Dating from Victorian times, Croft Manor is a splendid brick built 'villa', set back from the road situated close to the town centre. It provides excellent 24-hour care for up to 28 elderly residents, many with a variety of needs.

There are 26 bedrooms over two floors, served by a passenger lift. Of these, 24 are for single occupancy whilst all the bedrooms have their own private toilet facilities.

The home offers two lounges, one being a designated “quiet” lounge. In addition, there is a large dining area that overlooks the gardens, for all to sit and enjoy the wonderful home cooked meals, served throughout the day.

The mature gardens are a particular feature, laid to lawn with various shrubs and trees, designed for all residents to enjoy when the weather allows.

Lastly, a large car park offers ease for visiting relatives and friends.

Mum has been at Croft Manor for over 6 years. In this time, she has been looked after with great care. When I ask her if she is happy, she always says yes. The staff are very friendly and kind. The rooms are always clean and tidy. The food is good. I am glad my mum is settled here.

I have been visiting a resident at Croft Manor regularly for the past year and have found the staff, without exception, to be welcoming. I have observed the staff attitudes and interaction with residents and have only seen incredible positivity and kindness displayed. Whatever a resident requests, the
response from staff seems calm. In the past year, there has been a change of manager. The present manager is very approachable and professional. I would recommend this home.

Mum has been at Croft Manor for about a year now and both myself and my Brother have been more than happy with the level of care Mum has received.
All of the staff treat Mum with care and respect and go the extra mile to make sure she is well cared for.
On several occasions I have arrived unannounced
around mealtimes and been offered the opportunity to sit with Mum and have a meal with her which is great and the food has always been very good.
There are activities arranged for the residents every day and also family activities arranged (a family breakfast brunch was done recently which was excellent) so everyone can get involved and interact with the whole team.
We are so happy that we were given the opportunity for Mum to live at Croft Manor as this has given us as a family peace of mind knowing Mum is being well looked after.

Mum has been in the care home since July 2025 & I cannot fault the care mum is given. Everyone, from cleaner, support staff, carer, catering, management etc. When mum came in she hardly ate any food, but now has a healthy appetite. She joins in the activities, when she can. The other day,the care home
did brunch for the residents & their families, this was brilliant.

I would have entered good for Overall Experience and Management because when Mum first went into the home it was at a period of change. Now it is excellent for all categories. Every member of staff has shown my mother the greatest respect and nothing is too much trouble. This also extends to us as family
members. Cannot praise the staff enough. My mum is happier now than she has been for a long time.

Staff are polite and always greet you. Food seems the same all the time, e.g., ice cream daily, no alternative.
Reply from Joanne Cox, Manager at Croft Manor Residential Care HomeHi, thank you very much for taking the time to write a review. I am pleased you find the staff at Croft Manor polite and friendly.
I am also sorry to hear you mention no alternatives to food and only ice cream on the menu. Croft Manor runs 4 weeks of menus, which are changed for Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter and with resident input. All residents are asked on a daily basis what they would like for their breakfast, lunch and supper. Each meal has at least 2 alternatives to the main option. Ice Cream is rarely on the menu as a stand alone pudding, but can be requested as a further additional alternative. I note also the value for money, I am unsure how this can be completed when fees are paid by Local Authority and in this instance, the room provided is a large garden room, with a private patio area, which is not usually a room we provide as funded.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My brother needed to be looked after in a Care home back in November 2024 and Croft Manor was proposed to us as a possible option.
The manager was brilliant in swiftly assessing my brother and offered a room, which they would refurbish before he arrived. A couple of weeks later he arrived into his
freshly decorated spacious room.
My brother has settled in so well into his new home, where he has a great relationship with the staff and loves the food. He is healthier than he has been in a very long time, with excellent care ensuring he has his medication alongside tasty food and exercises. The home staff take him regularly out into the town which has improved his confidence and mobility.
When asked last visit if he was happy he voted 10 out 10!
And I am really happy knowing he is happy.
Reply from Joanne Cox, Manager at Croft Manor Residential Care HomeThan you Richard for taking the time to review Croft Manor Care Home. I know how difficult it was for your brother having to come into a care home, a decision that he did not make himself. However, since he has been at Croft, he has settled well, enjoys his weekly trips out and the regular visits by staff. It has been a pleasure getting to know him and the support we have received from yourself in making the transition as smooth as possible has been great - thank you again.

My husband was a resident at Croft Manor Care Home for the last six months of his life and he received the best care I could have wanted. I was allowed to visit at any time and was always kept up to date regarding any problems and any suggestions I put forward to help him were acted on swiftly. I was
allowed to stay with him 24 hours a day for the last few days of his life. The food was excellent and tailored to residents' individual needs. All of the carers were extremely kind both to my husband and myself and very professional in their work. I would highly recommend this home.

Overall, Croft Manor is a good care home, very understanding and caring staff, good food, clean and the surroundings are lovely. Communication between care home and family on medical and health issues could be improved. One bugbear is even though Mum's clothes are labelled, every time we go in she has
someone else’s clothes on, her clothes and underwear are nowhere to be seen, we spend a lot of money getting lovely clothes for her to find they’ve disappeared or someone else is wearing them, so whoever does the laundry needs to be on top of this, how hard can it be to read a label and put it in the right pile! Management are always happy to chat and help with any problem and to make things as easy as possible whatever the issue is. All the carers that work here are kind, caring and lovely, Mum is very happy here.
Reply from Samantha Thorne, Manager at Croft Manor Residential Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. It is a pleasure looking after Mum and we are glad she is happy here with us at Croft Manor. Thank you for raising your concerns with us. We are now in the process of hiring a full time laundry assistant to rectify these issues.

My partner and I chose Croft Manor for my uncle. We needed to find an alternative care home for him because the funding was discontinued for his previous nursing home placement. I was happy with the CQC report, the food hygiene rating and previous reviews. We liked the architecture of the building.
His room was freshly decorated, with a new sink, carpet, furniture and TV. It already had an ensuite toilet. The managers are very friendly and the registered manager visited my uncle to complete an assessment which was very positive. I have received positive feedback from both my uncle and the home who are both happy. I have visited my uncle on a number of occasions and am always made welcome.

My lovely Dad moved to Croft Manor Care Home in July, when his dementia became too much for Mum. Sadly due to Covid-19 restrictions visiting was limited to only a few in the garden. Dad sadly passed away after 3 months. We as a family were very happy with Dad's care, the staff are all so friendly and
caring, due to the lack of visiting they answered all of our many questions over the telephone with empathy and kindness. Lovely home with great caring staff. I cannot comment on facilities or activities as due to Covid-19 restrictions we could not enter the building.

I visited Croft Manor weekly almost without exception for 2yrs 3months - 2018 was erratic due to personal reasons. My day for visiting varied greatly but on no occasion did I find the home or her room dirty or unsafe.
The staff were extremely efficient, friendly and supportive of any need.
The food
was varied and of a high quality. In difficult times they do an amazing job. I would recommend them in an instant.

Mum has now been at Croft Manor for almost 3 years and since my last review over a year ago she has declined due to the progression of the dementia.
However, the care she has received is second to none and has been adapted to suit her needs.
The staff are amazing from the management to the maintenance,
the food and the cleanliness cannot be faulted in any way.

I would and have already recommended Croft Manor to other families.

My husband suffers from Parkinson's, after caring for him for 8 years I was finding it hard and was not coping very well.
Croft Manor was suggested as a home where my husband would be happy and would be very well looked after. We visited the home and were greeted by the friendly staff. There was a
warm, homely atmosphere throughout the home and my husband has settled in very well. Thank you to you all at Croft Manor.

This is my up to date review. Nothing has changed my original opinion of Croft Manor. My mother is very contented in the home. Mealtimes are looked forward to, as the food is first class. I would recommend this home to anyone, it is so homely. Visitors are welcomed by the friendly staff. A hairdresser

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.302)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.302) out of 10 for Croft Manor Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.702 for Croft Manor Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.702
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Croft Manor Residential Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
