Mum was only at York House for 1 weeks respite care, but was looked after really well. All staff were really friendly and made us feel at ease. We will if necessary in future be pleased to use this service again to take care of her. Many thanks to all.

My mother is now under the care of York House in Dereham. It was a tough decision to admit she needed more care than we were able to provide. At the time I felt guilty but now I see she has care of the highest standard. She also has company all the time and is safe and well fed. The home has a lovely
atmosphere and all the carers are amazing.

The manager and staff at York House are always very welcoming when we arrive. The home is clean and very pleasant to look at. The staff are friendly and always offer drinks and snacks. The Christmas Party was exceptional in entertainment, atmosphere and food provided. We were sorry that we could not
accept their invitation to go for Christmas lunch.

Dad looked forward to his stay there over New Year's while we visited family further away than he can now travel.

Dad's respite stays there mean that we get to relax and recharge the batteries knowing that he will be cared for at the highest standard. He always likes to know the next dates that he will be back before he leaves!

A lovely home with lovely people.

Thank you x

We visited my aunt along with several other family members to wish her well on her 97th birthday.

On arrival we were offered tea or coffee which was a nice surprise.

We were treated to a wonderful spread of food including savouries and cakes etc by the home/staff and were made to feel very welcome.

Overall

a lovely afternoon spending a few hours with her on her birthday and I'm sure she enjoyed it as much as us.

Everyone involved deserves a big thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.846)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.846) out of 10 for York House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 47 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.846 for York House is calculated as follows: ( (457 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 533 Ratings = 4.846
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for York House is based on 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6, which has been reached with 47 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
