My Auntie is well looked after by all the staff. She is always clean and tidy and I can't thank the staff enough for looking after her so well. She loves the food and enjoys it, especially the desert- she does love her cakes. Keep up the good work Boars Tye staff.

Mum entered Boars Tye Residential Home because we (her children) are unable to care for her as she needs. Since becoming a resident Mum has been treated with punctilious care and respect. More than that it is clear that she is treated with love and affection. Our mother is not easy at times but she
is always made to feel she is important to the talented and skilled carers, many of whom have been working at Boats Tye for 15+ years.
The home is always clean, the food is excellent and exactly right for the residents. The rooms are homely and create the atmosphere that the residents are part of a home, not just a facility. They're warm and inviting, yet have all the right equipment necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.
We cannot visit our mother often because we all live overseas, but when we go, often for periods up to a month or more, we can see that our concerns and worries for our mother are a major priority. Thank you, Boars Tye, we are truly grateful.

My mother has been cared for with compassion and dignity. The staff are all very caring and patient. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is excellent, rooms are very pleasant with modern beds, pressure mats, alarm systems etc. Visitors are made welcome, the staff and management go the extra mile to help
whenever they can.

Mum has been in Boars Tye for two years. Outstanding, excellent care. Nothing is too much trouble. Open and ready to listen. You can visit at anytime without notice. The staff really care and are always interacting with the residents. Plenty of entertainment and activities. Food again excellent, plenty
of choice. The home is bright, clean, cosy and above all a very safe and secure environment. We are informed at once if there are any problems. Look no further if you need a full time care home or respite care.

Our Mum has been for some time in poor health after her recent fall which put her in hospital for 8 weeks she was unable to settle back at home. Although she was having careers 4 times a day, she didn't want to be on her own at night. She wanted to go into residential care.
We were given a choice
of three homes in the area, luckily we have chosen a gem of a home in Boars Tye Residential Home, they have been so welcoming, kind and very accommodating. Mum is very happy there she wishes that had gone there a long time ago.
The food is great we had a lovely lamb roast with Mum on Mothers Day it was very nice, Mum loves her food and seems to enjoy what she has been offered. The room is always nice and clean and tidy when we go up there. We can't really fault anything.
Thank you Boars Tye for everything you do.

On my visits to Boars Tye, the staff are always very busy but always very attentive to the residents and visitors. The home has a nice homely atmosphere. Staff stop to talk to residents and spend time with them. Nothing seems to be too much. Regular tea and biscuits and fruit brought around. Very clean
and constantly being cleaned. Overall a very nice home. The residents themselves often comment how well they are looked after which speaks volumes.

It was with dread that I realised in 2015 that my husband was going to require full-time care, as I could no longer manage at home. I started my search and was struggling to find a home that I considered suitable and was of the standard I required for him. In many homes that I viewed as soon as I entered,
I knew it was unsuitable but with Boars Tye, I immediately felt like I was entering a real home. I love the way the staff interact with all residents and of course my husband and most importantly he is treated with respect and dignity. It is bad enough when you have to place a loved one into care, but I do not have to worry that he will be merely be a job as the staff are always ready to have a laugh and joke with him and join in with his music! My husband still being treated as a person is the most important thing to me, but Boars Tye provide that and much more. In addition, the support they have given me has been wonderful.

After spending a month at Boars Tye for respite, my Mum continues to tell me how well she was looked after. After my first visit to this establishment, I knew I would be happy to leave Mum in their capable hands. The atmosphere and friendliness throughout was a great comfort to me in an uncertain
situation. Nothing is too much trouble to the staff, most of which have worked there for several years. This in itself speaks volumes. During her stay, Mum became unwell. This was treated with professionalism and compassion. I'm glad to say Mum is now fully recovered and often talks about her time spent with 'those lovely people'.

I found my brother looking very comfortable and well. He was happy and amused by an illusion of children running about the home, but quickly responded to my presence. My only adverse comment would be that there was a "strange " smell in the corner where he was. This was not unpleasant, but I couldn't
identify it. Thank you for looking after him so well.

My mother has been resident at Boars Tye for more than 2 years and is very happy there. When she reached the stage of needing full-time care we looked at a number of homes and were particularly impressed by the friendly and caring atmosphere at Boars Tye. It's like a large extended family and we are
always warmly welcomed when we visit. The staff know all the residents really well, their likes and dislikes and nothing is too much trouble. Many of the staff have been there for a long time and even come in to help with events when they are not on duty. The food is good, freshly prepared with a choice of menu. There are regular activities, events and trips out, including a recent residents and families visit to Maldon where everyone had a good time.

We are so pleased that we found Boars Tye for Mum's care.

Boars Tye is a very caring home, with the accent on Home. Staff there have looked after my Mother for nearly 4 years and the care has been personalised to her needs.
Their patience is exemplary and she has been treated with care and consideration despite the challenges that her dementia presents.
Staff
often go the extra mile to help make the residents feel at home, encouraging hobbies and considering what they can do to enhance the quality of life of their
residents.
There are regular activities like the summer fete and Christmas celebrations as well as singing sessions and topical activities.

My mother came into this home over 10 years ago after a stroke she is now 100.
I'm sure she has survived so long, not just due to her own steely determination, but the care, dedication and friendliness of the staff.
Boars Tye is not only homely in presentation, but in the attitude of the staff who
often go far beyond the call of duty, especially when it comes to activities and fund raising events which are for the residents entertainment fund.
There is also a very low turnover of staff (some being here as long as my mother) which is reassuring not just for the residents but family as well.
I usually visit twice a week and am always greeted by friendly staff who keep me informed about all aspects of her care.

Having visited a number of care homes in the area I knew, after being in Boars Tye for only a few minutes, that this was where my husband, who has Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, would have good care. The first impressions are of a warm, homely and friendly place in which to live. Nothing appears to be
too much trouble for the staff and one is never made to feel unwelcome at any time. My husband has his favourite pictures and armchair in his room so it feels familiar. I can join him for meals if I so wish and am always offered refreshment when visiting. I am so pleased there was a room available when we needed it!

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.910) out of 10 for Boars Tye House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.910 for Boars Tye House is calculated as follows: ( (307 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 335 Ratings = 4.91
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Boars Tye House is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
