The Lodge provides short term respite care and longer term support for up to 36 Residents, including support for people living with a dementia.

There are 18 bedrooms on the ground floor and 18 on the first floor. Access to the 1st floor can be gained via a lift or via the main staircase. There are lounge, dining room and bathroom facilities on each floor.

The property is a large detached building with a car park and enclosed gardens to the rear. The Home is situated close to the beach of Walton-On-The-Naze and in easy access of local amenities.

We came for two weeks to see our mother. She has been in this care home for over two years. We have been unable to come and visit from Canada as covid-19 hit the world. At last, we are able to come and we are so happy with the management and all the staff. They are all kind and caring and Mum can have
a good laugh with everyone. They made us very welcome and helped in every way they could, including giving us a whellchair to use every day. We are so thankful Mum is at this home.

Although my father only ended up spending 3 months at the Lodge, I can speak highly enough of the staff and treatment he received there. Having been unable to look after himself at home, Dad was extremely well looked after and cared for. He made friends and instantly felt at home at The Lodge. Even
at the end of his life, the staff were fantastic towards my sister who was able to be with him, even in these testing COVID times, until the very end. The home is clean and well maintained, but it is the staff that make it.

My mother was extremely anti-care home and desperately did not want to leave her own home. However, unable to safely look after herself, care was the only option. At The Lodge, she has found a home from home. She has nothing but praise for the staff, loves the facilities and bed in her room, and enjoys
the food. She has made friends and enjoys more social contact now than when she lived on her own.
From my point of view - the staff are friendly, caring and lovely, and have kept us updated on all the Covid changes, restrictions and developments as well as my mother's health - communication has been excellent; the rooms are spotless, and so are Mum's clothes; Covid and normal security are reassuring. We had heard good reports about The Lodge before she went there, and they were all true. It's reassuring to know she is happy, safe and being well cared for.

My mum has been at The Lodge Walton since October 2020. The manager and care team have been really supportive towards my mum, who can be challenging at times due to Dementia.
She always looks happy when we go to visit.
She is also clean and well looked after.

Mum has settled well since her transfer in March 2021. She is content with the facilities, food and support she gets day and night. The atmosphere is relaxed, and I have also been pleased with the response and support I have received from management and staff. My only request at this time is the WiFi
signal is boosted to enable video calls in all parts of the site, including bedrooms, as this is an invaluable means of maintaining regular contact with loved ones.

My Aunt is very happy living at The Lodge. The staff are both caring and professional and the Home is run to a very high standard. Throughout the past year, under such challenging circumstances, they have continued to provide a safe environment for both residents and staff. They telephone each week
with an update on my Aunt's general health and well being as I am vulnerable myself and unable to visit at the present time.

Mum has been in The Lodge for several years now, she is settled and seems happy. Has said herself the staff are very kind, willing, helpful and do much to keep the residents stimulated. Whenever asked mum has always enjoyed the meals. Thank you.

Staff are caring and treat everyone as individuals. Such a difficult year for everyone. What would make my mother-in-laws day would be to have her hair permed like she always did before lockdown. Could hairdressers be allowed back in? The home has coped very well during the lockdown.

I attended a virtual dementia tour organised by The Lodge. It was amazing and made me realise the difficulties people with dementia experience every day. It certainly opened my eyes and I learnt very quickly the best approaches when talking to people with dementia. It was a valuable course and I would

Mum was made to feel very welcome when she first arrived. The room is very comfortable and well appointed with a view outside. The biggest asset to the home is the staff who are friendly, caring, helpful and have a sense of humour. The manager has a hands-on approach and knows all the residents and

Recently refurbished, bright and cheery decor. Mum's room is small but comfortable with ensuite toilet and sink. Staff are friendly, personable and seem to genuinely have an interest in her care, although attention to her medical needs very occasionally overlooked. For instance, I visited her and discovered
a rash on her back, yet it was said to me that it had not been noticed when she was washed and dressed. The daily programme of quality entertainment provided. A good hairdresser who visits weekly and has an in-house salon. Plenty of food and refreshments available at all times and never too much trouble if requested. Overall, I recommend this establishment. It has a relaxed atmosphere and the staff are very good with the residents.

I have been visiting the lodge for a while now and have been so impressed by the recent changes since the new owners took charge. The whole home feels revitalised and staff team are so happy to help. The manager is warm friendly and approachable.

My mother-in-law has been a resident in this home for 18 months and since Black Swan took over ownership this year the care and standards have improved immensely. The residents have a choice of menu and the staff are cheerful and very supportive. It is a home from home. The lounge is bright and comfortable
with a large television, the dining room is lovely too. The residents are taken out to events locally which they enjoy. Altogether, a very happy care home.

Leaving reviews is not something I normally take the time to do. However, I felt after visiting my sister who has been at the home a number of years, my experience was one of complete adoration to the efforts and changes that have been completed since the new ownership.


They truly care about the

people that live there and nothing is too much trouble. They have worked tirelessly at providing an adaptable environment and one where people have assisted with being given the choices to the small details and the overall decoration. Everything has changed and changed for the better. Everyone is smiling and the staff group are so helpful and caring. Thanks for making me worry less!
