My close friend has been living at Cleeve lodge for 6 months, I have visited her several times during this period, I have been made to feel welcome and offered to stay and have lunch with her which was so kind and meant so much to us as this was something we used to do together.
The staff are amazing,
the activities provided over the Christmas period were meaningful and engaging.
The family atmosphere that has been created is so fantastic I just don't want to leave!!

Mum has been at Cleeve Lodge for over 4 years. Mum has dementia and at times exhibits behaviour that others find challenging.
I cannot find words that fully describe the excellence of the care that Mum receives.
Kind.
Compassionate.
Person centred.
Flexible.
Supportive to me personally.
I find
the staff friendly and I am always greeted with genuine warmth (& a lovely cuppa with homemade cake if I arrive around 3!)
Mum's dementia journey hasn't been straight forward. Mum's stay has been peppered with a few fractures with long periods in plaster. Staff at Cleeve Lodge were so supportive in getting Mum out of hospital quickly so as to reduce Mum's confusion and trauma.
Communication with me is open, clear and kind.
Mum loves her food. Food is homemade and staff are flexible- if Mum wants another breakfast, that is fine.
There are plenty of social events and activities. The local community and families are encouraged to participate.
Overall- outstanding.
Reply from Sally, Owner at Cleeve Lodge LtdThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. We are truly humbled by your kind words and so pleased that you feel your mum continues to receive the care, understanding and compassion she deserves.
Supporting residents living with dementia - particularly when their journey is complex - is something our team approach with patience, flexibility and genuine care, and it means a great deal to know this has made a positive difference for both your mum and you.
We're especially glad you feel welcomed and supported as a family member, and that communication, food, activities and community involvement have all helped make Cleeve Lodge feel like home.
Thank you for your trust over the past four years. Your feedback means the world to our team and reinforces why they do what they do every day.

Cleeve Lodge is an example of how all care homes should be. When my mother arrived there, she was quite ill and also suffering from an element of depression. Her improvement over the months has been dramatic. Whilst some of this can be accounted for by medication, a large part is clearly the way she
is treated at the Lodge. From my observations, and I have been there for many hours, the staff are attentive, considerate and patient. I have seen no signs of frustration in the staff, only kindness. This is very impressive. Beyond this, residents are encouraged to take part in a variety of activities, and my mother has been happily getting involved in things should would never have tried by herself at home. She is also encouraged to attend external events in the village, safely accompanied by a staff member or family/friend. Visitors are made very welcome at any time and I feel 'at home' there. From personal experience, I can say that lunch (the main meal of the day) is particularly good.

Mum has been in cleeve lodge since the beginning of the year, and I can't fault her care there, the staff are kind and compassionate and all do an amazing job. I'm regularly kept informed of events going on and although mum doesn't like to join in much, there is always something going on, from garden
parties to craft making. I can finally relax knowing that she is being well taken care of.

It is quite difficult to put into words just how wonderful this place is and how outstanding the care from the staff is.
My MIL has dementia and sadly lost her husband in March and her quality of life seemed to turn to more quantity of life before we loved her to Cleeve Lodge.
Now she enjoys the things
that she always did as much as she can from all of the activities provided and trips to the village, life is a new normal for her.
She has regained her dignity and the care from staff seems as though they treat each resident as their own family member. We don't live too close but knew it was the right place for her and although we cant visit as often as we would like to, the staff keep us so involved that we also feel as loved as her.
The staff are seriously wonderful and genuinely want to be doing the job that they are doing. It seems it is a privilege to them to aid my MIL and the residents to live out their golden years and dignified and as enriched as they deserve to and should!

Were also pleased to hear that the variety of activities and regular communication has helped you feel informed and at ease, even if your mum prefers quieter moments.
Thank you for trusting us with your mums care. It is a privilege to support her, and were delighted that you can relax knowing she is safe, comfortable, and well cared for.

I started to volunteer at Cleeve Lodge in the summer with the intention of helping with some gardening activities which would be limited to the Spring Summer months. This was well received but gardening activities reduce in the autumn. However the experience has been so joyful and appreciated that I
am continuing some craft sessions to add to the all ready varied activity calendar on offer to the residents. I have a core group of attendees and others who come some weeks not others. The staff are very welcoming to me and enthusiastic when supporting the residents to participate. They encourage each person to take part supporting them to be as independent as possible and helping where needed. They are infinitely kind and respectful to everyone and skilled when addressing any concerns the residents have.
The atmosphere of the home is warm and welcoming, residents are relaxed and staff are ever present making sure everyone is listened to and taken care of.
Reply from Sally, Owner at Cleeve Lodge LtdThank you so much for your truly kind and thoughtful review. We are incredibly grateful for the time, care and creativity you bring to Cleeve Lodge. What began as gardening support has grown into something really special, and the craft sessions you now run are thoroughly enjoyed and valued by our residents.
It is wonderful to hear how welcomed and supported you feel by our team, and how positively you view the kindness, respect and encouragement shown to each resident. Creating a warm, inclusive and supportive environment is at the heart of everything we do, and your words mean a great deal to us all.
We are very lucky to have you as part of our extended Cleeve Lodge family. Thank you for the joy and enrichment you continue to bring to our home.

We have been very lucky to find this amazing care home for my Aunt. We have experience of other care homes and I can honestly say that Cleeve Lodge is head and shoulders above any other care home we have known. The staff have always been excellent and made every effort to accommodate my Aunt's needs,
going above and beyond the normal. All the staff make this a special place. There are plenty of meaningful activities, not just the usual time killers but really sensible things that the residence enjoy.
I cannot praise Cleeve Lodge highly enough and we really appreciate how much they have helped my Aunt to be comfortable and happy. From management downwards the staff are very professional and take a real interest in the welfare of all the residence. The property is maintained and tidy and clean at all times even when we have visited unannounced the atmosphere is always good and welcoming.
Top marks without question. Thank you Cleeve Lodge for everything you do.

My mother came to Cleeve Lodge after quite a challenging period for her. The kindness and attention shown to her by all the staff has been exceptional. As a result, she has settled very quickly and is very happy there. The home provides a thoughful range of activities and we also appreciate the flexibility
that the home has shown to faciltate my mother continuing to participate, where possible, in activities she was involved with previously in the local community. It is worth highlighting the positivity and cheerfulness of the staff and how welcoming the home is to visitors, who can pop in freely, which means that Cleeve Lodge really does feel like a home rather than an institution. We are extremely grateful to the management and staff for all their efforts.

My mother has been at Cleeve Lodge for a couple of months now. I knew straight away that this was the right care home for mum, as it felt much more personal with a true family vibe. I was impressed by the planned daily activities, varied menu and other services offered which were all included in the
cost (no hidden charges or surprises). The team at Cleeve Lodge have and continue to work closely with mum and myself to support her with her transition. The care the team provide mum is brilliant and they have had to think outside the box a little to meet some rather complex needs, they have been professional and caring through the whole process. Cleeve Lodge truly lives up to its outstanding rating and I would certainly. A big thank you to the Cleeve Lodge family :)

My Mother went as a resident of Cleeve Lodge, Goring on Thames, 7 weeks prior to writing. The standard of care by all the staff and the leadership is outstanding. The dignity, respect shown at all times has been excellent and treating my Mother as an individual and wanting to learn her individual
likes and dislikes has been so much appreciated. The activities are both stimulating and aid wellness, both physical and benefiting mental health. These range from flower arranging to visits to the village café and pub, dog petting and garden parties and the list goes on in just 7 weeks. Everyday there's something and residents can join or not, or dip in and out. Nothing is forced. I have been invited to join my Mother and the other residents for lunch, tea and supper and the quality of the food is excellent and well thought out and served with care and assistance when required.
What has impressed me most is the communication from the whole team / management / leadership of Cleeve Lodge

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We moved Mum into the care home in Early February after a short stay in hospital, she took a week or so to adapt to her new life in the home, as being a very independent person living on her own.
She had a lovely little room that had been freshly decorated, where she put up her personal possessions,
making it a home.
The care that was shown to Mum was incredible, it wasn't just care, the staff enjoy what they do and that can be seen on all there smiling faces.
Ours and Mum's friends visits we were made to feel so welcome, with cups of tea, lunch and special cake.
Unfortunately, Mum had a fall early March and after coming back from hospital she was requiring a lot more care, which again was carried out with a smile.
Mum finally passed on 20th of May 2025, but again, the Care, Dignity, Compassion and Time that was given to us was fantastic.
I'd just like to say a massive thank you to the manager and the staff.
It's no wonder that this care home has just been awarded a Outstanding Certificate

It was truly a pleasure and a privilege to care for your mother during her time with us.We understand how much of an adjustment it can be to move into a care home, especially for someone as independent as your mum, and we're so pleased to hear that she was able to make her room feel like home and that you and her friends felt welcomed whenever you visited.Your comments about the care, dignity, and compassion shown by our team - particularly during the more difficult times - mean the world to us. From the first moment of entering Cleeve Lodge we were aware of a warm and caring atmosphere. The property itself is very clean and attractively decorated. More than that, the staff are all absolutely amazing. Kind and attentive to the people in their care, and they always make visitors feel very
welcome.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.930)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.930) out of 10 for Cleeve Lodge Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.930 for Cleeve Lodge Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (278 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 298 Ratings = 4.93
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cleeve Lodge Ltd is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
