The level of care, compassion and attentiveness shown by every member of the team goes above and beyond expectations. It is felt by residents and family members that the staff are happy to serve and always with a smile. The activities they host are suited to resident needs and adapted where necessary
and family and friends are always kept updated and invited. We would recommend this care home for anyone looking for exceptional care in a safe, friendly and happy environment with a professional team which feel like an extended family.

Broome End care home is a really great home for my mother. There are lots of activities to take part in, something for everyone. Hairdresser, chiropodist, manicures. The staff are brilliant, caring and friendly and have a fab repore with the residents. I would most definitely recommend this to friends.

Mum was incredibly anxious for the first few days as she had just been discharged from a very poor hospital stay. The staff were really friendly, professional and accommodating and she settled really quickly considering how unwell she was when she arrived. All staff have been excellent but my greatest
praise is for the manager and team leader.
Reply from Haris Khan, Chief Executive Officer at Broome EndThank you so much for your kind words. Our managers and team leaders take so much pride in their work; it is good to see it recognised with such high praise.

My mother has been a resident at Broome End for just over three months. During that time, we as a family have been very pleased with the standard of care given to her. The staff and management are very kind, attentive, discreet, friendly and professional. Nothing is too much trouble. The home is situated
in a lovely setting with mature gardens, which create a very tranquil atmosphere.

The staff are wonderful and all deserve medals for their kindness and patience, sometimes in very difficult circumstances when dealing with residents on the dementia unit. The maintenance man works hard but the garden could be more colourful.
The activities are good but don't always suit dementia
residents. Talking about things from the past with memory prompts would be good + chair exercises.
Reply from Haris Khan, Chief Executive Officer at Broome EndThank you for your comments and helpful feedback. I will share this with our team. The garden is driven entirely by the weather, and you shall see in the next few weeks of spring, how lovely it is.

The care home is really amazing with all their residents, I cannot thank the team enough for everything they do for my nan and the support the team gives us, as a family. This must be one of the hardest jobs to look after people’s loved ones that have dementia as an illness.
Thank you so much Broome

Dad has been at Broome End for 18 months now and the care and support he has received has been excellent. He was quite independent at first but now needs more help and there is always a member of staff to assist him. I visit on a regular basis and it always feels like a family there. I am informed of
everything concerned with Dad, if he has seen a doctor or if he needs some more sweets! I am so pleased we chose Broome End and I know Dad feels the same.

My wife has been a resident in Broome End for just over twelve months. She suffers from late-stage dementia and is unable to walk or have a meaningful conversation. I visit on a regular basis and am always impressed by the excellent care she receives. Nothing is too much trouble. It is a difficult time
for me too, but the staff always have a chat and make me very welcome. I feel that my needs are also met, which gives me great comfort. If you are considering care for a loved one, you will not be disappointed here.

My parents-in-law were both residents together. After looking at a number of care homes I stopped my search after finding Broome End. As soon as I walked in I knew it was the one. I was not disappointed. I cannot praise the care home enough they go over and beyond. I have unfortunately had to place
my mother into care and needless to say, she is very happy at Broome End.

As a family, we are very fortunate to have found Broome End for Mum. She has been happy and settled there for some time. The care and compassion shown to Mum from the carers and all of the staff, from management to the cleaners, is amazing. We have been kept informed throughout these difficult times
and all effort has been made to keep us in as close contact as possible. When we have been unable to go and see Mum in person, we have had no concerns whatsoever about her welfare, which has been invaluable. Our thanks, love and gratitude are sent to all the staff.

My mother mainly suffers from dementia and has been a resident at Broome End 5 years. During that time staff have been extremely patient with her changing needs and personalities and have built up an excellent relationship with her. Broome End was chosen mainly for its family atmosphere and hasn't disappointed.
Cleanliness and meals are second to none and activities offered always interesting and innovative. Their relationship with local surgery is excellent and I've promptly informed any changes in medication. Management and staff have been excellent during lockdown maintaining contact with my mother keeping me informed of changes and despite logistics facilitating visits safely.

Our dear mum has been a resident at Broome End for over three and a half years. In that time she has been really happy and settled. She loves all the staff and management, they are so kind and patient. As a family, we have always loved visiting we feel like part of a big family. In the last year with
the pandemic, the staff have been amazing, keeping in touch with us by phone, video and lately with garden and home visits. Wonderful caring home.

My mum has been at Broome End since August 2017, and we know we chose the right home. There is such a lovely, homely atmosphere, and all the staff treat Mum with such kindness and dignity. Mym has advanced dementia, so doesn't really recognise us, but has a special bond with the carers and looked happy,
which is lovely to see. This last year with the pandemic has been hard, but we were informed of changes throughout. I cannot praise them highly enough!

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.306) out of 10 for Broome End is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.606 for Broome End is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 104 Ratings = 4.606
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Broome End is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
