I have been so impressed with the kindness and care of the staff. They have been so helpful during the lockdown and have accommodated our regular phone calls, behind the screen visits and now the visits in the room. It feels very safe, Covid test, forms filled and PPE before anyone can enter the premises.
It has been a joy to see mum looking so happy and well. Thank you to the manager and her wonderful staff.

Hazeldene team have taken wonderful care of my late dad and now caring for my mum.
The team are so hardworking and are so patient and kind to its residents and always ensuring the residents' dignity. Although this lockdown has been unbearable, keeping us from our loved ones, I always knew that Mum
was receiving the best care as she is always happy and joins in the many activities, so this made being apart a lot easier. The team have done a marvellous job keeping covid out of the care home and being a family while we are unable to visit.

All the staff at Hazeldene Residential Care Home are polite and helpful. My mother informs me that she is being cared for nicely. She also says that the food is good.
The staff always keep me informed of any changes to routines or in my mother's condition. I have peace of mind that my mother is being
looked after and treated well.

My 95-year-old mother moved to the home during the lockdown following a nasty fall at home and after we agreed I could no longer keep her safe at home, on my own.
As a recently retired older person's mental health nursing professional/ senior manager for day hospital/inpatient/community services and
trust lead serious incident investigator/trainer; you may understand I found the process of having to 'give up' caring for mum extremely difficult and distressing. However, the team at Hazeldene have made this transition for mum and me as easy as it could possibly be; offering the highest level of individual care, compassion and support for both of us. I now know we made the decision, (as difficult and upsetting as it was) at just the right time. Mum is settled, really enjoying life and 'blossoming' in the excellent individual care of the Hazeldene team. She is even showing great improvements in her mobility, which I couldn't be happier about. To say I have been impressed is, to put it mildly - I would describe mum's move as 'seamless' and her care as 'individual' which both of us are highly appreciative of.

Excellent home, it delivers a very high standard of care. Staff are wonderful. My mother loves it there. The activities are outstanding, it's a wonderful therapy. My mother communicates through the experience of having these. It is just wonderful. My mother is happy and smiles a lot since being there.
She has been there over a year and is living a happy life there, excellent for 98 years of age.

I have nothing but gratitude and appreciation of our brief experience.
My mum was in the later stages of dementia. The wonderful staff, through love, dedication and experience, managed to bring out a quality and dignity of life for my mum's last few months.
Under lockdown rules, communication was
always an available two-way thing. When she was unwell, I know they did everything possible, I felt, the residents are priority and I was kept up to date with sensitivity and kindness.

Mum was fiercely independent, and it was a struggle to convince her to move into a care home. She settled very quickly, however, and valued being "in company". She joined in the activities enthusiastically. The care she received was thoughtful and friendly. The administration was most efficient.

This care home has taken care of my sister to an excellent standard. There is truly a 'family home' feel to this place, so much love and attention lavished on all residents without exception. Nothing is too much trouble - everyone has individual talks with staff. All clean and organised. No loneliness.
I'd recommend this to everybody - very efficient.

My only complaint is, there is nothing to complain about. The home is warm, friendly and caring. The staff have endless patience and I am very lucky to be here.
There are activities both physical and mentally to keep people happy. The manager and her staff deserve a pat on the back.

Hazeldene is a caring home. My Mum has been resident for 3 years and feels safe and is very content there. The staff are wonderful and Mum is gently encouraged (but never made) to take part in the activities. It is clean and the meals are very good and Mum can choose her meal for the next day. Visitors
are always welcome. There have been some improvements to the building for safety reasons which are beneficial too. Mum is treated with dignity, respect and friendliness.

All the staff at Hazeldene were amazing with my dear grandma, and especially when she recently received end of life care. Dementia is an evil illness, but thanks to Hazeldene, Grandma’s final years, weeks and days were made more dignified and bearable by the care and compassion of Hazeldene. Thank you

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.652)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.652) out of 10 for Hazeldene Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.827 for Hazeldene Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (130 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 156 Ratings = 4.827
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.825 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hazeldene Residential Care Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 13 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
