My father-in-law has been in the home for about 4 months, his physical health seems to have improved and we put that down the good diet he gets fed. The home offers a choice of meals to the residents and they do this by actually showing them the choice, not from a tick list in the morning. The staff
are extremely helpful and ensure that individual residents get the care they require, in our case he is a lover of football so they make sure he sees the matches on TV. Covid has had a negative impact on the entertainment the home can offer but he has thoroughly enjoyed the events when available. To the question "How likely are you to recommend" I have replied "Don't know". This should not be taken as a negative, the care of a relative is a personal thing, needs vary so please go and talk to the home, visit if Covid rules allow and then make your mind up.
I have had to talk with the finance department in Portland and I have also found them extremely friendly and helpful.

The care from the staff is excellent especially during Covid19. I have had to telephone as I live 200 miles away. They always pass messages on and telephone me to let me know how he is doing. He lived alone before now he has friends and is being looked after. I cannot say how impressed I am with this
care home.

My mother moved in around October 2020 and from the point of meeting and greeting on the initial assessment the management and staffing team have been amazing. They are looking after my mum exceptionally well and I am very impressed with their caring, professional ways, nothing is to much trouble when
you ring they also keep me informed of what is happening with my mother at all times either by telephoning or information and updates within the home has been posted to me. It has been a awful time with the pandemic but I feel very reassured that my mum is in the best home and is being cared for with respect dignity that she deserves.
As a family we just want to say a hugh thank-you to everyone at Cordelia House for all you are doing we are so thankful that Mum has found her forever home.

My mum entered Cordelia House during Covid 19. I have not been able to go into the home, other than via the 'pod' visits so I cannot comment on the facilities inside the house other than the one room I've seen. My review relates to my contact with staff before my mum's residency, during 'pod' visits
and my subsequent telephone/email contact.

Everyone has been very supportive of my mum and her individual needs and she is very well cared for. It was difficult for me to go from being 'sole carer' to handing over completely to the staff at Cordelia House but, all my questions have been answered and everyone has gone above and beyond to make this very difficult transition more bearable. I have always been made to feel very comfortable about asking questions and have always been actively encouraged to phone or email at any time if there is anything I wished to know.

I would highly recommend Cordelia House. The staff are open, caring and very approachable.

My Mother has been a resident of Cordelia House in Fareham for the past six years. I had previously submitted a review of this home some years ago under the home's previous name of Farehaven Lodge. The review was not very complimentary. I must say that there has been a distinct improvement in all aspects
of the home since Agincare took over the management. The decor has been considerably brightened up and the quality of the food has improved, just to mention two obvious improvements. These improvements and others that are ongoing, have been made against a background of lockdowns and all the problems associated with Covid-19. Now the 'meeting hub' is on-line, residents can now see and hear their relatives without the fear of infection. I must also praise the manager who keeps us relatives informed about events in the home and holds periodic meetings (now by MS Teams) with relatives.

From the interview and first visit, the home felt so welcoming and homely - so much it brought tears to my eyes in relief, as I was unsure what to expect. The home and staff/management have not only made my mum's move so smooth and welcoming, but also helped me as I live a distance away, with keeping
me updated on Mum's progress and wellbeing. I could not have asked for a better home for my mum and would highly recommend.

I would highly recommend this care home. My mother is treated with kindness and compassion and the home is run professionally with individual attention to personal needs. I am most impressed with the daily activities that stimulate the residents and the relationships between the staff and my mother.
The home keep me informed of any changes immediately, which gives me confidence in the care my mother is receiving.

The health care workers at Cordelia House are friendly and caring, but as with all care homes, they need more staff. The resident's personal care could be improved eg hand washing, brushing hair and ensuring they get their own clothes back after being in the laundry. Overall standard was good. My father-in-law
was treated with kindness and respect. Facilities are being updated by the new owners so that is a positive. A suggestion of a sensory room with music for dementia patients would be a good addition to the home. The management organise daily activities and visiting animals for the residents and Christmas/Halloween/Easter parties which we enjoyed attending last year. All the best for the future Cordelia House.

When my father joined Cordelia he was very unwell, no appetite and losing weight drastically.
Seven months on, with the perseverance of care staff, he has gained weight, tucks into his meals and is very content. The staff have been very patient and understanding.

I find the staff in Cordelia House very friendly, caring and supportive and pleased how they care for my husband. The hand devices that are used now to keep a check on everyone's welfare is such a wonderful idea, ensuring nothing gets missed. There are good meals provided, lovely home cooking always
enjoyed. The home is currently being updated and I am looking forward to seeing the result once finished. I have only one criticism and that is that I find the armchair too low.

My God-mother was bereaved at the end of April and came to you for respite initially. She had dementia and even taking her health and bereavement into account, she has settled well into your care home. She and I are very impressed with the cheerful, helpful, caring staff and the entertainment there.
When asked if she would like to be a permanent resident with you, she did not hesitate to stay yes and that she enjoyed the company of other residents also.
The staff have been very supportive to me also. Helping me to work through the paperwork and changes for my God-mother.

I was very on edge when my brother was admitted but soon realised it was the very best for him. If anything he has improved - always seems happy, even after I've taken him out. He never minds going back 'home'. Staff are lovely to him and me - they will joke with him which he enjoys and he jokes with
them. They are all - even the 'odd job man' - so kind to him. I could not expect better care.

I am pleased to be able to pass on my experience. My mother has Parkinson's and hasn't been long at Farehaven, a new experience for her and us. The manager is very approachable and answers any concerns. The staff around the home in my judgement are wonderful and caring, they have managed to get mum

The atmosphere is very welcoming. It is so good to know she is being cared for so well and makes it easier for us.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.396)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.396) out of 10 for Cordelia House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.821 for Cordelia House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.821
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.575 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cordelia House Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.875
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
