I spent a long time researching a home for my mum when she succumbed to dementia. I can honestly say Old Raven House were the best by a country mile. Such a warm, friendly, welcoming place it was immediately obvious to me that Mum had found her new home. All of the staff are absolutely amazing in their loving yet professional way they look after their residents, not for nothing is it called a Care Hotel.

Mum passed away in April and I am absolutely certain the 5 years she spent at Old Raven House could well have been the happiest years of her life...

All the staff I have met at Old Raven are kind and caring. They encourage the residents to join in activities and have fun. My aunt loves it and I wouldn't want her to be moved to another residential home. It is well managed.

Very happy with the care my mother is receiving at Old Raven, especially during this lockdown. The staff are taking all precautions during this difficult time to ensure all residents are safe, and I feel confident that all residents are well looked after.

My mother had been a guest at Old Raven House for 5-years. During that time, she was extremely well looked after and bonded well with the staff. She was constantly occupied and encouraged to join in, not it seems that she needed much encouragement.
During her passing away, they took great care of her and were very helpful after her death.

We have nothing but praise for Old Raven House.

My mother-in-law resides at the Old Raven Care Hotel and I can honestly say it is lovely; where she gets good care and where she is very comfortable. Staff are always helpful and cheery and even as a visitor, both my family and myself also feel welcomed. The home always tries their best to organise enjoyable events for the residents and to keep them occupied on their own terms and they can freely walk around their home and lovely garden, whilst still being kept safe, which is also great. During this difficult time of the Covid-19 outbreak, I feel the management and staff have worked even harder to ensure the safety of their residents, but they are still cheerful and as helpful as ever, when contacted about family members. The rooms are all homely and I know the food is great, as over the time my mother-in-law has resided at Old Raven, I have often popped in to sit with her and her friends at mealtimes. Keep up the great work and thank you!

The care given to my own mother has been brilliant. When we visit I can see that all the residents are clean and well cared for. All the rooms have a lovely fresh smell and the food always looks lovely.

Our mother was a resident of The Old Raven Care home for 8 years and during this time she received excellent care and support from the staff. The building itself is very attractive, having a very homely feel and the gardens surrounding the building are beautiful all year round. Inside the layout is probably quite unconventional for a care home, as residents and visitors can wander through the staff room but this meant that staff were always approachable.

We really appreciated the continuity of staff and several became firm favourites of our mother. Over the years we came to know the majority of the staff and there was always a friendly atmosphere in the house. Visitors were always made welcome. In the last few years, there has been an emphasis on craft, activities and outings which our mother enjoyed when she was well enough to participate. We'd like to thank the owner, manager and the team for all their kindness over the years and let them know their hard work is appreciated.

Old Raven is an old listed building. It is a bit of a rabbit warren and not all of the infrastructure is perfect, but the care is exemplary. There is a busy, friendly and happy atmosphere. I was encouraged to turn up to visit at any time of the day or night. My mother was only there for two weeks, her health having deteriorated suddenly. Mum was very close to our home and we were able to visit frequently each day, Mum was always clean and comfortable. Mum was eating very little but they were always keen to prepare little things we told them she liked. While very old age is not great, Mum could not have been in a more caring environment.

My mother recently had 8 days respite at Old Raven House having never previously been away from her home. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and put her at ease and she settled in well. I called to see my mother at various times throughout the week depending on my schedule she was always up and dressed, looked well cared for and her dietary needs were well catered for. My mother even managed to get her hair done at short noticed and this just added to a very happy stay.

Very pleased with the care support and treatment she received and found the care team amazing.

Mum is always treated really well and encouraged to get involved with the communal activities, but is given the freedom to just stay in her room if she wants to. She always says the food is really good and there is always a glass of juice or a cup of tea to hand.

The care at Old Raven House is constantly very good. Staff are always bright and friendly chatting freely with all the residents in a manner personal to each individual so that the individual can respond comfortably in conversation according to that resident's interests and needs.

Each of my visits and contact with Old Raven House confirms that my decision to choose Old Raven House for my friend was exactly right.

Staff always respond to residents needs with great respect.

Since my last review in December 2016, I still visit most days to see my wife who has Alzheimer's. She still gets the consistent care from the dedicated staff and the manager and her professional team give us endless support. The food is still of a high standard and cleaning and laundry are ongoing daily.

There are indoor activities and in summer, trips out to various attractions. The gardens are large and well kept so residents and visitors can sit and enjoy.

A very welcoming home.

Looking after dementia suffering residents is never going to be easy as each resident is very much an individual with their own very personal problems. To achieve this it is crucial that the staff have both the necessary training and the relevant compassion. The staff at the Old Raven have this which in my opinion is down to the leadership of the Manager and the management skills of the senior team who lead by example. I have slightly marked down the safety and security as they have only one access which is used by both vehicles and pedestrians. The expensive high tech solution would be to get every resident to wear a microchip necklace which alarmed when crossing the gate threshold.

This is a place where I know my Nan feels at home and where I can see she can be herself. I can also see that she is celebrated for her humour and occasional ‘interesting’ choice of language too!

Since living at The Old Raven, Nan looks healthier than she has in years, mainly because she now has great food and people who genuinely care about her and all the residents.

Every time I visit, I see tonnes of patience and understanding - consistently and from all staff.

To us, that is priceless.

Dad has been living at Old Raven House since 2016 and staff have consistently provided high levels of care. The manager and her staff are extremely well organised and dad is treated with dignity and respect at all times. He has formed close trusting relationships with staff and it's comforting to see how well his individual needs are continually being met.

The staff here really care about the residents. My mum's key support worker looks after Mum as if she was her own mother.
Nothing is too much for the staff, day and night they are there to support the residents and their families.

As a family, we love to visit and are made very welcome.

Old Raven House is a caring and friendly environment for its residents and its staff are characterised by their kind, compassionate and positive attitude towards residents and their families and friends. No question or suggestion goes unanswered and their quest to do the best for individual people in their care is second to none. Family meetings and individual care plan reviews have left us with reassurance about the depth of understanding about Mum and their quest to improve life for her and others.

Old Raven go the extra mile to entertain the residents. Their programme of activities went far beyond others when I searched for a place. The Facebook page is an absolute favourite with our extended family who are cheered by seeing her enjoying herself. The menagerie of animals is a particular favourite with Mum. Their encouragement for her to have a budgie in her room has proved to be a fantastic success.

Thank you to the manager and your staff for the piece of mind brought by your care.

My Mum is very happy and well cared for. The manager and staff are always around when I visit and are very approachable if I need to ask anything. My Mum is less mobile now so is happy sitting in the lounge and is always included in the activities going on if she wants to join in. All good!
