Dating from Victorian times, Croft Manor is a splendid brick built 'villa', set back from the road situated close to the town centre. It provides excellent 24-hour care for up to 28 elderly residents, many with a variety of needs.

There are 26 bedrooms over two floors, served by a passenger lift. Of these, 24 are for single occupancy whilst all the bedrooms have their own private toilet facilities.

The home offers two lounges, one being a designated “quiet” lounge. In addition, there is a large dining area that overlooks the gardens, for all to sit and enjoy the wonderful home cooked meals, served throughout the day.

The mature gardens are a particular feature, laid to lawn with various shrubs and trees, designed for all residents to enjoy when the weather allows.

Lastly, a large car park offers ease for visiting relatives and friends.

My mother has been a resident of Croft Manor now since June 2017 and despite her advanced years and having a long-term illness, is still able to enjoy an excellent quality of life with the thoughtful care and treatment received. We have found over the months all of the staff extremely competent and
approachable, enabling us to develop a sound relationship with them. The quality of catering, care and support is second to none and we can always rely on a prompt update if there are any issues with Mum's health and well being, that are not run of the mill. I am really pleased that I chose this particular care home for her, and have every confidence in their continuing ability to look after my mother.

My mum and dad have lived here for 3 years. Mum has received excellent care and support to help her cope with dad's recent death. The home has a comfortable, traditional feel to it and it's within easy wheelchair access to shops, cafes and pubs.
Most of the Carers have been there over the 3 years,
providing personal, consistent care. Whenever medical care is needed the staff arrange it quickly and keep me informed of any incidents. Overall, I am very satisfied with the care provided for my parents.

The stressful and upsetting experience of having to move my mother into full-time care was made so much easier by the professional and caring personnel at Croft Manor Residential Care Home, they could not have been more helpful or kind. This kindness also extends to whoever this family visits, when
a warm welcome is always received at any time of the day with the offer of a cup of tea. This welcoming atmosphere instils a confidence that she is in safe hands and will always be cared for.

My husband suffers with dementia. After 2 weeks in hospital I realised I couldn't cope any more. My husband is 87 and I am 85. My daughter chose 3 care homes and then she took me to look at them. She took me to look at Croft Manor first and I told her I didn't want to see the others, my mind was made
up. It is such a lovely homely place and the staff are wonderful - nothing is too much trouble for them.

Reaction to sensory mat alarm - within seconds. Constant attention to toilet needs in a very sensitive manner. A constant supply of hot and cold drinks. Handyman personalised room in an hour or so to residents satisfaction. Staff introduced themselves within hours. Immediate and warm welcome to visitors.
Staff working as a team. The building is very suitable and has been sensibly and sensitively adapted to light, bright and airy with aspects over the garden. Service and care very personalised.

It was a hard decision to have to place my dad in a home at the beginning of the year after his hospitalisation. From the moment I walked through the door at Croft Manor, the whole experience has been outstanding. I can only describe the staff as angels, nothing is too much trouble for them (residents
and their guests). The whole atmosphere at Croft Manor is homely and friendly. My dad has settled in so well, something we didn't expect and he has been joining in the activities provided.
With their encouragement, they have even got dad eating by himself again (ie with utensils). Outstanding.

My elderly mother had to go into care in May 2017 and after looking at several homes, Croft Manor was our choice. Croft Manor is a really warm and welcoming care home. It has a lovely ambience and the 3 principal rooms are bright and airy and the residents are all well cared for. My mother is very happy
there and that, in turn, means we are happy too! The manager and staff are very friendly and fully committed to providing a high standard of care and genuinely welcome families when they visit. Nothing is too much trouble for them and my mother agrees!

I would recommend Croft Manor and the staff to anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.302)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.302) out of 10 for Croft Manor Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.702 for Croft Manor Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.702
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Croft Manor Residential Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
