My husband is cared for in Oak View with kindness & compassion. His food is carefully and thoughtfully prepared and the staff look after him with care and attention. All the staff are kind and thoughtful and carry out their duties with cheerful good humour. They are always smiling and providing a kind
and happy atmosphere for the patients. I cannot praise them highly enough for the excellent job they carry out.

I cannot express how excellent the care of my mum was at Oak View Care Home. She was there 4 years and the love and care for her was excellent. We always felt welcome when we visited and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were so caring and understanding when my mum became poorly and she could
not have been in a better place. Thank you to all the staff and keep up your good work.
Reply from Lauren Geach, Assistant at Oak View Residential Care HomeThanks you for your kind words about the team at Oak View. We really appreciate you taking the time to write us a review and are pleased to hear the care your mum received was excellent. My husband has only been a resident for a short time. From what I have seen the staff seem very caring and are aware of the movements of all the residents. I am made welcome when I visit. My husband is non-verbal but he smiles a lot so I assume that he is happy. I am sure that he is very well cared
for.

My experience so far has been fantastic, right from the reception, the home presents a warm and welcoming environment. The staff are kind and caring to residents and it's not surprising that the residents and their family members feel at home.
Residents are engaged in fun-filled meaningful activities
and of course, the nutritional needs of residents are catered for by the great cooks. Residents also enjoy their individualised personal space. A great home indeed.

Residents are well cared for. Staff are always welcoming, and refreshments offered on every visit. Staff interaction with residents is friendly. Mum always enjoys her meals.
The upstairs lounge is bright and comfortable and there are always staff present. The lounge has an outlook over the recreation
ground so plenty of activities to be seen.

My Husband was placed here as an emergency respite care but from the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with care and helpfulness and a genuine interest in the needs of my Husband. We have very good communication with the Management team and all the staff we meet are friendly and helpful.
He has settled
in very well and enjoys the food and environment and when we visit he appears happy and content. We would recommend this Care Home.

I visit 2 or 3 times a week and always receive a warm welcome and refreshments. My sister is well cared for. The staff get on well together and are very caring towards all the residents. There is always someone to talk to about my sister if I have any worries and I am kept well informed about her.

I cannot thank all the staff, for all the care they do for my mum, she is treated the respect and care. I would always say that she is so very well looked after and she loves it here also. There is nothing they won't do to support my mum and even myself so only can thank them for this.

My mother has been a resident at Oak Lodge for around 18 months now, after a year at a large corporate home who decided they couldn't cope with her needs. We liked that home but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as that home ended up being investigated and now having her at Oak Lodge, we realise
how comparatively poor it was.
Oak Lodge has been brilliant for Mum. The staff are amazing and her face lights up when she sees some of them (she has severe Alzheimer's). She is clearly far happier here than at her previous home and it's obvious she's more safe and secure, not least because of the high staffing levels.
As others have said, it's very like a nice hotel, with spacious rooms and everything is very clean. I genuinely can't praise the staff enough, and it's clear they seem to be happy working there, again something not always apparent at the previous home.
I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone in the unenviable position of needing to place a relative in care.

Absolutely outstanding care home. Staff are very attentive, friendly and well organised. Plenty of staff to go around for the residents, very well organised. Upon arrival, you are offered a hot or cold beverage which is a very nice touch indeed. This doesn't feel like a care home setting and when I
say that it does not smell like a normal care home (urine/faeces) it has a very pleasant smell. The style and decor are like walking into a luxurious hotel. Management is absolutely outstanding. I can't thank everyone enough for what they have done for my father-in-law. Residents get fed 4 times a day and are also well watered. All staff have been retained so no high turnover of staff, the company are definitely doing something right. All levels of staff are amazing from the cleaners, caretakers, receptionists, carers and management. You will be peaceful to know they are well looked after. Well done to all the staff for making this place happen and work as it does.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.866)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.866) out of 10 for Oak View Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.866 for Oak View Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (217 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 246 Ratings = 4.866
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oak View Residential Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
