Thomas Tawell House on the North side of Norwich city centre, provides dedicate care and support to older people, specialising in support for people with a visual impairment or sight loss.

Recently purchased by Black Swan care group, the home is being extensively refurbished to create a bright and comfortable environment for the residents.

Most of the 37 bedrooms have en-suite facilities and residents are welcome to decorate and personalise their rooms. There is a dining room, adapted bathrooms and communal living rooms, including the newly redecorated Mitre Room; throughout the home there’s specialist flooring and colourways to assist residents with sight impairments to move around the home independently.

Sweet smelling plants and flowers have been planted in the private garden to create a sensory experience.

There is an array of stimulating and engaging group and one-to-one activities available for residents to enjoy – based on their preferences.

I can't recommend the carers at Thomas Tawell House enough. They are wonderful looking after my friend as she can be very difficult at times. They have so much patience and I can't thank them enough.

Another lovely BBQ event in the garden at Thomas Tawell House. Great event as usual and lots of hard work put into by the team of caring helpers. Not forgetting the amazing manager, who is in my opinion is the best manager ever that we have had in the 18 years I have been visiting my brother. This is
a very welcoming home and a very place to be. Our brother loves it he's been here since 2008 and is very happy.

My mother-in-law has now been in TTH for approximately 6 weeks. She seems to have settled in really quickly. The staff all seem very nice, kind, friendly and supportive of each other, which is great to see. The activities available to residents seem exceptional, the staff work, very hard. All in all
my mother-in-law seems really happy, which is good. A big thank you to all the staff.

Amazing residential home, all staff friendly and can't do enough for you. Rooms are modern and clean, food is always of good quality. Events are outstanding! So much effort is put in. Every event we have attended is always packed full of activities, singers and entertainers. Highly recommend TTH!

Staff do not inform relatives of any medical issues or hospital appointments.
Staff take residents out into the community in their wheelchair without thought for their health and safety as do not use lap belt to stop them falling out.
Also, residents know staff's personal business.

The main concerns are not being washed properly and feet not being washed regularly. A particular hot milky drink is not always given at night. Waiting too long for carers to answer the call bell. Some staff are not always aware Mum is not able to see and do things herself. Being told at night to wait
for a toilet visit as they are busy. Overall my sister and I are happy with Mu's care. Thank you.
