Hunters Lodge offers specialist dementia care in Fareham, combining expert and tailored care packages with a comprehensive activities programme in order to support a satisfying daily lifestyle.

Hunters Lodge has a variety of different communal spaces which are all bright and airy. Most of the seating offers views of the extensive gardens. The gardener at Hunters Lodge keeps the grounds colourful and seasonal, and with raised planting beds residents can enjoy getting involved if they wish. The garden is both secluded and level making it wheelchair friendly.

Regular relatives' and residents' meetings are held and their opinions and ideas are both valued and welcomed. Staff never forget that each resident is an individual with likes and preferences and deserves respect at all time.

Hunters Lodge continues to provide excellent care for my mother. She is treated with respect and patience by all the staff who are friendly and willing. Their handling of my mother is consistently gentle and caring. The quality of the food (and quantity) is very high and prepared by dedicated kitchen
staff. My mothers family members are always made very welcome and made to feel valued.

A truly family oriented home for the elderly, where their care is paramount in everything they do. Well balanced home cooked meals which I have partaken in and enjoyed. All staff are polite, considerate and friendly to all residents and family members. I was always welcomed with a friendly chat either
when I was there in person or over the phone. A 5 star home.

My mother spent the last few years of a very long life here and could not have received better care. She was throughout treated with love, tenderness and dignity. This is a well-run care home where the high standards of care are set by the management and carried out by all the staff. I would not hesitate
to recommend this care home to others.

Hunters Lodge has been a wonderful way for Mum to spend the last two and half years of her life.


The Management have been empathetic, capable, kind and fully supportive of Mums needs practically and 'especially' emotionally. The staff, which includes cleaning and kitchen, are the heart of Hunters

Lodge. Respectful, caring, with nothing being too much trouble. Always happy and on hand to help Mum with her needs.


Hunters Lodge is clean, tidy and well designed. Mum was asked what she enjoyed before she moved in and her room was designed around her wishes. The food is amazing and I was able to have an enjoyable lunch with Mum occasionally.


This is a Home to which anyone would be welcomed warmly to live in or visit. My family and I were extremely happy and grateful for our Mums fantastic care and would highly recommend to anybody.

Hunters Lodge provides a safe and secure environment for people with dementia. The place is always clean - bedrooms and corridors as well as the area seen by visitors. The meals provided are home cooked and quite amazing.


I moved my mum here after 20 months in a previous home that caused her anxiety

by not locking bedroom doors. She has now been at Hunters Lodge for over two years. The staff are very caring and patient with excellent humour involved to deal with can sometimes be difficult decisions.


I would recommend this home to anyone. The management are always looking for ways to improve. I leave mum here knowing that I don't have to worry. It's an hours drive away and if I don't get down at a weekend it isn't the end of the world. She will still be cared for in the way you would expect.

Some 25 years ago I acted as a volunteer driver for ambulance care service which brought me into contact with many care and nursing homes although not this one. Some were good others extremely the opposite. When my daughter and I reviewed this one we immediately placed my sister-in-laws name on the
waiting list. When the vacancy arose we jumped at the chance and have never regretted it. All of the staff from the owners to the kitchen and cleaning operatives treat inmates and visitors with a friendly greeting. I suspect that a number of their staff have been on the books for some time and I can see why.

The whole staff group (including cooks and cleaners) are properly trained, properly supervised and properly supported by a senior management team which understands elderly people who can no longer live independently. This is evident in their careful and respectful attitude/ behaviour towards residents
and the willing participation of non-care staff in the wider fringes of care. Also, relatives and friends of residents are made very welcome and considered "part of the family". This together with a whole raft of input by committed and informed external parties, creates a quality environment where residents can experience variety, humour and appropriate challenges.

Laura

Laura Boyd

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2022

Laura began her journey at Hunters Lodge in 2008 as a care assistant, working her way up to Senior Care Assistant before becoming Head of Care. In 2016, she pursued a management role in a 70-bed care home, further expanding her experience in the sector.


In October 2021, Laura embraced motherhood, and after her maternity leave, she returned to Hunters Lodge in July 2022 as Deputy Manager. Although she is a qualified Social Worker, her true passion lies in the care sector.


Recently, in January 2025, Laura achieved a significant milestone by being promoted to Registered Manager of Hunters Lodge—an incredible accomplishment!

Jackie

Jackie Farmer

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2010

Jackie began her career at Hunters Lodge in 2010 as a care assistant. Over time, she progressed through the ranks, becoming a senior, then a team leader, and is now the Head of Care. Jackie’s role is diverse, balancing both administrative tasks and hands-on care and supervision.


Passionate about her work, she is committed to ensuring the highest quality of care for the residents. In recognition of her dedication, Jackie was recently promoted to Deputy Manager at the end of 2024, working alongside Alex Taylor.

Alex

Alex Taylor

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2021

Alex joined Hunters Lodge in 2021 as a Night Senior and later transitioned to a Day Senior role. She is currently working towards her NVQ Level 5 and has developed into a team-leading role, taking on additional responsibilities such as Infection and Prevention Lead, ward round duties with external professionals, care planning, and auditing.


Her role is diverse, involving both administrative tasks and hands-on care and supervision. Alex is deeply passionate about ensuring the highest quality of care for the residents. In recognition of her dedication, Alex was recently promoted to Deputy Manager at the end of 2024, working alongside Jackie Farmer.

Kelly

Kelly Hardman

Job Title: Client Liaison Officer Joined: 2002

Kelly joined Hunters Lodge in 2002 as a care assistant, a role she dedicated herself to for 13 years before progressing to a senior position. From there, she played a key role in establishing the Head of Care position.


After completing her Level 5 Leadership and Management Award, Kelly advanced to Deputy Manager, working closely alongside the management team. Over time, she further developed her expertise and transitioned into a Client Liaison role, where she now focuses exclusively on supporting admissions and handling enquiries for the care home.

Matt

Matt Wood

Job Title: Facilities Manager Joined: 2016

Matt began his journey at the home in 2016 as a Senior Carer, bringing compassion and dedication to his role. His commitment and leadership skills led him to step up as Head of Care, covering a maternity leave and gaining valuable experience in care management.


When a position opened up in the Maintenance team, Matt saw an opportunity to take his career in a new direction. He successfully transitioned into the role and has since progressed to become the Facilities Manager.


In his current role, Matt is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the building, including Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Health & Safety. He takes great pride in ensuring that the home is a safe, clean, well-maintained, and welcoming environment.


Matt’s goal is to create a space where residents and their families feel happy, comfortable, and confident in the care and surroundings provided.

Holly

Holly Dix

Job Title: Team Leader Joined: 2017

Holly began working at Hunters Lodge in 2017 as a night care assistant. After six months, she was promoted to the role of night senior. In 2019, she left the position due to family commitments. She returned to Hunters Lodge in January 2021 as a Band 2 care assistant on day shifts and was soon offered a senior position.


In October 2024, Holly was promoted to team leader, a role she currently holds. In this position, she is responsible for leading the shift and ensuring that residents receive the highest standard of care.


Additionally, in August 2024, Holly began supporting the facilities manager with administrative tasks for the housekeeping team. This role includes responsibilities such as rota management, stock ordering, and conducting infection control, handwashing, and mattress audits.

Georgia

Georgia Bettam

Job Title: Team Leader Joined: 2022

Georgia began working at Hunter’s Lodge in 2022 as a Band 2 Care Assistant. During her time in this role, she successfully completed her Level 3 NVQ and progressed to the position of Senior Carer. She has since advanced to the role of Team Leader and is currently working towards her Level 5 NVQ. In her current role, Georgia is responsible for completing care planning and review tasks, overseeing medication management—including ordering, stock checking, and administering medication—and carrying out audits for RESTORE2 and other areas of care to ensure high standards are maintained throughout the service.

Bridget

Bridget Cooke

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2014

Bridget has proudly served as the Head Chef at Hunters Lodge for the past 11 years. With a deep passion for preparing fresh, nutritious meals, she is dedicated to ensuring every resident and their loved ones enjoy high-quality, home-cooked food.


Bridget particularly enjoys involving residents in the cooking experience through the popular cooking classes held at the home, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere for everyone. She also leads in-house food safety training, helping staff maintain the highest standards to keep both themselves and the residents safe.


Her commitment to excellence and love for her craft shine through in every dish she prepares.

Jodie

Jodie Bradbury

Job Title: Activities Assistant Joined: 2020

Jodie began her journey at Hunters Lodge in 2020, starting out as a carer. Over the years, she has shown dedication, compassion, and a genuine commitment to enhancing the lives of residents. In 2023, she transitioned into her current role as an Activities Assistant, where her enthusiasm and creativity truly shine.


Alongside her main roles, Jodie has also been a helping hand in the kitchen, always ready to support the team wherever needed. She holds an NVQ Level 3 and has completed various activities training courses, further strengthening her ability to plan and deliver engaging, meaningful sessions for residents.


For Jodie, the heart of the job is simple: “As long as the residents are smiling and happy, it makes a happy home.” That warmth and positivity are what make Hunters Lodge feel like one big family – staff, residents, and family members all included.
