Staff are efficient and pleasant and treat the residents well. The home is clean, laundry is well done, meals are good, with fruit and drinks always available. Services such as manicures, hairdressing, chiropody are arranged when required, and there is a pleasant atmosphere about the place. As a
visitor, even when arriving with no notice, you are made to feel welcome.

All the staff are caring and considerate and look after my mother very well. All the residents are treated with respect regardless of their age and condition. Management takes a genuine interest in the appearance and running of the home.

We are very pleased with the way Glendale staff have coped with dad's very complex issues.
He is always cleanly dressed and shaven.
The only is the staff turn over.

On the whole, it has been a good experience. The day to day staff are good and caring. Only criticism would be in dealings with fee increases. The staff are very kind and caring. When my mother first went there, there seemed to be lots of activities, with low-level activities. This has deteriorated
recently which we have been told is due to cutbacks.
Reply from Tina Ali, Provider at GlendaleThank you for your recent review. In response to your comments, I would like to say that we have not increased the fees for over a year now, and our rates are very competitive compared to other homes in the area. We have recently upgraded our communal areas in the existing house and a substantial extension has been built to the rear of the property. We have not compromised the standard of care we provide to our residents, but we have recently looked towards retraining and replacing some of our current staff so that we can resume our previous activity schedule.

From personal experience, I have found the home to be just that, a home from home.
Having said that, it would not be that without the best staff.
Staff need to be valued and looked after like the residents, otherwise, we would not have good homes to look after our loved ones.

Glendale Residential Care home is a small well run facility which has benefited from a recent addition of an extra six bedrooms. Staff are courteous and caring in what is a challenging situation. Our observations during the frequent visits we have made suggest that the care given to the residents is
very good.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.941)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.941) out of 10 for Glendale is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.991 for Glendale is calculated as follows: ( (211 Excellents x 5) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 212 Ratings = 4.991
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Glendale is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
