Millard House

My mum became a resident in January this year. I have only ever found the staff and management to be very kind and friendly. It's been very difficult with the Covid situation, but my mum has always seemed really happy, and I've always been able to reassure her if she has had a bad day. I would highly recommend Millard House care home. Always so much for my mum to do.

Helpful and kine and he was well looked after and kept clean, tidy and happy.

Overall Millard House is of a satisfactory standard. My friend seems to be quite happy here. He is treated very well and taken care of nicely.

We moved my mother here after a short stay in hospital to recuperate. Initially, we weren't entirely comfortable with doing this as she had had always lived on her own and we thought it might not work out. We needn't have worried. The staff have been excellent - always very kind, helpful and attentive. They have taken very good care of her and she has greatly improved during her stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anyone considering residential care for a resident.

The staff go the extra mile to make the residents happy. I've not seen my mum this happy for years. She has settled in really well and has nothing but praise for everyone. The small things like painting her nails, putting cream on her dry skin and staff spending time talking about her life and interests. I can't thank you enough.

Some care homes are like hospitals, quiet and sombre, unlike Millard House. Anyone who has had a friend or relative at Millard House will associate the home with fun, in fact, I would say it's more like an all-inclusive hotel. There is a happy atmosphere as soon as you enter, be it from staff or residents. Entertainment and activities keep residents amused all the time. During the COVID crisis outside entertainment has not been possible, but staff have picked up the baton and carried on, be it bingo, skittles, or a good old fashioned sing-a-long. No, care homes are not about Palacious surroundings and marble pillars, they're about happiness and joy and Millard has that in spades.

My mum has Alzheimer' and I had to make the hard decision for her to go into a care home for her safety and wellbeing. I was fortunate enough for Millard House to have space to take her as a permanent resident. Since going there my mum has flourished with their care. She does activities like art and crafts which she has never done in her life, she has fantastic social interaction with the staff and residents and whenever I see photos and videos of her on Facebook her face radiates happiness. The greatest thing to see is her dancing as she has always loved that. During the Covid lockdown, Mum was always fretful and sad at home but now she always tells us how happy she is. Her Alzheimer’s has not changed but her quality of life has improved 100%. The staff have looked after her personal care and hygiene, which was another thing I could not get her to do at home, but now she looks fresh as a daisy. The food is amazing as well and Mum looks a picture of health.

I moved my mother to Millard House from a care home in another area. The change in her is amazing, after a couple of days. The staff are amazing.

Being here for four years and class it as my home. I am very settled and contented.

I am very pleased when my mother was looked after at Millard House. The staff are truly amazing and providing a high standard of care. The management was handling the situation effectively concerning Covid-19. Thank you all for what you have done for my Mother.

Dad has been a resident for over 5-years, and in that time, we have seen many changes with staff, management and ownership. At the time of this review, we are in a worldwide pandemic, a challenging time for us all. The management and staff have worked under great pressure, and it is at times like this that people show their true worth.

Our father was placed in Millard House in late September 2020. He was welcomed with open arms, and our experience with Millard House staff in the last 2-months has been absolutely brilliant. Extremely kind, caring, friendly staff who have time to listen not only to us but to my father as well. He has been through an extremely hard time in the last 4-years, but the amazing staff look after him so well and have bought our Dad back to smiling, laughing and joking again. He says he is so happy there and would not return to his home. A massive thank you to everyone for making our Dad happy.

I am happy to recommend Millard House, and thank everybody for their kindness generally and the care they provide for Dad.

In reference to Millard House, from my experience, dealing and visiting over the last 9-years have only been positive. Many changes have been made to the home, to make it more friendly for the residents. Staff have always been courteous and caring. Management could have better stability in regards to consistency as many have come and gone.

Sadly my sister passed away on 7th April. Both my daughter and I asked at least 7 times if my sister's possessions were ready for me to collect and the answer was no. I was eventually told that the senior female manager had had them destroyed. I was absolutely distraught. I made a formal complaint against her to the owner by letter. I received a letter back 3 weeks later with no explanation. I then asked for a meeting. That was also a waste of time. They were blaming staff and did not give me a reason so I passed my complaint on to the Care Quality Commission. I cannot praise the care staff, cleaners and kitchen staff enough.

Very happy with the care provided to a member of my family. Recent months have been challenging with the Covid crisis and staff have been very good.

My mother has been at Millard house since January 3rd 2020. She has been shown nothing but kindness and care. When Mum has been feeling unwell or they are concerned about her health, they have contacted the local doctor. My only criticism is that a doctor has not been to see my mother in person since she has been at the home - if the doctor had listened to us, her family, she would not have gone to hospital.

Our mother's care and needs have rarely been in doubt and she is well looked after at Millard House. The staff and management do an excellent job.
