting relationships — not only with residents, but also with families and staff — creating a supportive and open environment for everyone.


Emma is highly visible within the home and believes in leading by example. She works closely with her team to maintain high standards, encourage ongoing training and development, and foster a positive, caring culture where staff feel valued and supported.
