Nearly two years ago my late husband was admitted for respite care and the whole family were very impressed with the care he received. It felt like a real family; the friendliness, attention and all that one would hope for was evident. The food was and is still very good! So when I needed care The Lodge was my first choice and I have no been disappointed.

Mum resides at Valentine House where the staff are all lovely.Professional and caring.Dad also resided at Valentine House up until recently when he passed away where the staff showed care, empathy and warmth at a very vulnerable time for myself and the family.Mum has settled into the care home and joins in with the activities, where there is such a lovely feeling to the home when you walk through the front door.I cannot praise Valentine House enough.

I have been in a few care homes and can honestly say none compare to The Lodge. This place is very loving, caring and personal to all their residents. My nan is cared for and respected so highly. She is always saying how much she loves being in here. I wouldn't want my nan to be anywhere but here. The staff are so loving and friendly. They are amazing.

The Lodge is wonderful, the care, kindness and dedication shown by all the staff from cleaners to carers and of course the amazing chef is amazing. I always arrive to a warm welcome and leave knowing mum is safe and receiving the very best care and attention.

Review of Maitland House from Debbie B (Daughter of Resident) published on 3 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

We have been so pleased with the care Dad received at Maitland House. Every aspect of the care we hoped for was provided and more. Dad quickly settled, thanks to the family atmosphere, amazing carers and professionally organised home. It was so heart warming to see how Dad's comfort and wellbeing were so important to every member of staff and to see that he was valued as a member of the Maitland family. Dad has now sadly passed, but his passing was managed with such care and dignity and with such kind support for us, for which we will always be so grateful.

The welcome I received on visiting my mother was exemplary. All the staff were helpful in answering my questions. The room my mother has is light and airy, beautifully furnished and made her feel at home. She hasn't been here long but is so happy and is well looked after. I am so glad that I chose The Lodge. The food is variable for choice and is a lovely menu. Nothing is too much trouble for any staff member.

My mother was lovingly looked after by the team at the Lodge for the last few years of her life until she died when 98 years old. Some of the carers treated her as if she was their own mother.
They knew what food she was able to eat and nothing was too much trouble for Jung the cook to serve mum the food she liked. Many of the staff did all they could to help her with her meal times when eating became difficult for her.
They were very gentle and caring , and she appreciated very much the way Regina cut her finger nails.

The atmosphere in the home was so peaceful, the family were always made welcome whenever we visited and served tea and biscuits .

Mum was a full time resident for around 15 months following a fall and loss of mobility. She had been an occasional resident for several years before. We visited without prior notice once or twice a month and invariably found her well presented, warm and content. The staff were unfailingly attentive to her, being alert to her declining faculties. The care and genuine affection shown towards her was most reassuring.

Review of Spring Lodge from K B (Friend of Resident) published on 30 January 2026 Submitted via Website

As a friend of someone who lives here, I've always been really impressed with how caring and kind everyone is. Every time I visit, I'm made to feel welcome, and there's such a warm, friendly atmosphere throughout the home.

The staff are lovely, always smiling, and genuinely care about the people they look after. The place is always clean and comfortable, and it really feels more like a community than a care home. It's very reassuring to see how well everyone is treated.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this care home. A big thank you to all the staff for everything you do - it really shows

We visit one a month roughly as we do not live near. It's a lovely place & my mother-in-law is very happy. The staff appear wonderful with the residents always appearing well cared for and happy. Having worked as a nurse in a care home, I feel I can happily say The Lodge is excellent.

Lovely home and excellent staff can't do enough for mum or any of the family. Nice to know that mum is comfortable and happy where she is and has been for as long as she has been here. Big shout out to the chef as the food is exceptional, I could keep on going but I'm going to keep it short and sweet - I think that this home must be the best around and has been for a long while.

I was at The Lodge for 2 weeks respite recently. I have to say that I found the experience excellent. The staff were all without exception wonderfully helpful, kind and caring and fun. The building was spotlessly clean and well decorated. My bedroom was very comfortable. Most of the residents seem to be very happy. The entertainment was good fun and food very nice. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Lodge.

My mother has resided at The Lodge for nearly 2 years. During this time we have always found the level of care to be of a very high level. All of the staff go above and beyond to provide a happy and relaxed environment for both residents and their families and visitors. Cleanliness is always to a very high standard and the menu choice and quality of food is very impressive. Entertainment and activities provided are varied and imaginative. The staff deserve to be commended for providing a comfortable and caring home.
