Look past the ongoing refurbishment and you see a wonderful home, with carers that actually care. After my mothers initial (and understandable) reluctance to move into a nursing home, she is both happy and content. When possible, nothing is too much trouble for both residents and visitors and time is
taken to talk through questions and worries. As a child, I couldn't be happier with the home my mother now lives in.

My father in law has mobility problems and dementia, however, I believe he is experiencing some of the best quality of life ever. He loves the food, he loves the company, he loves the activities and (best of all) HE LOVES THE CUDDLES. The manager has a mature and loving approach to care and all the

My mother in law had dementia and very bad arthritis. Beechwood staff created a home and truly cared for her for the last year of her life, after she was turned out of a supposedly good, dementia care home. The difference was astounding: Beechwood staff are well trained to respect the individual,
their pain and experiences. She was much more content from day one. Of the three care homes she experienced over three years, we rated the two homes where managers were nurses themselves, involved in the care provision.
A positive personal recommendation steered us to Beechwood. The staff seem warm and friendly and they genuinely are: moreover, capable and intelligent about adapting care to needs. Residents' rooms are pleasant, leafy environs, nice garden and varied options for sitting in sunny spaces or enclosed snug TV room.
At the end, the care extended to my husband and myself, and we cannot thank them enough for everything they did to prepare us and help us all through.

The staff genuinely care about the patients and their families to the point where they form an attachment. It's that care that's the most important aspect of nursing care. It's a comfort to families to have the trust and confidence in those caring for our loved ones. I just lost my mother and a member
of staff attended the funeral. The staff there offered me continued support following her passing. You will not find anywhere else where the care is so consistent and heartfelt. You can't put a price on that.

Initial contact with manager and nurse in January 2016 very positive and understanding. A very thorough and professional appraisal took place of patients situation and care home needs including health and medication, along with family contacts and any personal wishes. From day 1 my mother was lovingly
cared for with exceptional understanding and patience.
Every effort was made to keep her dignity. The staff operated as an enthusiastic and happy team and they were all totally involved in the successful running of the home at every level.


This made a happy environment for the many patients where frequent activity created fun and games for many to enjoy. There was an instinctive response from the nurses at spotting patients needing attention and they were incredibly quick at spotting health needs and reacting accordingly. The management of handling dying patients was amazing and made a painful experience easier to bear as they felt the pain too. I would highly recommend this care home.

All the staff are very helpful and friendly and answer all my questions as honestly as possible. Ask my opinion on any changes to medication or care. Notify me immediately any hospital visits or falls in the home.

My father spent a couple of months at Beechwood House receiving palliative care. The staff were extremely supportive. They went out of their way to ensure all family members felt welcome to visit at any time. Staff dealt with my father in a very professional but caring way. Responses to questions were
both sensitive and open, checking first how much we wanted to know.
Our family is very grateful for the way we were all treated.

My dad had been going to Beechwood House for the last couple of years for respite care. He spent the last six months as a permanent reside and was very happy there. He would enjoy the sing-a-long afternoons and the quiz, not mention the wonderful food. All staff showed much affection, respect and great
care to him. He very sadly passed away in May all the family were able to be with him. Every member of staff was exceptional making his last few days comfortable and dignified. They treated him and our family with so much kindness, love and support throughout a very stressful time. I can thoroughly recommend Beechwood House as a very caring and professional home and express sincere thanks to all members of staff.

Mum had to go into nursing home after period in hospital. The staff at Beechwood were very compassionate and kept us informed at all stages of mum's short stay. They were also very caring towards me and my husband (son of residents) They could not have tried harder to get mum over illness, providing
special food when she would not eat etc and contacting doctor at first signs of deterioration. The score for rooms and facilities is only due to the fact the home is in course of refurbishment and from what i saw will be excellent when finished. Sadly mum has passed away but our thanks so to all staff at the home.

From the day we arrived my mum and all us family were made to feel welcome by everyone. The staff quickly got to know mum and all her little ways. They would do anything for her. Beechwood House is in the process of being refurbished- starting on the top floor - mum was on the ground floor where everything
was well used and fairly shabby, however this made no difference to the wonderful care she was given. I am sorry she didn't live long enough to enjoy the garden and warmer weather.

Hayley McGuinness

Job Title: Registered Manager

After the birth of my daughter in 2007, I decided to pursue a career in healthcare. I began my journey as a carer at Queen Alexandra Hospital, working within the endocrine and complex health ward while attending evening classes to prepare for university. In 2009, I was accepted into Southampton School of Health Sciences, where I earned an advanced diploma in adult nursing. Following my qualification in 2012, I briefly worked in a nursing home before joining the NHS on a preceptorship programme in offender healthcare, based within a prison. I also took on the role of a bank forensic nurse practitioner, providing support to the local police in their custody suites.
Over the course of three years, I gained invaluable experience in crisis management and emergency care, working in a fast-paced and challenging environment. This experience strengthened my clinical skills and prepared me for a return to elderly care. From 2016 to 2019, I progressively advanced through roles from Senior Night Nurse to Clinical Lead and eventually Deputy Manager across two care companies.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was entrusted with the responsibility of acting manager, guiding my team and ensuring the safety of both staff and residents during an unprecedented global health crisis. This experience enhanced my leadership abilities and equipped me with the skills necessary to step into my current role as the registered manager of Beechwood House, a position I have held since January 2021.

Michaela Robson

Job Title: Administrator

Joined: 2013

Michaela has worked at beechwood house for 11 years in many different job roles. She initially worked as a Night Care Assistant and studied to gain her NVQ 2 before progressing up the ladder to a senior role. She completed her NVQ 3 course and soon became a great leader and role model to ensure the residents night care needs were met to a high standard.


Michaela now works as the Administrator. She has worked in this role since the summer of 2022. Her deeper understanding of the residents care needs and the demands of the job made her the ideal applicant for this internal job move. She uses her knowledge to underpin her administrative tasks and her pre-existing relationships between both residents and their relatives can continue to develop.
