Forest Edge has consistently and compassionately looked after both my mum and until 18 months ago my dad. They are kind, thoughtful and understanding. They give my mum who has end Alzheimer’s choices and control over her life and care. They allow her the freedom to live as independently as she can while keeping her safe. We are kept informed of her care via calls and emails and are welcomed to visit without the need to make an appointment at any time. The only downside is the fabric of the building could do with some updating and care but the residents don’t seem to notice!

Thank you for your feedback.

We appreciate that it can be difficult to rate activities if these do not fall during the time of a visit, or cannot be discussed with your loved one. We have activity planners in the communal areas, as well as photos on our photo boards in the communal areas so that...

I am extremely happy with the care provided for my nan at Forest Edge. She is always well-presented and has high-quality personal care. Although she cannot remember me anymore she seems to have good bonds with her caregivers.

My mother seems happy and content at the home and well looked after, the staff are very friendly and helpful with her. Can’t say much about the home as only been in her room but what we’ve seen looks clean and comfortable

Mum has been in the care of Forest Edge since April, took a while to settle but is now happy.
The staff are always friendly and polite, face to face and on the telephone.
Covid protocols mean all visits are in a designated room with access to a tidy and pleasant garden with lots of seating, so unable to comment on communal areas or her own room.
From the outside the home is bright and welcoming and I know talking to mum there is good housekeeping and laundry routines.

I know mum is safe and well looked after.

Mum has been in Forest Edge Care Home since December 2021 unfortunately amidst the pandemic and covid rules. It has been a very unsettling time especially when visiting is restricted to the garden or a small visitor's room. We have not been in the home so I am unable to make comment about that. But the staff are very caring and understanding as I see when visiting Mum. Also very patient staff. She always looks well cared for, clean and dressed. She has her hair done by the hairdresser and her feet by a podiatrist. Unfortunately, the home still insists on gloves, apron and mask even on visiting in the garden, this is totally unnecessary and a waste of PPE! I would recommend Forest Edge Care Home, Mum was in several care homes prior to this home and they were unable to cope with her and provide care to her specific needs. Forest Edge have shown a holistic approach when caring for Mum and are doing a good job. I am thankful to all involved in her care. As it is very upsetting for Mum with Dementia.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to submit a review.
I am really pleased at all of the positive things you have said. It really does mean a lot when we hear these sorts of things.

The things you have mentioned around Covid and PPE are measures we are taking to protect all of our staff,...

Well I must say that they are all lovely people there and the staff and the management are very courteous and polite. I look after my partner for a period of 7 years before she was diagnosed with dementia in 2018 and I was not able to manage/cope. My partner has now been in Forest Edge for a total of two years and I know they are looking after her and that she is in the best place. I know for a fact that the home has been coping with Covid absolutely rigorously and I test every time I go there to take my partner out. I would congratulate them on their efforts to look after my partner and all the other residents. Thank you to all.

I think Forest Edge Care Home is excellent. They are very caring and treat people in their care with the greatest respect. The variety of food they serve cannot be faulted. Their rooms are very tidy and toilet requirements are taken care of.

Mum had to go into a home when her dementia became unmanageable. Considering we weren't able to look around the property because of Covid, we couldn't have made a better choice. We had issues with the CQC report, which were answered honestly and positively by the manager. Mum hasn't looked this well in a long time. The staff are wonderful, so patient and caring. Many of them are young, and the patience they demonstrate with the residents is admirable. I would not hesitate to recommend Forest Edge.

Mum has been with Forest Edge for 10 months and in that time I have found staff helpful, polite and caring. I had many questions in respect of Mum going into long term care and staff have taken the time to carefully and sympathetically explain things and give reassurances. I have been able to speak to Mum regularly on the telephone and on occasion, I have given feedback to staff which has been both acted upon and monitored. I have indeed been encouraged to express thoughts or views in respect of Mum's care and well-being. Forest Edge has a very friendly atmosphere and a homely environment. Mum's room, although small, is kept very clean as are all the public areas I have seen. Her lunchtime meal is varied and nutritional and Mum looks forward to that each day. Mum has had some minor health concerns but in the main these have been addressed promptly. To sum up, I feel that Forest Edge treat Mum with kindness, dignity and respect and that she is being well cared for at present.

I have always found the staff welcoming and supportive. A happy and friendly environment and a good to high level of care. All residents are given a choice of menu and where possible all tastes and diets are well catered for.

I found the home was extremely well managed. Mum's choices were always honoured. She was treated with dignity at all times. The home's housekeeping routines ensured Mum's room was clean and tidy throughout the day and her personal clothing was carefully laundered and returned to her daily.
Mum's specialist diet was maintained by the chief who discussed her menu with both Mum and family members who were aware of her favourite dishes. The local G.P. and health services regularly visited Mum and access to these services was promptly provided when required.
All members of staff maintained an excellent relationship with Mum and continually checked in on her for a chat making sure she had all she needed. Continuous care was provided throughout Mum's final days and she was treated with both dignity and care at all times.

I would recommend this home to family members and can not fault the level of expertise shown by both the management team and all staff members involved in Mum's care.

Mum was very happy at Forest Edge and thought of the staff as family. Her stay was only a few months as her dementia progressed quickly but the care she received was excellent and preserved her dignity at all times. The compassion shown in her last days was wonderful, helped by the close links with the local surgery.

The home is clean but not clinical, making it a real home. Mum enjoyed the activities and the routines of the home. Our only regret is we didn't access it earlier.

Forest Edge is one of the cleanest - maybe spotless - care homes I have ever visited over the past few years. Even after meals, the staff clean up within seconds making the home a joy to visit (and a welcome change from many places I have been).

Mother has been a resident now for quite a few months, she loves Forest Edge and all the staff. They all work very hard!! A lovely, safe, clean environment. The meals are freshly cooked and presentation is of a high standard. You are always greeted with a smile on arrival visit, most people would worry where their relatives are going and what sort of care home it is, but let me reassure anyone who is looking for a place, "Forest Edge" has everything you and your loved one would expect from a care home.

The manager has a great team of staff who all work together and that is what I call excellent team building. Well done!!! Keep it up.

P.s. (A well brewed tea and plenty of milk, thank you)

We were concerned when mother could no longer be at home and needed residential care, not least because of her dementia, she believed she could cope okay.
We were supported at every step of the way by the management who welcomed my mother and demonstrated patience even before she arrived. The home was always clean and smart, not at all institutional and always appeared fully staffed.
I was concerned how mother would cope with the daily activities, as she had been living alone and isolated for 10 years, she was well supported and activities were geared to the ability and capacity of residents.
What impressed me most was the care shown by the care workers, who met every need with a smile. They looked in to check how mother was in a warm and friendly way even if on duties elsewhere, visitors and family were always welcome.

Healthcare is well provided by local the GP practice and the nursing team. When the time came, care plans were sensitively discussed and implemented in an accommodating manner.

After initial "teething" problems which were soon sorted out, I felt that my husband was settling in quickly. The staff are always ready to listen and answer any of my concerns and are always present around the residents and interacting with them.

The home is clean and the lounges fairly big and light so there is plenty of room for the residents to sit where they wish.

Welcoming, warm and friendly to both my mother and my husband and I. Clean, bright environment. Clearly lots of entertainment and activities for my mother to join in with and giving her a photograph of her dancing with one of the staff was a lovely touch! It helped us talk to her about her few days respite. We will most definitely ask for my mother to be placed there again. Mother also said she loved the food!
