I cannot fault the way my husband has been received by the staff. He has been treated with respect and endless patience at all times. My mind has been set at rest knowing he is cared for and in a safe environment accepting that a loved one needs care is a difficult decision and Beechwood has made the
transition much easier for me. A big thank you to all the staff and management.

It is a wonderful "homely" home with a warm, friendly atmosphere. As a visitor, I'm always treated with as much respect as my friend, the resident. He is happy and extremely well cared for always clean, neat and tidy as are the surroundings. he always says the food is very good. It is obvious the staff
actually care about the people they are looking after. Happy staff is a reflection of good management.

My mother was in the care of Beechwood House for 3 years. During this time she was treated with kindness respect and dignity by all of the staff at Beechwood. The facilities are very good, food at an excellent standard and rooms and premises are kept clean to a high standard. Mum always enjoyed the
activities and entertainment especially the singing and dancing. A lovely home to spend time in.

The care my client received from this home was outstanding. He loved every minute of staying at the home for almost three years. The staff endeavoured to meet his needs wherever possible understanding his psychological and health needs, I would highly recommend it.

Being the first time I have ever entered a nursing home I was very pleasantly surprised at how clean, safe but friendly the home was. We were made to feel very welcome. The manager had good contact with us along with all the nursing staff, we were shown around by the activity coordinator who came across
as being fun and caring and wanting to make the residents happy with activities to suit individuals likes. The room, food and menus looked very homely. The other residents looked clean and happy. There was no horrible smells. My mother-in-law always says she wants to go home but is now saying after a short time she likes it there and would like to stay, well done all.

Superb. From day one, surrounded by warmth, love and care. The dedication shown by all the carers and the superb nursing team has been second to none. We are so blessed that my husband could spend the last stages of his life in such a special place.

Living at home was no longer an option for my dad but after 8 months of dedicated care, Beechwood
House proved to be the next best thing! I cannot praise the staff enough for their care, support, respect, love, hard work, the commitment given and the dignity shown to ensure my dad had the best life
he could under the circumstances due to his poor health. This kindness and care was also extended to our family and especially to my mother who visited my dad daily. Apart from the amazing care, it seems the philosophy of Beechwood House is that it is the resident’s home, so all of the staff do everything possible to encourage a happy family atmosphere.
The family days organised by the home on Valentines Day, Easter and in the summer have been brilliant. There are coffee mornings where all are encouraged to make any suggestions for improvement. The delicious homemade food, the hard work to create the beautiful garden, it doesn’t end there. Beechwood House is a great example of how a care home should be.

I consider my husband is being cared for very well in Beechwood Nursing Home. Management and all the staff are very willing to help with any problem I have and they're good working together, even in difficult periods.
The activities are good and wide-ranging, good stimulation. I can have lunch and
drinks when I choose, food is good and varied. I visit my husband six days a week, it's nice not having to take washing home and lastly, the garden has been lovingly landscaped by one man and is now a mass of colour.

Without exception, staff seem motivated and caring. Staff make genuine attempts to connect with residents with dementia in a way that treats them as individuals rather than merely another patient.
The building itself and the decor is somewhat "tired" and I note that carers often struggle to manoeuvre
residents to and from the bathroom/toilet.

My Mum has been cared for since September in Beechwood House. I couldn't wish for her to have better care. The staff, without exception, are lovely. She has very complex needs now and is looked after by friendly, cheerful nurses and carers. The home is exceptionally clean. The food is very nice, freshly
prepared and with a varied choice. They have activity staff who organize different things every day to keep the residents occupied and motivated. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to anybody who is feeling that the time has come for their relative to receive the full time care that they deserve.

Thank you for the excellent care you provided to my Dad. It was very clear from the team’s interaction with my Dad, that they all deeply cared for him and had taken the time to really get to know him. The home is amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Resident requests are always met with a smile. The
team really made sure that my Dad felt loved happy and safe at all times: warmth just radiates from them all.


Outstanding support and kindness were given to me over the last couple of months of my Dads life. Words cannot describe how difficult it is to watch a loved one ‘fade away’. With the genuine empathy, outstanding care and understanding showed to me, it absolutely meant that a very difficult time was made that much less difficult.


They say everyone has a guardian angel, well my Dad had many and they all reside at Beechwood House

My mother was a resident for 5 months up to the time of her death. From the day she arrived, we found the staff to be very professional, caring and attentive. She was well cared for as her condition deteriorated and needed increasing help with her personal and medical needs. The staff were supportive

I am writing to applaud the staff of Beechwood House for greatly improving the health of my father over the past 6 weeks. He was discharged from the hospital with multiple conditions and quite poorly. However, under their care and diligence, his health and positive demeanour have vastly improved and
we have Dad back. My family are so pleased and grateful to those at Beechwood and their ongoing care for my father. Thank you.

Hayley McGuinness

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2021

After the birth of my daughter in 2007, I decided to pursue a career in healthcare. I began my journey as a carer at Queen Alexandra Hospital, working within the endocrine and complex health ward while attending evening classes to prepare for university. In 2009, I was accepted into Southampton School of Health Sciences, where I earned an advanced diploma in adult nursing. Following my qualification in 2012, I briefly worked in a nursing home before joining the NHS on a preceptorship programme in offender healthcare, based within a prison. I also took on the role of a bank forensic nurse practitioner, providing support to the local police in their custody suites.
Over the course of three years, I gained invaluable experience in crisis management and emergency care, working in a fast-paced and challenging environment. This experience strengthened my clinical skills and prepared me for a return to elderly care. From 2016 to 2019, I progressively advanced through roles from Senior Night Nurse to Clinical Lead and eventually Deputy Manager across two care companies.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was entrusted with the responsibility of acting manager, guiding my team and ensuring the safety of both staff and residents during an unprecedented global health crisis. This experience enhanced my leadership abilities and equipped me with the skills necessary to step into my current role as the registered manager of Beechwood House, a position I have held since January 2021.

Michaela Robson

Job Title: Administrator Joined: 2013

Michaela has worked at beechwood house for 11 years in many different job roles. She initially worked as a Night Care Assistant and studied to gain her NVQ 2 before progressing up the ladder to a senior role. She completed her NVQ 3 course and soon became a great leader and role model to ensure the residents night care needs were met to a high standard.


Michaela now works as the Administrator. She has worked in this role since the summer of 2022. Her deeper understanding of the residents care needs and the demands of the job made her the ideal applicant for this internal job move. She uses her knowledge to underpin her administrative tasks and her pre-existing relationships between both residents and their relatives can continue to develop.
