York House

I’m writing to highlight the excellent care my late father received as a resident at York House, Dereham. My father passed away on the 31st of February He had been a resident at York House for eighteen months. My brother and I spent most of the last week with him and saw the amazing professional and respectful care he received. The manager and her team organised very promptly everything to ensure he was as comfortable as possible. I would also like to mention the night staff they again were excellent with their care and attention. The staff also couldn’t do enough to ensure we were both okay by providing us with endless drinks and food. During my father’s stay, there was very good communication between staff and ourselves and any suggestions about my father’s care were actioned promptly. On one occasion we suggested that the door to my father's en-suite be turned around to possibly make access for his walker. We would recommend York House to other families.

Every time we visit we find that the staff are all friendly and the residents happy. The care given to residents is always very kindly given.

There is always something going on to occupy the residents keeping them engaged. Drinks are always on hand and everything seems very flexible rather than regimented.

Every visit we are made very welcome and every member of staff greets us with a friendly smile. Mum is looked after very well and as a visitor I have never heard her or indeed other residents making a genuine complaint. As Mum has been a resident since October 2022, I think this is remarkable. Well done everyone, carry on the good work.

I visit my friend weekly at York House and am always greeted with smiles and friendliness from all staff. They are all so helpful. The house is always clean and tidy. I always get offered a cup of tea and made to feel at home. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The home gives a feeling of professionalism but also feels so homely. I always look forward to visiting.

As usual, I received a warm welcome from the staff and found my mother-in-law happily seated in the resident's lounge. Coffee was provided for me and my husband by a very courteous member of staff. I dropped some items in my mother-in-law's room which was clean and fresh as I've come to expect. Would definitely recommend York House!

Always greeted with a smile from all staff. The home is clean, bright and very pleasantly decorated. Lots of activities for residents to do or watch/listen. Quality of care is exemplary. Our resident is not always the easiest to care for/keep happy, but the staff never give up!

During the adaptation period, the team made every effort to create a sense of home from home in the surroundings. I have no doubt this is the reason for the successful start of a new life. Having visited numerous care providers in Norfolk I have no doubt that we made the best choice. Deciding to move a loved one to a care home can often be difficult. However, any doubt I may have had regarding this decision has been eradicated due to the exemplary care, communication and advice we have received which has gone beyond my expectations.

For the past six months, I have been visiting York house. I have been very impressed with all my visits (I visit weekly). I have always found the staff friendly, attentive, caring and professional. There are varied activities made available. Residents are not just put in front of the TV. The manager exudes a professional energy. this is a very well-run home. Well done!

The home is always kept very clean with a wide range of food to choose from. The staff do not just do their job, they take time to make sure residents are happy and all their needs are catered for. Hopefully, this service will continue to the some standard as in about fifteen years I might need it. Many thanks to all the staff.

We have had a challenge with my mother-in-law and York House has been wonderful. My mother-in-law went to another home and she did not take to it so York House kindly allowed her to return. The staff went above and beyond to welcome her back. Mother-in-law settled quickly thanks to their kind support.

We are so pleased that Mother is being cared for at York House. The staff are unfailingly kind, considerate and attentive while giving the residents their maximum agency to make their own decisions. The environment is warm, welcoming and homely. There is a wonderful variety of activities and entertainment provided. Mother has gone from being lonely and struggling in her own home to being safe, happy and thriving.

Visiting my sister who has been a resident at York House for a few weeks. The home is lovely, feels like home. Carers are lovely and management very good.

The staff enabled me to visit my stepmum in her room which was lovely. The staff are always friendly and my stepmum looks really well.

First visit to an old client today. Security was good and prompt answer to the doorbell. Friendly staff explained the signing-in and out system and showed me to my client, even brought a chair. She looked well and happy, some visitors already there were all offered refreshments with a smile. A singer was there today in the living room, was nice to see that. My friend had had her hair done (and wickers) so was really happy. Bless her, she settled in slowly she said but it's growing on her. She said the food is very good. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

All staff were so welcoming, friendly, and couldn’t do enough for Mum.

York House is a lovely home. Very impressed.

My mum spent the last six weeks of her life under the tender care of the team a York House. I have no hesitation in recommending it as somewhere that provides individualised, kind care and a homely atmosphere. The staff are well trained and efficient and care for the relatives and the residents in equal measure.
