I have been in care for 2 weeks. During this time the carers have been caring and helpful. My room is light and comfortable, in my case the ensuite is a blessing. COVID has restricted movement and interaction, but the staff have remained attentive and always cheerful even when tired.

The staff are so lovely at Murdoch House. Mum has been here for 4 years now and they all go over and above their call to help make her comfortable. I can’t thank them enough. They are all fantastic. A special shout out to one member of staff, in particular, who is an angel in disguise.

Having had to relocate my mother, who is 99, I was worried about how she would adapt to the move. I need not have worried as everyone, from the manager and the rest of the staff, have been brilliant in making her feel at home and caring for her every need, including medical attention. They have shown so much compassion, empathy and love to her and keeping in touch with us, especially with the COVID situation, on how she was coping with the changes. I think if ever I was in need of care in the future I could do not better than moving to Murdoch House. My mum stayed at Murdoch House for several weeks following a stay in hospital. I was very impressed with the standard of care Mum received and the staff kept in regular touch with me to keep me updated on Mum's progress.

My mum has been in the care home for nearly two years, and during all of that time, I cannot fault the staff for their dedicated and wonderful care they have given to mum. They have always been extremely welcoming to me, informative, friendly (but professional) and approachable. A core group of staff have been consistent during the time mum has been with them - this has helped mum settle, build lovely relationships with them and feel happy - feels like a little 'family' around her.

My Dad stayed at Murdoch House for the last 7 weeks of his life. He was made very comfortable and looked after very well. It was no trouble when he wasn't eating due to his cancer. They offered him whatever he fancied eating. He had a lovely room that had doors that opened into the garden.

Patrick has been in the care sector for over 20 years. He loves seeing the bond between the residents and the team, and all of the fun that they have.
He began her career in care as a cook. He went on to become a carer and gain her NVQ qualifications. He got her first position in management in 2014. She is very proud of receiving a ‘Good’ CQC rating in the last two homes that she has managed.
Words of encouragement for someone looking for the right care home would be: “Look for somewhere that feels like an extended home. Look out for staff who are happy in their work.”
