Overall Experience

My mother has been in Oak Mount for three months. I am extremely pleased with the way she is being looked after and cared for. She is very happy in herself and joins in with all the events that the care home provides. The staff are all very efficient and nice and I feel very happy to leave my mother in their care. The manager is very helpful and keeps me fully informed of my mother's progress. I would very happily recommend this home to anyone else who has been put in my position of finding care for a parent. Very good!

Overall Experience

Following not being able to manage in the community, Oak Mount became my mother's home. Prior to her move, staff encouraged us to bring anything that would help mum feel at home for instance, furniture, ornaments and so on. To our surprise mum, who had always been fiercely independent, settled very quickly being treated with empathy and respect by staff.

We found all the staff very professional, empathetic and compassionate. Mum's needs were always the priority and we knew she was being cared for in a way we would have liked to have managed in our own home. When we visited, we were made to feel welcome by the staff who were always on hand to bring us up to date with mum's latest exploit. It was evident that staff took the time to sit and talk to mum who always enjoyed a 'good chat', no matter how odd the subject matter could be.

What is impressive is that many of the staff at Oak Mount have worked there some considerable amount of time. This was reassuring for us as we felt this was an indicator of the quality of care the home provides. The home is clean, warm and bright and there is a homeliness which promotes a family atmosphere which includes the residents and staff.

Sadly, at the age of 95, mum died of old age. However, we feel that during her stay at Oak Mount, mum's best interests were always promoted with humility and respect. The homely consistent atmosphere that is prevalent at the home supported mum's peaceful passing as she was surrounded by consistently familiar voices, noises and routines.

I can highly recommend Oak Mount Rest Home.
