Kings Lynn Residential Home

from N M (Nephew of Resident) published on 9 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
After my Aunt had experienced two previous care homes where they were happy to leave the residents couped up in their rooms all day, with minimal care from often inexperienced agency staff, it was so refreshing to enter her into what I would call a proper care home. From the moment of the initial interview,
to her entering the home, the care and individual attention has been second to none. When you enter the home, everyone from reception and the care staff, the management and even the maintenance man, all have a smile and politeness, welcoming residents and visitors alike and offer their assistance. Really pleased that the residents are encouraged to leave their rooms to socialise and to get much needed exercise and stimulation. After being in Black Swan for less than one month, my Aunt has already had a proper organised social trip out, this never happed at her previous homes and is essential for her wellbeing and health. Fantastic start to real care in a home my Aunt deserves.
Reply from Richard Lain-Smith, Head of Marketing and Social Media at Kings Lynn Residential Home

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are passionate that residents in our homes are supported to live as they would wish to do, and be supported to socialise with other residents and staff in the communal areas of the home. It's also really important that they are supported to enjoy life outside the home in our local community. We will pass on your positive comments to the teams at the home - even our Maintenance Manager!

My dad has now been in the Gables for almost a month, I have found the care home very helpful in every aspect from the initial care to his arrival at the home was very stress free. He was getting more and more frail living on his own and then a 2 weeks in hospital, and now he has settled into his new
life, room and the routine of the home. He is happy and there is a lot of activities for him to join in with. I am very happy with his care and staff are wonderful.

What an incredible day at the BBQ! From start to finish, it was filled with laughter, delicious food, and unforgettable memories. The energy was amazing - families coming together, kids running around with huge smiles, and the smell of perfectly grilled food in the air. There's something so special
about spending time outdoors with loved ones, soaking up the sun and enjoying the simple pleasures of great company and great food.

One of the best parts of the day was the variety of activities and events that brought everyone together. Whether it was the fun games for the kids, the live music, or the friendly competitions, there was something for everyone to enjoy. It's always heartwarming to see a community come alive like this - sharing stories, making new friends, and celebrating what really matters: connection.

Huge thanks to the organizers for putting together such a thoughtful and well-run event. These kinds of days remind us how important it is to slow down, be present, and celebrate.

When I finally accepted that my mum needed far more help & support than I was able to give I contacted the Gables to discuss. The manager could not have been more helpful and supportive. The whole process was sorted so efficiently and fast. The moment my mum arrived I knew I had made the right decision.
The manager had suggested I take clothing etc, in the previous day so that Mum was straight in and 'at home' immediately. Not only the manager the whole team are amazing. So caring and pleasant. Nothing is too much trouble.

Mum is settling into life at Nightingale Lodge very well, her start point being upset and disoriented. the manager and her staff ahve shown unfailing care, kindness and sensitivity in looking after Mum, helping her settle in. She now joins in with the activities like animal visits, word games, bingo
and dancing. Mum is less anxious when I visit her now, being in the conservatory interacting with other residents; it is precious time to go and join her in her physical environment and chat in whichever direction the conversation goes. She also has a piano keyboard in her room, pictures and cushions from her home. All staff are welcoming and very hospitable - there is a lovely family feel there. We can visit at anytime in the conservatory, lounge or garden. Mum always looks fresh and nicely dressed, including her red scarf! I am so pleased that we chose Nightingale Lodge. Vascular dementia is a truly horrible condition; however I feel that Mum has the best care and quality of life that she can enjoy and we are all welcome to visit her as her family. Thank you.

Despite ongoing safeguarding issues (now resolved), I am very impressed with the staff, management and care provided at York House. The support, patience and respect shown to my mother during this difficult period has been 1st class. Residents here are well cared for by an excellent team and I would
definitively recommend this care home.

Park House has been a big part of my life for more than 2 years now - my mother came here April 2023, and my dad joined her that November. The staff are like a second family - my 2 year old has grown-up here, and the staff were a great support to both me and my father when my mum died last year. I honestly
couldn't find a better place for my dad to be.
