Oak View is a kind and caring; family orientated home. The staff include me in all decision making and are as kind to me; as they are to my husband. The staff are very welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble. They will do everything they can to accommodate and always want to please. I feel my husband is in very capable hands, and my mind is at ease; leaving him in their excellent care.

My Mother moved to this home when her previous home was not equipped to cope with her advancing dementia. Oak View welcomed her, also my sister and I. Mum seems to have settled in well and is much more content, they have been able to reduce her medication considerably meaning Mum is less drowsy and able to 'converse' with us on our visits. The home is clean, warm and welcoming with efficient and friendly staff. They are very responsive to the needs and interests of residents i.e. Mum likes to 'clean' so they got her a little bucket and a cloth so she can clean to her heart's content. There is good security there keeping the residents safe.

Staff are friendly and genuinely appear to take pride in their work and always have a very pleasant approach to residents and relatives.
The entire home is well presented with a spacious lounge and a very nice garden area for the better weather.

The meals are always well prepared and varied with adequate staff for assistance at mealtimes.

My mother has dementia and came Oak View Residential Home in November 2018 after the care home she was in were unable to continue to meet her needs as her dementia had become worse. My sister and I were very apprehensive about the move as we and our mother were happy in the old home. However, we needn't have worried. She settled in straight away and became less aggressive. The staff really took care of her and reassured us during the early days. The home is a safe, friendly home and the staff are compassionate. Staff and management are great. I am so happy about the way Mum is being taken care of in the home which includes dignity and respect.

Oak View Care Home has provided an extremely safe, caring and compassionate home for our father for the last 3 years.
The exceptional management and staff treat our father with respect, kindness and dignity. We feel that he is part of a caring family where his needs are met and catered for to a high standard. On our visits, staff seem genuinely fond of him which is so comforting to us.
A recent review of his care was very thorough and all my questions were answered and addressed.

Oak View perfectly understands our father's needs and we are grateful for their hard work and commitment to producing a high quality of care.

Staff at Oak View are caring and attentive. Those who have been with the home for a long time almost treat my mother as a family. They have been patient and accommodating and go above and beyond to try and tend to Mum's specific needs and try to maintain a good quality of life for her.

I feel very confident that my husband is receiving the very best care possible at Oak View to help him cope with Alzheimers Disease. All of the staff are so patient and helpful to all of the residents, ensuring a happy, safe, clean and secure home. I particularly value the support given to me by the managers in securing a place for my husband after he attended Oak View for respite and daycare. Also, for the emotional support as this is a very difficult time for residents and relations alike, when a loved one has to go into permanent care.

Since my partner came to Oak View it has felt like an extension of family we have all been made to feel very welcome. He appeared very settled from the beginning and the care provided is excellent. Staff take the time to make sure his needs and welfare are met. As next of kin I feel I am kept very well informed of his needs.

I have always found the staff very friendly and always helpful and respectful of my ageing mother. Although on occasions my mother's room has needed cleaning, it has been given attention to a satisfactory standard. It would be good if the standard of food be improved by having the meals served fresh and well heated. Often the food has been cold and not very appetising.

My husband has been a lot more content since moving to Oak View.
He has Alzheimer's and Dementia and had to leave his last care home due to issues associated with his illness.
The staff at Oak View are really good and my husband is so much happier.

I visit at different times, but no matter when I visit, I can tell that he is being cared for always.

Review from Nicola P (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 August 2017 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My father was in Oak View from January to August after his dementia (Alzheimer's & vascular) advanced to the point we could no longer adequately care for him at home. We couldn't have wished for a better setting for him to spend his final months. From the first day the staff at Oak View made sure he felt he was 'home'. We were encouraged to come and visit whenever we wished. This was 'home' and so they don't have visiting hours as such.

The staff quickly became family to my dad and subsequently to us. He was safe at Oak View, he was cared for professionally but always in a loving manner. As the dementia changed he went through stages of aggression (at times very severe), however the staff were always positive and flexible in their approach and the level of care never waived. They responded quickly, professionally and ensured his medication was amended accordingly going above and beyond to make sure this was right. Above all Dad was not only cared for here, he was loved.
