Emilie is our Home Manager at East Hill House, here’s a little bit more about herself and the home in her own words:
“I joined East Hill House four and half years ago as a domestic help. I then moved into the laundry, then the activities and wellbeing team, before becoming the home coordinator. I have recently taken on the role of Home Manager at East Hill House and feel my experience of different aspects of the home places me in a great position to lead the team here.
I love to be involved with the activities and events that we hold at East Hill House, as the best part of the job is my residents. Being with them and interacting in a meaningful way and supporting my team, which is a ‘good bunch’.
I love the local area. There are plenty of dementia-friendly activities happening, including walking football on Mondays and a dementia choir that our residents are involved in.”
From supporting the care team to writing and reviewing care plans, I support the home manager with a range of daily tasks. What I love most about my job is the residents, learning new skills, and gaining more experience to be the best for my residents, colleagues, and myself.
I organise tailored activities to the needs and abilities of our residents, ensuring they are person-centred to each individual. My role is incredibly fulfilling, the role goes beyond simply arranging activities, it can provide our residents with social interaction, exercise, and a sense of inclusion.
As the home’s administrator, I ensure the smooth running of the home and welcome visitors. I love the variety of my role, working as part of a happy, close-knit team, meeting relatives and residents, and supporting new staff.
