This made a happy environment for the many patients where frequent activity created fun and games for many to enjoy. There was an instinctive response from the nurses at spotting patients needing attention and they were incredibly quick at spotting health needs and reacting accordingly. The management of handling dying patients was amazing and made a painful experience easier to bear as they felt the pain too. I would highly recommend this care home.

After the birth of my daughter in 2007, I decided to pursue a career in healthcare. I began my journey as a carer at Queen Alexandra Hospital, working within the endocrine and complex health ward while attending evening classes to prepare for university. In 2009, I was accepted into Southampton School of Health Sciences, where I earned an advanced diploma in adult nursing. Following my qualification in 2012, I briefly worked in a nursing home before joining the NHS on a preceptorship programme in offender healthcare, based within a prison. I also took on the role of a bank forensic nurse practitioner, providing support to the local police in their custody suites.
Over the course of three years, I gained invaluable experience in crisis management and emergency care, working in a fast-paced and challenging environment. This experience strengthened my clinical skills and prepared me for a return to elderly care. From 2016 to 2019, I progressively advanced through roles from Senior Night Nurse to Clinical Lead and eventually Deputy Manager across two care companies.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was entrusted with the responsibility of acting manager, guiding my team and ensuring the safety of both staff and residents during an unprecedented global health crisis. This experience enhanced my leadership abilities and equipped me with the skills necessary to step into my current role as the registered manager of Beechwood House, a position I have held since January 2021.

Michaela has worked at beechwood house for 11 years in many different job roles. She initially worked as a Night Care Assistant and studied to gain her NVQ 2 before progressing up the ladder to a senior role. She completed her NVQ 3 course and soon became a great leader and role model to ensure the residents night care needs were met to a high standard.
Michaela now works as the Administrator. She has worked in this role since the summer of 2022. Her deeper understanding of the residents care needs and the demands of the job made her the ideal applicant for this internal job move. She uses her knowledge to underpin her administrative tasks and her pre-existing relationships between both residents and their relatives can continue to develop.
