Stanway Green Lodge is situated in a quiet and picturesque area of Colchester. The family run home offers a very personal level of care and is an ideal place to stay if individuals are looking for a small, friendly and homely environment.

Due to the small nature of the home, the staff will truly know each person and understand all their individual needs. Service users are given every opportunity and the encouragement to follow hobbies and share interest in new ones. The comprehensive entertainment program features in-house activities as well as entertainers from outside.

Residents also have the opportunity to participate in organised trips and outings, allowing them to see local sights and visit places of interest.

The home believes strongly in maintaining links with the local community and as a result has contact with religious bodies (All Saints, Kingsland and Colchester Baptist Churches), students at Essex University and the Iceni Academy.

The home has two lounges with pleasant views of the garden as well a large dining room where all meals are served.

The attractive gardens with outside seating makes it ideal for relaxing in the summer months, as well as hosting the homes annual summer garden party.

The staff have been extremely good in helping my dad to settle in after he came out of the hospital. As he says himself, “nothing is too much trouble.” There is a lovely welcoming and homely atmosphere. He loves the food! It has been a huge relief to find that he is so comfortable and happy there.

I would highly recommend Stanway Green Lodge, the care my father received was excellent.
The staff were very friendly, the care home was extremely clean and well equipped.
The management was very helpful and very hands on. We have only praise for them.

My aunt received excellent care. All staff were friendly and caring and treated her with dignity and respect at all times. The food was tasty and well prepared. My aunt said the cook was excellent and when she became unable to swallow a normal diet, they ensured they had soft food for her and tried
to find food that would tempt her to eat, ordering desserts especially for her. The manager came to speak to her every day and even bought her some word search books to enjoy.
They have various activities for the residents to participate in as they wish, for example, a knitting group, cooking, planting of containers and visits from the local primary school which the residents and pupils seem to enjoy. The atmosphere of the home is welcoming and calm. Sadly, my aunt passed away but this was peaceful and the staff were caring of her and us to the very end.

My aunt, a widow with dementia, has been resident at Stanway Lodge since September 2017. I cannot praise them enough. They look after her very well, she can be difficult living in the past, wandering and wanting to go out, but with care and patience. they have got her settled. She is comfortable and
has made friends and they look after her physical condition and mental health very well. They give individual care depending on the needs of the residents and have a good range of activities to entertain them.


My mother was at this same home 8 years ago and it has the same owners a family run business and some of the same staff, which I think says a great deal about how the place is run. I have no hesitation recommending it and my sister and I hope it is still running when our turn comes as we would be happy to live there.

My mother has been in this care home just over 6 months and has settled in really well. All the staff are extremely friendly, caring and in my opinion 'go the extra mile' to ensure she feels safe, happy and well cared for.


Being a privately owned care home, it feels more like a family, with regular

staff (rather than numerous agency staff, you get in bigger 'chain' homes) and the owner is also very hands-on and ensures everyone gets the care and attention they need.


I am so pleased to have found such a lovely place for my mum, where I feel confident her needs are met, her dignity is maintained and she is shown such compassion by all the staff. Nothing seems too much trouble for them. Thank you all so much!


I would have no hesitation in recommending Stanway Green Lodge to anyone looking for a bright, cheerful, homely and caring environment for a family member.

From the very first visit to the Stanway Green Lodge, care Home we knew that my Nan would be very happy here and would enjoy being part of a home after living alone for 20 years.


We celebrated my nans 90th birthday at the home which was a great success we had over 20 family and friends, we couldn’t

thank the manager and his staff for making this day very special.


She especially likes meal times and talking to other residents at the dinner table.


The manager and his staff have been amazing from the very start ensuring that my nans best wishes have always been put first, my nan needs lots of help but the staff are always there for her especially when she needs it the most.


As a family, we can not thank the home enough for their continued support.

My mother has been a resident at Stanway Green Lodge since September and my siblings and I are very happy with the care my mother is receiving. It is a very friendly and welcoming home and I do not feel that I am entering a place of business when I visit I feel like I am visiting mum in her home.
The manager and all the carers are very approachable and friendly and seem to know not only the residents by name but all the visitors too and they all make time to chat with my mother and I. They make sure that a Doctor calls at the first sign of any illness and if I have any concerns they will listen and ask a Doctor to see my mother.
The home always looks clean and has no unpleasant odours and the laundry service is excellent. There are many activities organised and family members are welcome to join in. Mum's first Christmas at the home was lovely and everybody worked hard to make it a special time.
I am pleased we found Stanway Green Lodge and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

In March we needed to find care for my Dad. We were recommended the home by a colleague whose family member is a resident there.
We arranged a visit and were made welcome, all of our concerns were addressed and felt this was the right place for my Dad.
The management and staff are all very caring/friendly
and are always willing to help, you see the same staff regularly which is good for the residents and their families.
They have meetings regarding things that happen in the home and everyone has an input which is lovely. The activities are well lead and are suitable for all, the local community, School/Church and more are part of the team.
On my Dad's first day he settled in, I thought he would want to stay in his room but he went to the lounge and introduced himself and stayed there until he wanted to go to bed.
My Dad's needs have changed and the home have brought the equipment he requires.
I cannot thank the Home enough for all of the continuing care and support they give to my Dad and our family.

I found the management and staff to be highly professional, caring and showed much warmth to their residents. During my mother's stay the staff were attentive to her needs and organised GP visits or checkups to address any medical issues - this was handled very efficiently and I was kept informed at
all times. The rooms and the building as a whole were kept very clean and, as this is not a large care home, there was a homely feel. There are plenty of places for residents to mix including an enclosed garden area.

I was very impressed with all aspects of care within Stanway Green Lodge. It is a privately owned residence and the owner is very hands on ensuring his high standards are maintained at all times. On a practical day to basis, all the needs of my mother were met efficiently and nothing was too much trouble.
What is particularly impressive is the empathy and kindness demonstrated by all of the staff and is clearly embedded in the culture. Stability is key for the elderly and seeing the same staff on a regular basis (rather than numerous agency staff) is very important. I have no hesitation in recommending Stanway Green Lodge.

My wife came here in April but unfortunately then spent many weeks in the hospital and died in the home in early August. She was always treated with great care and kindness, especially so when she was released from the hospital into palliative care at the home.

When she first arrived at the home
she was invited into the activities. She made Easter cards and painted Easter eggs and seemed really happy. In her former care home she rarely, if ever, took part in activities. The warmth and friendliness at Stanway Green was what struck me. I only wish I had found the home sooner.

From our first visit the owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating. There is always a friendly atmosphere the staff are very caring and they made my mother very comfortable and welcome, she thoroughly enjoyed her time there and was well looked after.

My father in law was living in Stanway Green Lodge from March 2017 to early June. The care and kindness shown to him by the manager and his team was wonderful. The care home is in a lovely setting with very pretty gardens. The bedrooms are clean and smart. Actually, all areas of the building are

Admission was arranged with care and help with the transfer smoothly taken out of my hands due to my indisposition at the time.


Very helpful and caring, keeping me in touch with welfare and needs of the resident. Any concerns are addressed immediately, health is monitored constantly.

I was recommended to this home when I needed a respite placement for my mother when I was on holiday. From the time I made the initial enquiry with the care home, to the day the staff gathered to wave my mum goodbye at the end of her stay, I could not fault anything about this home. The staff and management
were so helpful, caring, friendly, efficient and professional. They ensured mum was made to feel at home and encouraged her to interact with the other residents and participate in the many organised activities and outings. The staff showed detailed knowledge of the resident's needs and how much they cared for them. Nothing was too much trouble to ensure the resident's happiness. The food was varied and appetising, with an excellent choice of menus. The management took great trouble to interview me and build up a profile of mum, to ensure they fulfilled her needs. We loved the homely atmosphere, the gardens and the spotlessly clean surroundings. Thank you everyone.

I am confident my relative is well looked after and provided with a safe and secure environment. My relative speaks highly of the management and staff. Some activities such as gardening and baking are excellent and stimulating. It is good that residents are involved with the local community. Staff always

Since our very first visit before my mother chose to live here, what initially stood out was how well run Stanway Green Lodge was, with a homely and welcoming atmosphere along with compassionate and helpful staff.


After her 'trial' day, my mother wanted to move in without hesitation and we both haven't

looked back as to what has amounted to a life changing experience for both of us. It's the first time I can rest assured that she is in a caring and safe environment, in knowing she has the company, enrichment activities and twenty-four hour assistance - all which I could no longer cope with as a sole carer.
Despite the busyness and commitment of the staff, I can only commend what I have seen of the high level of dignity and care that my mother and other residents are treated with. Everyone is always so kind and friendly on my regular visits, which leaves me with a sense that my relationship with them is equally as important.

After a respite stay, I was very happy when my father became a permanent resident in the home. The manager is extremely helpful and approachable both to myself and my father. The staff are caring and cheerful. The room is comfortable, spacious and is kept very clean. Food at the home is of an excellent
standard. My father quickly settled in and is very content at the home.

My Mother has only been at Stanway Green Lodge for just over 2 months but has settled in really well. The staff have made her very welcome and treat her with dignity and respect.
There is a very nice feel about the Home and it is very welcoming. There is a pretty garden to sit in in the summer.
There
are different activities that you can participate if you wish most afternoons.
I would recommend Stanway Green Lodge Care Home to anyone.
