As soon as she arrived through the door, the general manager and care manager rolled up their sleeves and attended to every aspect of our mother's physical and psychological needs in her new environment. Without exception, all of the staff are conscientious, professional, caring and diligent, delivering care with smiles and good humour.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this wonderful feedback. We are delighted to hear that your mother felt supported from the moment she arrived, especially after her time in hospital.
Our managers, and the whole team will be truly encouraged by your kind words. They work hard to...
My great aunt recently celebrated her 100th birthday together with family and friends. There were 28 of us in total, so it was quite a large gathering. The staff at Read House helped us organise the event by sectioning off half of the dining area and decorating it beautifully for the occasion. They provided delicious sandwiches - the food is excellent - and made sure everyone was very well looked after throughout the afternoon. We are all extremely grateful that we were able to use the facilities at Read House to celebrate such a special milestone with her.
In general, my great aunt receives very good round-the-clock care. Many of the staff take the time to sit and talk with her, sharing stories and conversations, which means a great deal to her. In recent years, she has understandably struggled at times with reduced mobility and the sadness of losing many close friends and family members. Human connection, kindness and companionship therefore really matter.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review of your great aunt's experience at our home. It means a great deal to our whole team to know that her 100th birthday celebration was such a special and memorable occasion for your family. We were delighted to help you host the...
Daphne was made to feel welcome, valued and respected from the beginning which helped us feel more comfortable. The staff were always available to share our worries with and help if possible. Daphne was helped to live her last few years with safety and dignity. Thank you.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share these kind words. It truly means a great deal to us to know that Daphne felt welcomed, valued, and respected throughout her time with us. Hearing that you and your family felt comfortable and supported is something we hold close, because creating that...
My uncle was in another home for nearly 2 years and spent most of his time in his bed. Was not supported to interact. Since moving to Read House, he has spent very little time in bed and enjoyed his meals in the dining hall with other residents. When I visit, he is interested in conversation and seems brighter in himself. The staff are friendly and management approachable. Everyone there has helped him settle in and start to enjoy life again.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this lovely feedback. Were delighted to hear how well your uncle has settled in and that youve noticed such a positive change in him. Supporting residents to stay engaged, comfortable, and connected is incredibly important to us, and it means a great...
My father went into Read House during the last 5 months of his life. We were provided with an excellent pre-admission visit with all information we needed. Whilst there he was shown care and compassion staff got to know his likes and dislikes. Facilities were brilliant and particularly during his last week we also felt cared for and that we were important and part of the Read House family.
Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt account of your fathers time at Read House. It means a great deal to know that he was cared for with compassion and that you and your family felt supported and included throughout his stay, especially during his final week. We are grateful for your kind words and will ensure the team knows how much their care meant to you.
All in all a lovely care home with exceptional staff.
Its wonderful to know that our care manager made you feel welcome...
My Dad was ar Read House for around a year. The care he received was outstanding, the Home is welcoming, safe, loving and truly a home. It is run very efficiently and with humanity. The residents are definitely front and centre of the management's focus and they are very well provided for. I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful home.
Helen
The staff really go the extra mile to look after all of the residents and nothing is too much trouble. As mums condition steadily deteriorated they were there for her to ensure she was as comfortable as possible.
They have a really well planned daily activity schedule which helps to stimulate the residents.
During the period the owners have spent a great deal of time and money redecorating the place as well and it is an immaculate care home.
Thank you so much Chris for your kind words about Read House. We are truly grateful that you entrusted us with your mother's care, and it means a great deal to know that our staff and home made such a positive difference for her and for your family. Our team takes great pride in going the extra...
Read looked after my Mum very well as she recovered from a fall and hip fracture. The home and staff are friendly, engaging and try their best to mobilise residents and interest them in activities. Mum was as happy as she could be living in a care home whilst with Read

It means a great deal to hear that she was as happy as she could be here. She will be greatly missed by all of us, and we are honoured to have been part of her journey.
I highly recommend Read House. My father was there for nearly two years during which time he was shown love and kindness. The level of care is excellent and nothing is too much trouble. The residents have plenty of choice of activities and everyone is included.

My mother from a long stay in hospital, came to a very pleasant well appointed room. The staff are welcoming and kind, showing great respect for mum's needs. They are always eager to help and nothing seems to be to much trouble. A well organised and managed establishment with excellent staffOut of Top 30 (Position) - All looks ok so set to PP and sent verification email.

My dad stayed in read house for two weeks respite in June, he stayed in the new area which was lovely and very well equipped, he said he was in a five star hotel, he said he enjoyed his stay and wouldn't hesitate to return, we couldn't fault anything about his stay, every one was extremely kind and caring and the food was excellent, management made everything stress free for me as I was very apprehensive about having to leave him, I would like to say a massive thank you to you all, you do an amazing job!
Thank you for you kind review! We are so happy that everything worked out well! We will definitely pass this on to our incredible staff team who create the fantastic environment around Read House.
After my dad passed away in November it became apparent my mum was struggling, as we all were as he was such a central part of her life in particular after 60 years of marriage. However, we realised there was more to this and mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I live in Switzerland and mum is happy to visit but wanted to stay in Essex close to friends. We visited a number of residential homes with my mum and she liked Read House from the moment she walked in, as did I. All of the staff are incredibly caring and the Manager always has time to talk. Mum initially came in for respite last month but she told me that she knew she wasn't safe to live on her own and Read House would be somewhere she would be happy to stay. Mum has a lovely room overlooking the beautiful garden and whenever I call she always seems to be busy in various activities or getting her hair done. I just returned from visiting her and she was smiling as I left sitting with new friends.
Thank you for your kind review! We are so happy your Mum has settled in well. Our aim is to create a welcoming and homely environment for all our residents!
Since my father moved into Read House, he has been so beautifully looked after. The understanding, compassion and care that they show to my father is outstanding. Dementia is a very cruel illness but every single member of staff that my father interacts with is so patient and always has the time for him.
The residence is spotless clean at all times and the food provided is wonderful, always catering for my fathers' specific dietary needs. It is a scary thing to decide that your parent needs to be somewhere other than their own home, however Read House had made that transition so much easier for both my father and myself. Their support and guidance to me has also been invaluable.
I would love to name every member of staff as they are all truly wonderful, however there isn't the space. So I will just mention the manager whose one ambition in life is to ensure that Read House feels like a resident's home. She believes it is their sanctuary and it truly is.
Thank you very much for your kind review! Supporting families through the transition into care is something we take great pride in, and it means a lot to know that our team's compassion and dedication have made a difference.
My mother came to Read House after suffering a stroke until she passed away some 6 months later from a second stroke. From the first contact until the end, everyone was professional, kind, caring, and friendly. This was a weight off my mind! Mum went through a period of very challenging behaviour, was dealt with in a professional and sensitive way. I would recommend the app that allows you to track your loved ones ' days, good or bad! From my experience, I highly recommend Read House.
Thank you sincerely for your kind and moving words. It was an honour to care for your mother during her time with us, and to support you and your family throughout her journey. I remember her well, and I also remember the strength and love you showed during what was undoubtedly an incredibly...
I have recently had to place my mother, who has dementia, into a care environment. After much research and visiting homes, I selected Read House, Frinton- on-Sea. I have to say, from day one, I have been amazed by the dedication and care the staff have displayed supporting my mother (and me) to smooth this hard transition. My biggest fear was my mother being left in a room being fed and safe but not happy. My mother is safe and 'well fed' and is really happy and, despite dementia, says how lovely the staff are. I don't think anyone but a close relative would understand the fears of the move to a care home, but I applaud Read House for everything they have done to make this easier.
Thank you for your kind review! We are so happy your mother has settled in well.
A friend of mine who is in her mid-90s needed respite care following an operation. She was very anxious and nervous about going into a care home setting but was very happy within a short time of arriving.
The manager was lovely and went above and beyond to ensure my friend felt very welcome and all the staff were very reassuring, kind, and supportive.
My friend received excellent care and was very complimentary about the food, and facilities activities and overall very impressed with everything at Read House.
Thank you very much for your feedback! We aim for only the highest standards in everything we do.
The manager has made herself available all day to help with our needs, she even helped the maintenance man move Dad's furniture and items he wanted to bring to the home.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We're so glad to hear that your dad's transition to Read House has gone smoothly. It's wonderful to know that the manager has been so supportive and attentive to both your family's needs and your dad's. The level of care you described truly highlights the commitment to providing a positive and seamless experience.
I came to Read House for 2 weeks of respite care following major knee surgery. I had an excellent experience. The staff are very caring and professional. Residents are treated with respect in a positive manor. Happy atmosphere. The lunch is tasty and appropriate. Exercises are well taught.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a positive time at Read House during your recovery. Our team works hard to provide the best care possible, so it's wonderful to know that you felt well cared for and supported. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words to the staff. Wishing you continued recovery and all the best moving forward!
A beautiful home with really welcoming, friendly, and helpful management and staff. My Mother-in-law didn't want to be in respite care and determined she wasn't going to like it, but everyone was so positive and encouraging. Excellent food, with my MIL deliberately seated with other residents who would be friendly and welcoming. Lots of activities and she was encouraged to take part when she felt comfortable.
Thank you for your kind review! We aim for the highest standards in everything we do!
