My husband was only in Barton Lodge for 6weeks, he passed away in May 2017.
I would like to express my appreciation for the excellent care he received, the staff were always very friendly, helpful and courteous.

Management and staff are courteous and kind. My friend is always in fresh clothes, showered and looks well cared for.
The food is good and presented in an appetising way in a sunny dining room, with fresh flowers on all the tables.
Most of all, there is a tranquil, friendly atmosphere throughout
the home, which we think comes from the approach and attitude of management.
My friend says 'the nurses and carers are always lovely and very kind to me.'

Excellent care, happy place, nice manager and staff. Nice mixed collection of people. Nice bedroom and sitting rooms.

My sister was in Barton Lodge for a short while but when she was there, she was provided with excellent care and attention. The staff were very attentive and kind to her. Barton Lodge is very well run and spotless. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to my friends and family.

Barton Lodge looked after my mother during her final weeks. They were truly outstanding in their level of care, the compassion they showed and the service they provided. The level of communication was excellent and I was encouraged to call as often as I liked.
I was always kept informed about mum and
her condition. They also took the time to care about me and my own health issues. Thank you for doing something I would have struggled to do.

When my mum came here two years ago she settled in very well. They catered for her dietary needs which is gluten free. The staff gave my mum a lot of care and support and treated her with great dignity. My mum has advanced dementia and her speech was next to none, but the staff were very patient with
her and listened to her needs.
Sadly, mums needs have gone to the next level and she is leaving to move to intense care. Mum has enjoyed her time here, it is such a nice, light, airy place with lovely gardens to walk in and the lounge facilities are open and spacious. The staff are very caring.

Amanda

Amanda Cooper

Job Title: Registered Home Manager Joined: 2012

Amanda has been with us since March 2012. She is enthusiastic and approachable with an infectious smile and a sunny disposition! She sets a fantastic example to everyone at the home with her hands-on approach and helps make Barton Lodge the best home in the New-Forest Region.


Amanda holds qualifications in Health and Social Care and has completed her Master’s Degree equivalent, QCF Level 7 accreditation. She is also a Mental Health First Aider, as well as qualified trainer for safeguarding and a trainer in dementia. She continues to maintain her qualifications and knowledge through attendance at training courses and seminars throughout the year.


In her spare time, Amanda enjoys swimming, aqua-size and cycling. She also has a cat called Smudge – which she is allergic to!

Barbara

Barbara Almond

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2014

Barbara joined Barton Lodge in May 2014 and has a real passion for organising fun and entertaining activities. Her experience stems from her days as a Girl Guide leader and Scout leader bringing 19 years of experience to Barton Lodge. She really is an expert in her field!


Barbara’s warm, smiling and approachable character helps her build an excellent rapport with the residents and she loves seeing those smiles after an afternoon of activities! She genuinely thrives on the pleasure she feels when she sees the difference the activities make to the lives of our residents.


In her spare time, Barbara enjoys spending quality time with her family and has two dogs that keep her busy outside of work!

Jenny

Jenny Edge

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2018

Jenny’s first job when she left school was a Window Dresser with a well-known high street fashion retailer. Jenny then went on to achieve a City and Guilds in Floristry and run her own shop in Southbourne for five years. Jenny has N.V.Q 3 and 4 in Health and Social Care and has worked in a care home setting for more than twenty years. Activities has been a very important part of Jenny’s work.


Jenny is involved with the local Dementia Group and Café and is married with one son and three grandchildren which keep her busy. Jenny also has a Persian rescue cat named Dulcie Vita, who loves to visit the residents of Barton Lodge for cuddles.


Jenny’s hobbies include; reading, swimming, arts & crafts, aromatherapy and holistic therapies and she is just learning to knit!

Gavin

Gavin Johnson

Job Title: Maintenance Manager Joined: 2017

Gavin oversees the upkeep of our Home and our wonderful grounds at Barton Lodge. He specialises in landscaping and gardening, which is evident from the beautiful open space we have here. Gavin can turn his hand to just about anything and is a great addition to the team.


In his spare time, Gavin enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children and getting out for walks in the New Forest. He also enjoys boxing and is an avid Manchester United fan.

Wing

Wing

Job Title: Cook Joined: 2023

Kam Wing Wong, known as Wing to everyone, moved with his family from Hong Kong to the UK three years ago, and they couldn't be happier with their decision.


Wing has been working at Barton Lodge since November 2023, and it has been a wonderful experience for him. He takes pride in cooking healthy and delicious meals for the residents and staff.


Wing has a passion for travelling, hiking, and most sports. Exploring the UK with his family is something they all cherish.
